44. FORTY-THREE
FORTY-THREE
T he heat that usually sat in Davina's chest slipped away for just a few moments.
In those mere twenty seconds, she was left cold, but then a joyous heat coursed into her veins. Starting from her heart and then spreading across the rest of her body. It was a pleasant heat, like the warmth of her fire abilities but with more potency.
Davina swam in the warmth that flooded her soul. She recalled a time when she'd felt cold because of the solitude she was thrust into at such a young age, but that was before she had activated her powers.
For so long, her abilities had been the comfort she lacked from her parents.
A light at the end of the darkness appeared across her vision. Davina rushed toward it. She wondered how she was able to get near the light so quickly since she was unable to see her own body. It was as if she was invisible.
All she knew was that she was a soul. Eternally alive. The light that she was nearing was equally comforting as the fire inside of her. She felt herself jump with happiness as she danced in the brilliance around her.
Many may think that there is nothing as strong as death, but you have proved to them all that love can be just as powerful.
Davina stopped at the echo of the King's voice. She could feel herself freezing in her invisible spot as her eyes scanned around the luminosity. She couldn't find him anywhere.
"Magnar? Where are you?" she questioned.
I'm right here.
"Where?"
Right before you.
"I can't see you."
Yes, you can.
"I don't," she stuttered.
I'm the light in which you are standing in right now and the warmth you feel in your bones.
"Really? You can do that?"
I am everywhere. I am in your power, in your friends, in your ability to fight, in the love you have for others, and in your sacrifice. I promised you that I would be everywhere you go.
"I've only begun to realize how true that is."
The King chuckled.
You and Ron accepted to sacrifice your lives because of love. If you two had not truly loved, you would not have been able to overcome death.
"Overcome death? What do you mean?"
Using your true power given to you at birth, from me. It manifested little by little since your activation ceremony. The purple fire, then your wings, and then the sudden enhanced strength. But you must make haste and wake up! Raven's pity for having dispatched you has run thin, and she is planning another attack on your friends. I guaranteed you and your friends that there would be victory, I will be there fighting against the evil forces that have attacked us and you shall decide what to do with Raven at the end.
"I don't understand. How am I going to go back to life?"
Your true gift is giving you the capability to come back to life. You shall never truly die. You will be powerful among the nations and among your enemies. Your enemies will tremble at the mention of your name. And you will grow in wisdom, riches, and power. Now, wake up and embrace your true gift.
"But what is my true gift, Father?"
You have the power of a Phoenix.
