Chapter 2

chapter two

Quinn

I rush quickly away from the guy on the deck ogling my boobs, and try my best to remember what he said his name was.

Pheonix or something? The guy was basically rambling and mumbling. It was fucking weird.

I find myself basically running back to my room, that is, until I'm not running anymore. I'm face down on the pool deck with everything in my bag spread out around me, and a trickle of blood on my elbow.

Shit.

I feel the eyes of some people on me as I roll onto my back in embarrassment. Am I the clumsiest human on the face of this earth? Yes, yes I am.

"Damn, are you okay?"

A hand falls to my forearm and I open my eyes to see who it is.

Him.

I squirm away as fast as I can to distance myself from him.

"I'm fine." I growl, "Just tripping over myself to get away from you?"

His brows twist, and his forefinger turns to his chest, "Me?"

This guy is really fucking weird, honestly.

"Yeah, you know when you were sexually harassing me all of forty five seconds ago?"

He steps back and watches as I cram all of my shit back into my bag.

"I've been over here this entire time, are you sure you didn't hit your head when you fell? Do you want me to walk you to the doctor?"

This fucking guy.

"I'm not sure what type of shit you are trying to pull but honestly just leave me alone, Phoenix. Or whatever your name is."

The corners of his eyes tilt upward, and his lips break into a huge smile, and I'm seriously contemplating screaming for help.

"I'm Levi."

The look on my face right now. I swear to God if you could frame it or bottle it up, it could definitely be used in a horror movie. I need to get the hell out of here. This is the type of story you see on the ID Channel. I quickly shoulder my bag and start to back away.

His words stop me in my tracks, "Are you talking about my brother?"

I turn back to him, scanning him from head to toe. He is wearing a completely different outfit from a minute ago.

"You have his face?"

His laugh booms, "Well, technically, he has my face cause I'm older, but only by a few minutes."

"You're twins?"

"That's usually how it works. Two guys. Same birthday. Similar face."

He flashes his perfect teeth and, suddenly, this one doesn't seem so bad.

"I think I saw you at the club last night?" He says.

"Yeah," I cringe, "I don't really remember."

He laughs, "Me either but I apologize if you saw me dance. It's not really my thing."

"Dancing isn't really my thing either," I admit. "Actually anything that requires coordination is hard for me. If it's not dancing then what is your thing?"

He bobs his head from side to side like he's thinking, "To be determined."

I snort a laugh, "Literally, same."

He offers his elbow, "Wanna go grab a snack?"

I slip my arm through his and walk with him to the snack bar.

"What did my brother say to you? You were pissed."

I snarl, "Well, first he walked straight up to me and asked me if my boobs were real. Then he started babbling about Phoenix or some shit."

Levi basically spits out the drink he just filled up, "Oh my god. He really asked you that? That doesn't seem like him at all."

"He was acting super weird, that's for sure."

"When we were little, we would pretend our names were Phoenix and Apollo but I've never heard him say that to anyone now. That was just treehouse lingo."

I shrug my shoulders, "Was he high?"

"Oh no. Absolutely not. He doesn't put any of that shit into his body. He doesn't even drink. When his friends pressure him, he'll sneak and pour it out then replace it with water."

"Wow, he must be serious about avoiding the Freshman 15."

Levi scoffs, "No, he's serious about football and absolutely nothing else."

I nudged him playfully, "Well, he has your face so I'm gonna go ahead and assume that he's probably serious about the ladies."

"Are you saying I'm beautiful?" Levi grins.

"I'm saying you aren't a total eye sore."

He flashes me a smile, "Gee, thanks. Good to know I'm not completely disgusting looking."

I smile. "You're decent, I suppose."

We sit and talk for a while, about school and what we are both planning on studying. He wants to go into journalism, preferably sports, and I tell him how I absolutely have no idea what I want to do with my life. Surprisingly, he doesn't judge. He tells me about how he used to play football and his heart surgery.

I learn this guy's entire life story and he acts genuinely interested in learning mine, but I don't tell him everything. I leave out most of the details, just hitting the high points. You know the necessary things you tell someone you just met.

Levi's attention turns to the corner of the room, where Phoenix orders some food. With both of them standing in front of me, I notice some differences.

Phoenix looks to have about 10 more pounds of solid muscle than Levi, and his hair is cut a little shorter, where Levi's is long enough to curl up at his ears. I take him in, noticing how thick his legs are.

"You keep staring at him like that, he's likely to walk straight over here and fuck you on this table."

I give him a sincere "go to hell" look.

He holds his hands up in surrender, "I'm just saying, you are very obviously checking him out."

I roll my eyes, "I am not. He's definitely not my type."

Phoenix turns to us, his eyes easily landing on the two of us. His hair peeks through the hole above the closure on his backward hat.

"You literally just said I wasn't disgusting looking."

I sigh, quickly babbling, "Yeah well now that I see you both together it's obvious you are fraternal twins."

He raises a brow, knowing they do in fact look very similar, and I'm full of shit.

"He's coming over here."

I shake my head and laugh, grabbing my bag and what's left of my drink, "Maybe I'll see you at the club tonight? I'm not really in the mood for Phoenix right this second."

Levi laughs, and I walk away before his brother reaches our table because even though he was acting like a pig earlier today, I will admit, he's better than decent looking.

I didn't think I actually had a type but unfortunately it's six foot gorgeous fuckboys who think it's okay to say inappropriate things to strangers.
