25. Maddie

Her cheeks were on fire, and not the cheeks of her bottom. The things Ian said to her were so naughty and so dirty, yet she loved it, even though it made her blush like a teenage virgin.

"You're welcome, baby. Do you want to bring Stitch with you to the zoo?"

"You're overthinking, Madison. You can bring Stitch, and he can stay in the car while we look at all the animals. Deal?"

"Deal!" she said as she grabbed hold of her toy.

The zoo was packed when they arrived, and it took a while for Ian to find parking. Before they got out of the car, he turned to her.

"Look at me. It is very busy today, so you need to stay close to me, understood? No running off. We can spend as much time as you want here as long as you're a good girl."

She nodded, "Okay, Daddy. Can we get cotton candy and ice cream? Oooh! And an elephant ear!"

Maddie was so excited to go to the zoo. She hadn't been since middle school, and she loved seeing the animals, especially the elephants. They were so cute!

Ian laughed, "We'll see. That's a lot of sugar for a little girl, but we will see how well behaved you are first before I say yes or no."

Reaching out his hand, Ian walked to the ticket counter with her, and they waited in line for way too long. By the time they got into the gates, she was feeling antsy to see everything.

"Do you need to go potty? We are right by the bathrooms."

She automatically shook her head, "Nope, I'm good. Let's go!"

Maddie tugged on his arm so he would move faster as they came up to the bears first. After watching the bears lazily play for a bit, she tugged on his arm again. They spent the next half hour watching the monkeys play and wrestle with each other, and she even got to see one of the monkeys peel a banana and eat it.

Shifting from foot to foot, Maddie realized she really needed to go to the bathroom, but she didn't want to have to walk all the way back to the restrooms at the entrance. Ian glanced down at her and gave her a stern look.

"Do you need to go potty, little girl?"

She looked up at him innocently but nodded as she danced in place. Ian grabbed her hand and began walking her back toward the entrance.

"Little girl, Daddy asked you if you needed to go potty just a little bit ago, and you said no. When I ask you if you need to go, you need to answer honestly."

"I'm sorry, but I was so excited to see the animals."

"I understand that, but now you have to take a break from seeing the animals so you can go potty when you could have just gone when we were by the restroom the first time."

When they finally got back to the bathrooms, Ian let go of her hand and gave her bottom a firm swat.

"Go potty, and make sure to wash your hands, and the next time I ask if you need to go, you need to give an honest answer."

Maddie rubbed her bottom, not that it stung that much, and hustled into the women's room to do her business. When she came back out, Ian smiled at her and leaned down to kiss her.

She nodded, "Yes."

They spent the next couple of hours wandering around the underwater and African exhibits. Maddie loved the hippos and giraffes the most, so they watched them for longer than the other animals.

"Can we go see the elephants, pleeeeease?"

"We need to stop and eat some lunch first and take a potty break, and then we can go see the elephants."

She dropped her shoulders and sighed, but she straightened herself quickly when Ian gave her a disapproving look.

"We have all day, baby. Besides, I think they have animal-shaped French fries."

Okay, that sounded pretty good. She supposed she could eat something, and she did need to use the toilet again, so she nodded and let him take her hand to lead her to the restaurant. Ian ordered her chicken fingers with animal-shaped fries and ordered a burger for himself. He also let her get some apple juice in an elephant-shaped bottle with the trunk as the straw.

When their food came, Ian broke apart her chicken fingers into smaller pieces so they could cool and then held up a fry to her mouth for her to take a bite.

"Mmm… I think animal-shaped fries are better than normal fries."

Ian gave her a skeptical look but smiled and held up another fry for her.

"Do you think it hurts the animal's feelings that people eat fries shaped like them?" she asked.

She saw the corners of his mouth curl up and could tell he was trying not to laugh at her question. Crossing her arms over her chest, she frowned at him.

"Are you laughing at me, Daddy?"

He shook his head, "No, baby. Not laughing at you. Just didn't expect that question. I'm sure the animals don't get their feelings hurt."

She thought about that for a minute, "But they might. What if they feel it each time we take a bite of a fry? Like when I bite the head off of a giraffe-shaped fry, maybe it gives the giraffes a headache. That would be sad, Daddy."

Ian looked up at the ceiling briefly before looking back down at her.

"I don't think it hurts them, sweetheart. If anything, I bet it makes the animals happy that you love them so much that you want to make food shaped like them."

Huh. Why didn't he just say that the first time? Silly Daddy.

"Oh. Okay, that makes sense."

He chuckled and shook his head.

"Finish your food, baby."

They both finished eating and then stopped in the bathroom at the restaurant before they headed back outside. Maddie skipped ahead slightly toward the elephant enclosures.

"Madison Rose, get your butt back here now," Ian said just loud enough for her to hear.

She froze and waited for him to catch up to her. He leaned down next to her ear and whispered.

"Wander off again, and we're leaving, and you'll have a hot bottom as soon as we get home."

She shivered as he took her hand and held it tightly while they walked the rest of the way. As much as she wanted to move faster, she didn't want to push it and have to leave before seeing the elephants.

When they got to the enclosure, Maddie stood and watched the magnificent animals move around, stuffing entire watermelons into their mouths with their trunks. She had read somewhere that elephants think of humans as cute in the same manner that humans think kittens or puppies are cute, and that thought made her happy. She hoped the elephants thought she was cute because she thought the same about them.

Ian had released her hand so she could step up on the steps provided for kids so they could see better over the railing and told her she could watch the elephants for as long as she wanted. He stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her tummy, pulling her tightly against him as they talked and laughed at the animal's silly antics. When his phone rang, he released her and fished it out of his pocket.

"I need to take this. You stay right here."

She nodded and turned her attention back to the ginormous creatures. Maddie wondered what their skin would feel like and whether they liked to be petted or not. She needed to do some research on them, so the next time her Daddy brought her to the zoo, she would know everything about them.

The sound of a metal clanking disrupted her thoughts and moved her attention to the back of the enclosure where the metal door was being lifted, and a baby elephant was making its way outside to be with the bigger ones. Only, she couldn't get a good look at it because so many of the bigger elephants were in the way. Hopping off the step, she walked around to the side of the enclosure and found a spot that was perfect for seeing the baby, except there wasn't a step for her to stand on. Finding her option to gain some height, she put her foot on the railing and pushed herself up until she was high enough to see the sweet little baby. It was the cutest thing she'd ever seen as it walked over to what she assumed was its mom and stood under her legs.

"Madison Rose!" Ian's voice boomed through the crowd.

Uh-oh.

Before she could step off the railing, a set of large hands gripped her hips and pulled her off before spinning her around and setting her on her feet. Maddie looked up into Ian's steel-gray eyes and scowling face, and she did the only thing she could think of. She smiled.

Deflect, Maddie.

"Hi, Daddy. Did you see the baby elephant?"

Ian put his hands on his hips and glared down at her, making her smile fade.

"No. I did not see the baby elephant because I was too busy looking for my naughty baby girl after she disappeared from where her Daddy specifically told her to stay."

She fidgeted with her hands and lowered her eyes from his, "I'm sorry, I just couldn't see the baby from over there."

"I don't care. I couldn't see my baby from where I was because she moved and could have gotten lost. And then I find her standing on the railing that literally has a sign two feet away that says do not stand on the railing. What did I say would happen if you wandered from me again?"

Her eyes snapped back up to his. He couldn't have been serious. Oh shoot, the look on his face said he was dead serious.

"Y-you said that we would have to leave," she said quietly.

He raised his eyebrows, "And what else?"

Crap.

"And that you would spank me when we got home."

Ian nodded, "Yep. So, let's go."

She froze, unable to believe he would actually make her leave the zoo when they hadn't even seen all the animals.

"But, we haven't seen everything!"

"No, we haven't, and we aren't going to because you disobeyed me, and I told you the consequences of that. Come on," he said, grabbing hold of her hand.

He started to walk, but she didn't budge, even when he tugged her hand.

"I don't want to go."

Turning back around, he walked to her and leaned down to her ear.

"If you don't start walking, you will get spanked with both my hand and the wooden spoon when we get home."
