EPILOGUE
Later that afternoon, while we were still lounging in his nest, Damien's phone beeped. He took it, stared at the screen for a second, then blurted out, "You’re not gonna believe this!"
I leaned over his shoulder, eager to see.
"My uncle really took that whole ‘gratitude for saving his life’ thing to the next level!"
"What does it say? Read it!" I urged, sneaking a playful kiss on his cheek as I moved closer.
"He said he pressured the Ragu couple. If you and I are granted shares in Fate’s Choice, he’ll sign the deal with them for those genetic tests… and it’ll be exclusive! That’ll launch the company into the stratosphere! And Ragu accepted!"
We both stared at each other, wide-eyed. I broke into a huge grin.
"Wow, seriously? Did he just set us up for life?"
"Sure looks like it!"
"But why did he include me? I’m just a guy he saw by his nephew’s side—it could just be a fling…"
Damien blushed. "When we were left alone in this demolished lounge room, I may have… briefly mentioned that you are most likely my True."
I gaped in surprise.
He shrugged his shoulders and muttered, "Well, he took it well. Probably, seeing you’re a purple, he just assumed it’s probable."
I scratched my chin thoughtfully. "Well, if we’re gonna have a stake in this business, it’s time to get serious about finding True Mates for our clients. I already know who I’d want to add to the existing list. He might be one of the more ‘difficult’ clients because of his attitude, but I’m ready to fight tooth and nail to convince him. And when I do, I’ll bring the perfect match for him."
"Who are you talking about?" Damien asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Blue himself, of course! Out of everyone I know, he’s the one who could really use a smile from Fate."
Damien’s face lit up instantly, and the next thing I knew, he jumped into my arms full speed.
