EPILOGUE
O ne month later

The forest was blanketed in snow, muffling even the smallest sound. I found myself standing at the edge of Silas’s camp, watching the winter settle in. We’d carved out this moment of peace, but deep down, I knew it couldn’t last. Not with the wolves still out there, regrouping, calculating.
I glanced over to see Rowan leaning against a tree, his gaze trained on the snow-laden horizon.
“They’re not done,” I said softly, half to myself. “We hurt them, but they’ll be back.”
Rowan nodded, his eyes narrowing. “Yes. The wolves will come for us—and next time, they’ll be ready.”
I knew he was right. The wolves would have time to prepare and regroup, but we weren’t sitting idle in the meantime. The Resistance was already planning, forging alliances with other groups. Silas’s pack and our own people were training every day, preparing for the inevitable.
Rowan moved closer, his hand slipping into mine, grounding me.
“Whatever comes next, though,” he murmured, “we’ll face it together.”
I leaned into him, feeling the warmth of his body against the cold, and let myself believe that, just for this moment, we were safe.
But I knew this was only the beginning.
The calm before the storm.
The wolves would come for us, and we would be ready.
It was simply a matter of time.
