Chapter 14

chapter fourteen

Gavin

"Where have you been?" I ask Remi, as he struts in mine and Levi's apartment.

"Yeah bro," Levi groans, "we've been waiting for like two hours."

"Studying," he shrugs. "Ran into a friend at the library and we couldn't stop talking."

"A friend, ay?" Levi wiggles his eyebrows, causing Remi to blush.

"Yeah, the girl from history. Quinn."

Levi cringes, "I'm sorry, bro."

"It's alright," He shrugs. "She used to date Collins, and that is some baggage I'm not sure I want. Even if she is hot."

"Collins?" Levi asks, surprised. "They dating now?"

"No," Remi says, "but he walks around peeing on her like they are."

"That's gross," I huff. "I don't know how any female could put up with his ego."

Remi shakes his head, "Quinn is so good, bro. She's like the nicest girl I've ever seen, and she seems patient enough to deal with him, but I don't think she wants to."

"Wonder why they broke up?" Levi speaks up.

"I don't know." Remi says, taking his backpack off and slipping it onto the back of one of the dining room chairs. "Seems like he fucked up the way he's following her around."

"Probably has something to do with all those sluts he has around him 24/7. She probably didn't know about all the girls he fucked while here for summer practice." Levi says.

"Guy is a prick," I state. "Who cares?"

"Remi!" Levi whines, waving his arms to our friend, who does look a little mopey.

"It's okay," Remi puffs, blowing out a dramatic breath. "Sometimes getting friend zoned isn't so bad. Her roommate is cute."

Levi perks up, "See that's what I'm talking about, bro. Who is she?"

"Her name is Ava. She is barely 5 feet tall and has an attitude."

I laugh, "Sounds perfect for you."

"She's a spitfire," Remi smirks. "But I don't know if she's into me."

I think about how I acted with Daisy on the cruise. A lot like Remi, actually. Tripping over words, wondering if she liked me, literally praying that she did.

"Just don't act as stupid as I did on the cruise," I admit. "I met this girl and totally acted like a jackass."

"Yeah, he did." Levi laughs, "Totally fumbled the bag with her."

Except, I didn't.

I had the most amazing night with her, one I'll never forget. I pull out my phone, and scroll through the pictures from the cruise while the guys keep going on and on about the game this weekend.

I know I should be more focused but I just can't seem to shake her, or the thoughts of her spread out with my head between her thighs.

That's a thought that has invaded my mind from the moment it happened. I wish it would've happened more than once. Finally, I pause on a picture of her. She's fucking beautiful, facing the water looking over the railing of the ship. Her blonde hair swings like strands of honey down her tan back. The single daisy I gave her behind her ear.

Daisy.

I bet that wasn't even her real name, since she didn't seem too interested in knowing my real name. She called me Phoenix the entire time, and I know it was because her stranger danger instincts kicked in, but it didn't bother me.

It felt good to not be Gavin Richardson for a minute.

I search for "Daisy" on Instagram again for longer than I'd like to admit, and then call it a loss. Remi and Levi moved from football conversation to video games, and I decide it is better that I study the playbook.

I still don't understand the switch. I got here based on my performance at safety, and now they wanna move me? Bullshit.

Not to mention the fact that working with Collins isn't something I have on my to-do list. Like, ever.

"I'm going to bed," I announce before heading up the stairs to my room. "I'll see you guys tomorrow."

"Yeah, at fucking 5am workouts," Remi whines.

"Shit," I mumble. "I forgot tomorrow is Monday."

"Gavin, your abs have abs," he laughs. "My abs are starting to hide under the food."

That isn't true. Remi is fit.

"You look fine," I argue.

"Yeah, but not next to you. You spent all summer in the gym."

That's fair, I guess. "Then I'll see you at workouts, and the gym tomorrow night, bitch."

He laughs, pulling the headset back over his ear, "Goodnight, asshole."

"Goodnight."

4:15am comes earlier than I expected when my alarm blares on the nightstand. I nearly trip over the bag from the cruise I've yet to unpack, and that fucks my mind up. I instantly think about Daisy. I wish I would've gotten something to be able to contact her. A number, her fucking instagram handle, anything.

I step into the shower, and let the water run down my head and close my eyes as it flows down my face. I want more with her.

More of everything.

My dick grows hard the more I think of her, and I can't help but wrap my hand around it.

It's nearly throbbing as I begin to stroke, thoughts of her filling my head as I work every last drop of cum from my body.

A long sigh escapes me as I breathe her name into the steam. A release I guess I knew I needed before a long day of football and classes.

Thirty minutes later I'm in the weightroom with the team, and I notice Huddy and Remi laughing about something in the corner of the room. I join them, and begin laughing too when I notice that Collins has a bit of a black eye.

"What the fuck happened to him?" I ask.

Remi shrugs, "Guess he ran his mouth to the wrong person."

I can't help but smile, "I've wanted to punch him on more than one occasion so I believe it."

Huddy leans in whispering, "I heard he slept with Warren's girl."

"Warren?" I question. "As in our senior starting QB Jaylen Warren?"

Huddy nods, "Yep, bold move."

"That's fucking wild, but I wouldn't doubt it."

"Me neither," Remi agrees.

"What the fuck are you over here whispering about?" Collins asks, "If you wanna talk shit, do it to my face."

Huddy laughs, "If you wanna fuck girls, make sure they aren't dating one of your teammates."

Collins steps closer, moving toe to toe with Huddy and puffs out his chest, "You don't know shit. Shut the fuck up."

Huddy hates confrontation, but he's a bit of a hothead.

"You shut up or I'll black your other eye."

I shake my head, "That's enough. We're supposed to be a team. How the fuck are we gonna win a fucking game if we can't get along."

I know the guy is dick, but fuck, I didn't come to Ridge U to lose football games. That's exactly what is gonna happen if we don't get it together.

"Always the good guy, huh Richardson?"

I look at him and try to shake the feeling of wanting to punch him in the face. His shirt draws my attention, black and red with a simple athletic lettering. The word Bobcats across the chest.

Instantly my mind goes straight back to Daisy.

Fucking hell.
