Epilogue
FIVE MONTHS LATER
Maddie sat and watched in the mirror as she got her hair styled for her wedding. Lainey, her hairstylist, was the sweetest woman and was ridiculously talented. Damian had recommended her, and Maddie fell in love with her from the first time they'd met to do a trial run of the hairstyle she wanted. According to Damian, she was also a Little who was married to a friend of his from the military. Her husband was still in the Marines and was in another country serving.
Ian had planned most of the wedding, but he did it according to everything Maddie wanted. There would only be about seventy-five guests, and they chose only to have a best man and a maid of honor in the wedding. Damian was Ian's best man, and Quinn was her maid of honor.
She had also asked Damian if he would walk her down the aisle since he had saved her life. Big, bad, Damian had gotten teary-eyed when she'd asked before he happily accepted. She had thought the man was made of steel, but apparently, he had some emotions somewhere within that tough exterior.
Quinn sat in a chair next to her, getting her makeup done by Lainey's business partner, Carly. They owned a salon together, and Lainey did all the hair stuff, while Carly was the esthetician and did all the skin and makeup work. Both the women were as sweet as could be.
"You are going to be the most beautiful bride!" Lainey said as she twirled the curling iron around a piece of hair.
Maddie blushed, "Thank you. I'd love it if you two stayed and enjoyed the wedding."
Lainey smiled back at her in the mirror, "I'd love to."
"I wish I could, but I have another appointment after this. It's going to be beautiful, though," Carly said as she swept a makeup brush down Quinn's face.
The past five months had been busy with planning, but Ian had made sure Maddie didn't get overly stressed. She had weekly appointments with Savannah, who had quickly become a friend, and after the fourth month of going to her, Maddie told her she was fired. Then Maddie explained that she understood that Savannah couldn't be her friend and her therapist, and she would prefer to have her as a friend so she could talk to her more than once a week and hang out outside of her appointments rather than only be able to see her for therapy.
Savannah had laughed and agreed that she felt the same way about Maddie and since then, they talked all the time and frequently did lunch and shopping.
Her anxiety levels had never been better, and instead of feeling sad about losing Cameron, she talked about him regularly and did everything she could to celebrate his life. She would always miss him, but she knew he would always be a part of her and watch over her.
When her hair was done, and Quinn's makeup was finished, they switched seats. Carly was just as sweet as Lainey, though she was much more energetic and a bit blunt. Damian hadn't mentioned anything about Carly, so she had no idea if the woman was a Little or not. It wasn't until her hair trial run that Lainey told her that her partner did makeup and could do their makeup for the wedding. As soon as Maddie met Carly and saw how beautiful her makeup was, she had hired her instantly.
"You have the most perfect plump lips. I'm so jealous," Maddie said as Carly brushed moisturizer onto her skin.
Carly grinned, "Thank you. I was going to say the same about your cheekbones."
"We are all just fucking gorgeous is what we are," Carly said.
The women all laughed.
Maddie definitely considered Quinn to be her best friend. She had kept people at arm's length since her mom had passed away because she was afraid of losing more people, but Savannah had helped her realize that by keeping people on the outside, she was losing out on wonderful friendships with people, and missing out on a lot of fun.
Quinn hadn't gone to The Playground yet, and Ian hadn't hooked her up with any potential Daddies, but they had had a couple of Little playdates that were a blast. Ian had even let Maddie have Quinn over for a slumber party. They had gotten lectured for being up too late and eating too much candy that he'd found out Quinn had snuck over with her. Ian still insisted that she was a troublemaker, but Maddie sensed that deep down, he liked her and liked that they were such good friends.
She and Quinn had also met a couple of other Littles, Ally, and Haylee, who had come up for the wedding with their Daddies, Luke and Kane. Their Daddies were Ian's friends and Maddie had learned that Ian had helped save one of the Littles from an abusive ex-boyfriend, which made her love her Daddy even more. A few nights before the wedding, Luke and Kane brought over Ally and Haylee and the girls had all talked the men into a slumber party. It was so much fun, and even though they lived down in Oregon, Maddie just knew she would keep in touch with them after they went home.
By the time their hair and makeup were done, Maddie couldn't believe how beautiful she looked. Her makeup was flawless, and her hair was stunning. Lainey and Carly offered to help them into their dresses which Maddie was thankful for. She had chosen a corset top dress with a flowing chiffon skirt that sparkled in the light.
She'd had one of Cameron's old navy-blue ties turned into a belt that wrapped around the waist of the dress and tied into a bow behind her back. It was her "something blue". A pair of her mom's antique earrings for her "something old", and Savannah had lent her a diamond bracelet for her "something borrowed". She had planned on her dress being her "something new" until the night before the wedding when Ian surprised her with a sparkly diamond necklace to wear.
Maddie stood in front of the full-length mirror and admired herself, unable to believe the day had finally come that she got to be Ian's wife. Quinn walked up behind her and hugged her while Lainey and Carly packed up their tools.
"You look beautiful, Maddie."
She turned and hugged her friend back, who looked just as gorgeous wearing a lavender floor-length dress.
"You do too."
There was a light knock on the door, and Carly went to answer it. Damian stepped in and looked Carly up and down briefly before moving into the room. Maddie wasn't positive, but she thought she saw Carly blush under his quick gaze.
"You ready, honey?"
Maddie smiled and walked over to Damian to hug him. He had quickly become her friend as well, even if he did snitch on her when she had gone to the club by herself.
"You look handsome. There's probably a handful of single women out there that will agree. Maybe Savannah will ask you to dance."
Damian snorted and shook his head. She knew he was a Daddy but teasing him was fun.
"You know I can tell Ian that you were being a mouthy brat and get him to paddle your butt, right?" he said quietly so only she could hear.
She grinned up at him and then stuck her tongue out.
"Oh, Lord. What am I going to do with you?"
Maddie slipped her arm in his, "Walk me down the aisle."
"It would be my honor."
The ceremony was beautiful, and Maddie was thankful that whatever makeup products that Carly had used on her seemed to be tsunami proof because she didn't think she had ever cried so much in her life. When Ian kissed her, and everyone cheered, Maddie felt as though something was hugging her from behind and she knew it was Cameron, which made her cry even more.
The reception was held at the same venue, which also had a hotel connected to it that they would be staying at that night. The next morning, they would be flying out to Cancun for their honeymoon for two weeks. Ian had let her choose the honeymoon destination, and then he planned the rest, so she had no idea what was in store. She didn't care as long as they were together.
People cheered as they walked into the reception hand in hand and found their way to their seats. The entire rest of the night was magical. Ian's friend Keith had come and asked Quinn to dance, and that dance turned into two dances, then three.
"Did you plan that?" she asked Ian.
He smiled over at her, "I might have mentioned to Keith that your maid of honor was a single Little."
Maddie leaned over and kissed his cheek before she whispered into his ear.
"You are the best husband and Daddy ever, and I can't wait to fuck you tonight."
Ian's hand tightened around hers, "And I can't wait to spank your naughty bottom tonight for cursing."
"Promises, promises."
"You look so beautiful, Maddie! Like a princess!" Haylee said loudly.
Kane smiled, "Congratulations you two. It's a beautiful wedding."
"The champagne is so good!" Haylee commented as she drank down the rest of her glass.
"Don't worry, she is cut off after that glass otherwise she'll be spending the evening hugging the toilet and promising to never have a drink again," Kane said, winking at Maddie.
Maddie giggled. She liked Haylee a lot. She seemed like a lot of fun.
Everyone ate dinner and sipped champagne as people danced and talked. At one point, Maddie saw Savannah dancing with a man that she didn't know, and when she asked Ian who he was, he smiled.
"He is a friend of mine from the club."
She looked at him with confusion, "But she isn't a Little."
"No, she isn't. And he isn't a Daddy," Ian said, winking at her.
Maddie grinned and watched the two dance, "You are just Mr. Matchmaker tonight, aren't you?"
Ian stood and held out his hand for her, "No. I'm Maddie-Rose's husband tonight. Dance with me."
She took his hand, and they danced the night away. They danced so much that by the time they left the reception to go to their room, Maddie was exhausted and could barely keep her eyes open. Ian helped her out of her dress and began pulling one of her cotton nighties over her head.
"Wait, Daddy. It's our wedding night. We need to do some things first," she said as she ran her hand down the front of his tux until it settled on his erection.
He kissed the tip of her nose and shook his head.
"My baby girl is exhausted, and we have the rest of our lives to do those things, but for tonight, I want to get my little girl into her pajamas, feed her a bottle and snuggle her to sleep."
It sounded too good to argue, so she let him change her and follow her to the potty, and then he helped her brush her teeth before picking her up and carrying her to bed. As she drank down her bottle, her eyelids became heavier until she couldn't fight to keep them open any longer.
"Sweet dreams, baby. Daddy loves you forever and ever."
