Chapter 47
CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN
ORION
W endy's new thing was inventing games for us to play. The latest involved catching honey pots as they fell from the sky and stopping some bears from stealing them. Kind of intense, a lot happening on her screen at once. The highest score I'd managed so far was like nine points.
Beep, beep.
I looked down at the screen after another failure to reach double digits.
It's all about the fun, Orion.
Don't worry about points.
I smiled. "You're right."
The text vanished, the bee back.
Beep, beep.
After feeding her, I put on a fresh pot of coffee.
Miko was already up, a much earlier riser than me. I'm talking unholy hours, like five in the morning. Normally, I wouldn't ever see that time of day, but this morning was different.
We wanted to see sunrise together.
I poured us both a cup, heading out to meet him on the beach wearing his red shirt and a pair of my boxers. His clothes hung off me, the shirt open and billowing in the breeze, his smell all over my body.
Just how I liked it.
He stood close to the water's edge, eyes on Blonde Rock. My eyes drank in his gray vest and shorts clinging to his muscles perfectly, wondering if we should try sex on the beach for breakfast.
"Morning," I said, my groin hot.
"Hey. Thanks." He took the coffee mug and we kissed.
The dark-blue sky of morning washed with the pretty red-and-orange palette of sunrise, the sun almost cresting the horizon.
I sipped my coffee beside him.
"It's so lovely here," he said.
"It is."
I wasn't sure when we were leaving. We'd have to at some point, but I wanted at least four more days of quality time with my yummy slice of alpha.
"Good coffee, too," he added after a sip.
"I want to make you coffee every morning."
He smiled at me. "We can share the duty."
"And today I'm making you amber spuds with spicy cream," I said.
"What's that?"
"Faery's version of jacket potatoes. I reckon you'll like them."
"Cool. Looking forward to it."
I'm not sure where the next part came from. I put it down to feeling all squishy and fuzzy, still glowing inside and out from our lovemaking and my mama's embracing of us.
What a great place we were in. What a happy turn of events.
Enough joy to make me blurt, "And one day, I'll make you my husband."
Pixie balls!
I scrambled to retract it, my face on fire, unable to look at him. "Sorry. Thinking out loud. I… Oh… I…"
Crap.
"I like your way of thinking, Orion."
My embarrassment crashed. I looked at him, a grin on his handsome face. "You do?"
"I'll be your husband."
I almost dropped my coffee from the rush of ecstasy in my body. "You will?"
"Fuck yeah."
He dropped his mug and ran at me, wrestling me to the sand. Off went my coffee mug, and I didn't care.
This werewolf wanted to be my husband as well as my mate.
Wow.
He spread out on top of me, the tip of his nose on mine.
"Miko…"
"Orion…"
I slid my hands down his back. "Can you kiss me?"
"Forever and always, my sexy fae fiancé."
At that moment, the sun came up, bathing the beach in glorious light.
"Really?" I said.
"Fuck. Yeah."
Stars, I loved the sound of that.
Very, very much.
The End
Dear Reader,
Thanks so much for reading Heart of Dawn and the Curse of Dawn series. I've had such a blast writing the books, and I hope you've enjoyed this crazy journey.
Orion and Miko have certainly earned their HEA, right?
I'm really going to miss them.
Okay, I'm off to find cake.
Sending lots of love!
