33. Callie

“Fuck— oh, fuck, Liam!”

Sleepiness trickled away, replaced with the overwhelming pleasure of an early morning orgasm courtesy of Liam buried between my legs. My core clenched and fluttered as wave after wave of warm, tingling pleasure spread from my core, reaching every corner of my body.

I was in heaven.

Liam’s lips kissed over my sensitive clit one last time, then he leaned up and began nibbling a gentle path along the rise of my hip. Opening my eyes, I rolled my head to the side and watched as Sawyer popped a square of breakfast pancake into his mouth.

“If I asked you who was better,” Sawyer asked. “Would you be honest?”

“I’d be happy to host a competition,” I murmured, catching my breath. Liam kissed up to my navel, then his breath tickled over my skin as he laughed.

“I hate to break it to you, Sawyer, but out of all the things you excel at, you can’t beat me at oral.”

Sawyer arched one brow. “Oh really? Says who.”

“Says every girl that’s ever screamed my name.” Liam winked at me as he slid up face to face, then he planted a firm kiss on my lips. “Shower time.”

Then he was away, leaving Sawyer and I in bed together. Slowly I rolled onto my side facing him but just as I got comfy, he moved himself over me and planted one arm firmly on the bed behind me. The other tipped up the syrup bottle and I let out an indignant noise when the sticky, cold syrup landed on my bare breast.

“Hey!”

My complaint died in my throat when Sawyer’s mouth warmed the syrup with his breath, then he licked it up with one smooth drag of his tongue.

“So sweet,” he murmured. “Just like you.”

It became a lazy game. Sawyer would drop syrup droplets all over my chest, then lick them up so slowly. My skin grew heated under his tongue and when his fingers finally slid into my pussy, I was so turned on that I nearly came around them immediately.

Thankfully, he abandoned the syrup and settled for kissing me instead. His fingers worked tirelessly between my legs, his tongue danced around my mouth sharing the sweetness of the syrup, and his soft beard grazed lightly across my chin; it was heaven. I caressed his shoulders, stroked his neck and then gripped his hair hard as he wrung another orgasm out of me in record time.

“So, who was better?” Sawyer whispered against my lips while I panted against him.

“Not a fair competition,” I replied with a lazy smile. “But I’m sure we can set something official up.”

Liam returned from the shower, dripping wet and gorgeous, then it was my turn. Only, my quick morning shower for work turned into Kane pressing me up against the tiles and eating me out to another orgasm that brought me quickly to the brink of over-sensitivity.

We couldn’t keep our hands off of each other and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This new insatiable rise of horniness had to be linked to my pregnancy but I was going to enjoy it for as long as I could. I was in love, and they meant it when they said they were here for me. Whatever I needed, all I had to do was ask.

This kind of life was a good life, and for the first time in months, it felt like I could breathe again.

Settled in the back of Sawyer’s car on the way to work, I Face Timed my mother. Her smile was as bright as ever and she happily chatted about what her plans for the day were. Some days were good and others were not, but I was learning to balance the good with the bad. I didn’t take her good days for granted so it was easier to get through the bad days when I was nothing but a stranger.

She loved me though. She told me herself and I’d broken down in tears as soon as the call ended. Such a simple thing, a mother’s love. I had been without it for so long that I had given up hope but when I told her I was pregnant, she told me she loved me and I knew things were going to be okay.

After the call, I dialed Bianca’s number and the sound of her voice brought an immediate smile to my face.

“Oh my god, chick. You saved me from a flea bath, I have never been so grateful!”

“At this time in the morning?” I laughed. “You’re so welcome.”

“I’ve been here since six am. Not all of us can afford to lounge around with three very sexy men you know.”

“I don’t know,” I mused playfully. “You should give it a try sometime.”

“Is that what you’re doing now, huh?” Bianca chucked. “Off to some amazing sex retreat or something?”

I rolled my eyes. “I wish. Just a regular work day. Liam’s dropping Marie off at a morning book club and then we’re set for a hard day with the lawyers. Although…” Trailing off, I glanced to see if Kane or Sawyer were listening but they were both deep in conversation at the front of the car.

“Although?” Bianca prompted.

“I’m being offered a new position!”

“What?!” Bianca screeched. “That’s amazing! Better pay, right?”

“Yes,” I laughed. “A lot better pay and some different responsibilities. The details are kind of up in the air right now but it will make my relationship with Liam and Sawyer much less problematic. I won’t be working under them anymore.”

“You’ll just be living under them,” Bianca teased.

“Exactly. Hey, do you want to get some food after work?”

“Of course! Ugh, my boss is calling. It’s back to the flea baths for me. Love ya, chick.”

“Love you too!”

Life was good. For the first time in a long time, I could safely say I was happy.

Reaching the office, Sawyer and Kane left the car first, and then I followed. I had pointed out that my even being in Sawyer’s car would be cause for discussion but he didn’t care. They refused to let me take the bus anymore and honestly, I was happy to be driven. It was a taste of luxury, and with a baby growing in my belly, it was definitely safer.

My happy, blissful bubble lasted until the elevator doors opened onto the office floor and all hell broke loose.

There was a tense air in the office as we headed to our desks. No one would look at us, which was normal when it came to Sawyer and Kane. But no one looked at me either. Usually, I got a wave and a few morning smiles, but not today.

Today, everyone was tense with their heads down and gazes averted. When we reached Sawyer’s office, we saw why.

Sawyer’s father Marcus was standing by the desk with his back turned. Just a glimpse of him had my stomach sinking right out of my ass and a wave of cramp twisted below my navel. Marcus was never a good sign.

“Father?” Sawyer took the lead, stepping forward in greeting.

Marcus spun on the spot, his face contorted with rage and he threw a large newspaper directly into Sawyer’s face.

“When were you going to tell me?” he roared, causing Kane and I to jump. “That you got that little whore pregnant?!”

My blood ran cold. Our relationship was to remain a secret until I was in my new job position, but as Sawyer turned over the newspaper in his hands, I saw the truth blasted across the front page.

CEO Sawyer Crane gets employee pregnant.

Me. I’m the employee.

Fuck.

Kane’s fingers touched my elbow, turning into a firm grip that kept me steady.

“You are front page news boy,” Marcus yelled. “Because you couldn’t keep your fucking dick in your pants! On top of that, I saw her with Liam so not only did you get an employee pregnant, you got a whore pregnant!”

My cheeks flared hot as if I’d just been slapped and humiliation burned through me like a rapid inferno. A reflex apology clung to the tip of my tongue but I didn’t have a chance to speak.

“I don’t care,” Sawyer snapped, throwing the paper directly back at his father. “It’s idle gossip. Since when have we ever cared what they print about us in the papers?”

“Gossip ruins lives,” Marcus hissed, slamming the paper down on the desk.

“Only if people listen to it. Which I won’t because it’s nobody’s business.”

“You don’t deny it?!” Marcus’s head tipped back and his eyes were wild. “It’s not gossip if it’s true you buffoon!”

Sawyer turned his head slightly, catching Kane’s eye then suddenly I was guided out of the office. The door slammed closed, and an explosive argument erupted inside just as Liam arrived. His smile immediately twisted into a grimace of concern.

“What’s going on?” Liam asked, taking my other arm despite my protests. They led me to my desk and Kane coaxed me to sit down.

“Callie’s pregnancy is all over the news, attached to Sawyer’s name.”

“Shit,” Liam breathed. “How the hell did they find out?”

“I’m sorry,” I said weakly. “I should have been more careful.”

“No, this wasn’t you,” Kane said and his tone took a sharp edge. “Fucking Eli. Even when he’s down and out, he can’t lose gracefully.”

“You think he leaked it?” Liam placed his hand on my shoulder and squeezed gently.

“Who else?” Kane rolled his eyes.

As the argument worsened, I reached for Liam’s hand. “Sawyer shouldn’t be alone with him. You know what he’s like.”

A flash of realization crossed Liam’s face, then he darted across the room and into the office.

“Sawyer’s father is?—.”

“A monster,” I remarked bitterly. “I’ve seen how Sawyer is around him and I’ve seen how he treats him. That man is nothing but hatred wrapped up in a sour bow.”

“Wow,” Kane snorted softly. “We seem to attract those kinds of people, don’t we.”

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the door, concerned for the outcome of such a terrible fight, when a thought crossed my mind. “If this was Eli… Do you think he’ll try something else? Something worse?”

“I won’t let him anywhere near you,” Kane said firmly, leaning against my desk and taking my hand. “His threats mean nothing. It changed nothing between us and it’s just his last, desperate attempt to try and publicly discredit Sawyer. You know the vultures will be all over Sawyer sleeping with an employee.”

I tore my gaze away from the door and gazed up at Kane. “Will he be in trouble?”

Kane grimaced and shook his head. “I don’t know, honestly. But whatever he wants to do, however he wants to tackle this, we will support him.”

The loud voices suddenly calmed and the door to Sawyer’s office ripped open. He strode out, his cheeks slightly red from the argument, and headed toward us followed closely by Liam.

Marcus remained in the office but it was clear from the look on Sawyer’s face that the fight was over. As he stopped next to me, my hands tingled with the urge to reach out and comfort him but I couldn’t. All curious eyes in the office were fixed on us, and now I knew that they had all seen the paper; I couldn’t make things worse.

“Are you okay?” I asked, giving him a quick scan over.

He met my eyes and a small smile flickered across his lips. “I’m fine.”

“Kane.”

“Yes?” Kane slid forward from my desk and straightened up.

“I believe I have a new proposal for you.”
