Chapter 64 - Callahan
Have faith in your final ghoul.
I woke up again, groggy and my mouth dry. I was exhausted, even though I hadn't done much since we'd arrived on this floor. Myrtle kept us drugged, only waking us up to give us water. Whatever she was injecting into us must be keeping us from starving to death.
"How long has it been?" I asked after she let me drink.
She crouched down on her knees and patted my cheek.
"It's only been a few weeks, darling. You're all so dramatic. You act like I've been keeping you here for years. I haven't even done anything yet."
"Bullshit." I coughed and slouched over. "We're captives. Let us go."
"You know I can't do that, Callahan. Or can I call you Daddy?" She grinned.
"Fuck you!" I tried to spit, but I had no liquid to offer. "You don't get to ever call me that."
"Oh, is that reserved for her ?" She stood, pulling back the water canteen.
"Why do you hate her so much? She's your daughter." My body ached, needing to move, to drink—to do something.
"By DNA only. I have no bond with that girl. She was just a tool. Come, let's get you up. Your body must be stiff from sitting in that position for so long."
Myrtle tugged me up but refused to let me out of my restraints. Holding onto me, she helped me inch forward. As I walked, I realized that Boone and Soda weren't here anymore.
"Where are my friends?" I croaked.
"My other men were put in their own rooms. I didn't want you all talking to each other. You'll never learn to love me if you continue to plot against me."
"I'll never love you."
She took me to a new unit on the 87 th floor. It was silent inside. She brought me into a large room. The floors and walls were red, as was the bed.
"I saved the best room for you. This unit was home to the bunker where they focused on pleasure. Their entire goal was to figure out all the ways to make someone orgasm."
"Take me out of here," I snarled and fought once more against my bonds.
"Why? Don't you want to feel pleasure, instead of pain?" She pouted.
"I'll never feel pleasure with you."
She pushed me onto the bed and I fell face first and rolled onto my back. The bedding was soft silk, but I struggled to get off it. She leaped on top of me, pinning me down.
"Just pretend I'm her. I've seen her. I don't look that far off."
Vomit rolled in my stomach.
"Pretend I'm her; eventually you'll forget about her entirely. She's not coming for you. She's not tough enough." Myrtle leaned down and began planting wet kisses on my skin. I fought my arms, trying to push her away, but I was so weak.
She kissed me down my body, pausing at my belt. She reached for the leather and I bucked my hips, pushing her off me.
"No!" I yelled, but she was stronger than me. She'd made sure of that before moving me, I realized. That was why the others had been taken before me. I was larger than them both. I was more resistant to whatever sedative she'd been feeding us.
"Boone didn't fight this hard. Why are you so insistent on remaining faithful to her?" She forced me back on my back and tore at my pants. Despite giving it my all, she managed to wrangle my dick from my underwear, but I remained flaccid.
She gripped it firmly, her brow furrowed. I closed my eyes and focused as best as I could staying soft. My mind went back to the underwater bunker, and the horrors we'd seen.
"Why are you…" She stroked me. My body fought against my mind, trying to get erect, but I refused to give in. I remained dead in her hand, and finally, she let out a cry of frustration and put me back in my pants. "I must have drugged you too much. You're so much larger than the others, I wasn't sure how much to give you."
She slid off the bed. "I'll figure out the right dosage. I know if I give you time, I can make you love me."
"You really can't."
"Well, if you won't do it on your own, I'll have to give you the serum, and no one wants that."
She straightened her dress and started toward the door.
"You're wrong."
She paused and turned. I raised my head.
"Eleanor will come for me." I dropped back onto the pillows.
Every muscle in my body was so heavy. I knew what I said was true. There was no way when I didn't come back after the three weeks I'd promised her, that Eleanor hadn't fought to come find me. Even after our fight the last time we spoke.
I loved her. And she loved me.
She'd come for me.
"You think she still wants you? After you left her with Riot Ritalin? He's the wasteland whore. I'd only stayed with him for a short time, but the stories he told. Ha! I bet he slept with her the night you left. He's probably convinced her she doesn't need you. You're just as naive as she is."
Riot.
"He'll come for me too," I argued. And this, I also knew to be true. "You don't know him like I do."
"And how do you know him, Callahan?" She returned to the bed, sitting on the edge. "Is that why you can't get up for me? Is it not Eleanor you want, but Riot? He likes them all, you know. Men, women, everything in between. He's not picky. Well, everyone but me."
Her eyes took on a shiny gleam. She blinked the tears away.
"Is that why you don't want me? Because I have the wrong parts?"
I rolled my eyes.
"I don't want you because you're a disgusting human. Parts don't matter to me."
There was a realization there, but my mind was so heavy with the drugs, I was too exhausted to ponder it. Eleanor and Riot were on their way. I just had to hold out until then.
"I should have known you went the other way," she sighed and stood up. "The best ones always do." She walked to the door.
"Where are you going?" I asked. I was so thirsty.
"I'm going to meet with someone who doesn't resist as much. Boone gave in pretty quickly. We've made love already. We made Bonnie watch too. I haven't tried Soda. He's not really my type. Maybe you're right, and Eleanor and Riot are coming. If they are, I'll kill Soda and take Riot instead."
"Please, come back with water," I pleaded. She snorted, but paused, her hand on the door.
"Callahan, I'm not coming back with anything but the serum that will make you want me. Which, I really didn't want to do, but you gave me no choice."
I forced myself up, using all the strength I had left.
"You do have a choice, Myrtle. Let us go. You just haven't met the right person. Don't inject me with whatever you have planned."
She wasn't listening.
"It's a powerful drug. There's enough for three doses. You, Boone, and Riot. It's pretty interesting. I read all about it while I was waiting for you. Once it's in your system, it'll take over your brain, and the only thing you'll be able to think about is getting me pregnant. You won't be able to stop until I am. But there's just one problem."
I shook my head, the nausea returning. "You're fucking sick. That's your problem."
"No, it's not that. Not that at all. The problem is, after Eleanor, they removed all my reproductive organs. I can't get pregnant. So once you're given the drug, the only thing you'll want to do for the rest of your life is fuck me."
