Transcript Hook’s Tape

Hook: I doubt hypnosis is going to work on me, love. But I could use a nice nap. It's your time you're wasting.

Dr. Masterson:All right, now I want you to close your eyes and take a series of deep breaths. With every exhale, I want you to remind yourself that you are safe. Let your body sink down into the comfort of your surroundings. Feel each of your muscles relax, starting with your toes, now your feet, ankles, calves.

clothes rustling>>

Dr. Masterson: How do you feel, Caspian?

Hook:Relaxed. A little bored, if I'm being honest.

Dr. Masterson: Hold on to that as we move into this next part. If at any time you feel threatened, I want you to take a deep breath and remind yourself that you are safe. That I'm right here and I will not let anything happen to you.

Hook: *sigh*Okay.

Hook: *snores*

Dr. Masterson: Caspian, I know you're not asleep.

Hook: You're no fun. All right, I'll get serious.

clothes rustling>>

Hook: Mesmerize me, Doc.

Dr. Masterson: *huff* Imagine you are standing at the top of a staircase. Can you picture it?

Hook: Yes. I have quite the active imagination, as you well know.

Dr. Masterson: Lovely. Now, you're going to take a step down, and as you do, I want you to remember your arrival in this realm.

Hook: Glorious day, that. My arrivals always are.

Dr. Masterson: Caspian, be serious.

Hook: As a heart attack, love.

ticking metronome>>

Dr. Masterson: All right, Caspian. I want you to focus on the ticking. Do you hear it?

Hook: How can I not, Doc? It's bloody distracting. Ticktock. Ticktock. Like that bleeding crocodile.

Dr. Masterson: Anytime your thoughts begin to run away with you, I want you to refocus on the metronome.

Hook: Fine, fine. *mutters under breath* Tick... tick... tick...

Dr. Masterson: Tell me about the crocodile, Caspian.

Hook: Don't want to. He's been after me since I woke up as Hook. He's a menace.

Dr. Masterson: I didn't realize Ravenndel had crocodiles.

Hook: Just this one.

Dr. Masterson: Why do you think that is? Why is it fixated on you?

Hook: How should I know? It follows me everywhere. That ticking.

Dr. Masterson: Caspian, can we talk about the ticking? It's an interesting feature for a crocodile to have. As far as I know, they don't tick.

Hook: *grumbles* This one did. It ticked down the seconds, haunting my nightmares. I thought I'd be rid of it when I got to Ravenndel, but once I woke on that bloody ship, it was back.

Dr. Masterson: Wait, so you heard it before you became Hook?

ticking metronome>>

Dr. Masterson: Caspian? Are you remembering something?

Hook: Maybe...

Dr. Masterson: Let's return to the staircase. I want you to picture a door at the bottom. Can you see the door, Caspian?

Hook: Aye.

Dr. Masterson: Your life before you became Hook is on the other side of it. We're going to move down the staircase, and when you open that door, your prior life will be available to you, all right?

Hook:If you say so.

Dr. Masterson: Are you at the door, Caspian?

Hook: Aye.

Dr. Masterson: Open it.

clothes rustling>>

Hook: I didn't want to marry her. That was why I broke the clock.

Dr. Masterson: A clock? I thought we were looking for the crocodile.

Hook: The crocodile was the clock. Rather, it was turned into one. It was a gift from my betrothed's family.

Dr. Masterson: Tell me why you didn't want to marry her.

Hook: *scoffs* Would you want to marry someone you didn't love? If I am going to be tied down forever, it will only happen for true love. My fated.

pen tapping paper>>

Dr. Masterson: And what makes you think you have a fated? Those are incredibly rare, even amongst the fae.

Hook: The Court Seer told me I did. She read my cards and promised me my fated would come to me.

Dr. Masterson: And you believe her?

Hook: *snorts*She's never been wrong. Sure, some of the details tend to be wonky, but the big things were always true.

Dr. Masterson: And what details were wrong for you?

Hook: She told me my fated would ride into my life on a pale horse with the dead trailing in her wake. That was a little far-fetched even for me. But she was clear about one thing: I wasn't meant for Drusilla or anyone my parents forced upon me. My mate would find me when I least expected her.

Dr. Masterson: You don't believe that could still be true?

Hook: How can it be? I was a different person then. A prince. *bitten off laugh* She called me a hero.

Dr. Masterson: Capsian... are you... crying?

Hook: I was supposed to be the heart of my people. Now I'm heartless. *angry shuddering breath* I'm nothing but a heartless villain.

Dr. Masterson: Perhaps you'll find her here.

Hook: Even if I did, Doctor, people like me don't deserve love. Happily ever afters are only guaranteed to the do-gooders, and my soul is blacker than ink. There's no chance I'll ever find what I was promised. If she's still out there, she's no longer meant for me. I've lost her. My one true love. My fated. The only love I'll ever know is the sea.

Dr. Masterson: And what if you find her despite all odds? What if destiny is on your side even though you're a villain, as you say?

Hook: Then I would stand at her side and be hers to command. Her villain. Her mate. Everything that I am would belong to the woman fate sent to me, even the blackened remains of my heart.
