Chapter 27: Greer

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Greer

W aking from slumbering as a vampire is nothing like waking from a normal night of sleep. Once I’m out, I don’t toss or turn. There’s no needing to pop up for a bathroom visit. I don’t even dream anymore, or if I do, I don’t remember a thing about them when I wake. Then again, it’s only been two nights of being fully transformed.

My eyes pop open, finding my nose buried in Novak’s throat, and his very hard cock pokes me through the material of his thin sweatpants.

If Seiran doesn’t bring my clothes from Granny’s house, I’m going to need to swing by myself to grab them. I’ve been sleeping in one of their shirts, and Reign thoughtfully dressed me yesterday, but I don’t want to tap his magic for every outfit that needs alterations. Although, that dress was stunning in a way nothing in my wardrobe could compare to.

Novak’s fingers tease through my hair as I use my hands on his shoulders to push up to study his face. “Good evening. How was your slumber?”

The silvery marks on his throat seem to hold every bit of my attention, which is weird because he’s beyond sexy with his dark hair falling over his forehead.

“Good. Can I ask about these?” I ask, running my fingers over the slight indents.

My sire nods. “In your weakened state, I missed the signs. The main one would have been an all-encompassing attraction to your scent, but your smell was off during our first few meetings.”

“Right,” I agree. “Before I was turned, my sense of smell was on par with a human’s. Then I was so sick…”

He doesn’t need to feel bad.

I missed it too.

Novak rolls us, and before I can blink, I’m staring up at his ruggedly handsome face. I bring a hand up, running it over his scratchy beard.

“You do sense the connection now. Don’t you, pet?”

“Yeah, I do.” I mean, I assume it’s some combination of the maker bond and us being fated, but I definitely feel a strong connection to him. There’s a yearning in my soul to touch him, and my skin buzzes with contentment when we’re close.

He lowers his body weight until he pushes me into the mattress deliciously. I’m not sure why, but my system loves the confined feeling of being trapped under him.

Novak pushes his lips to mine, swirling his tongue over Seiran’s bondmark. He’s bossy and controlling as he fucks his tongue into my mouth, and I’m so here for it.

I groan, chasing his lips as he pulls back. That was way too fast. I need more of that and maybe a little of him inside me.

I fall back against the mattress as his fully white eyes meet mine.

“I’m afraid I went too long without feeding.” He brushes his fingers over my cheek and tilts my head to the side. He strikes my throat, and I moan at the feeling of his venom pulsing in my bloodstream.

He grinds over me, forcing the tip of his heavy cock to bump my clit. Even the material of his sweats doesn’t lessen the sensation, but it would be so much better without the fabric in the way. Working a hand between us, I grip his shaft and squeeze. He hisses against my skin, dosing me once more with his venom.

Who knows why a bright smile breaks out over my face, but I really enjoy knowing how much he wants me.

His tongue brushing my skin sends a shiver throughout my body, and he bucks into my grip as I work on getting the other hand between us to tug down his sweats. Once they’re out of the way, I jerk his crown against my swollen clit.

Whoa.

I can’t decide if it’s his venom or my newfound vampire status, but my body seems ready to accommodate him with very little effort. His clawed hand lands on my breast and flicks his thumb over my aching nipple.

Retracting his fangs, he licks over the bite and bucks against me as I tighten my hold on his shaft.

Novak moves his mouth to mine for a soul-consuming kiss. He slides from my clit down to my opening, but no matter how I try to force him into me, he doesn’t dip more than an inch inside.

My entire body sizzles with the need to know what it will feel like to be stretched over him, but he pecks a kiss on my lips and pulls back until he’s kneeling.

“I let you slumber for as long as possible, but that means there’s no time for this. We have a meeting with Black Cove’s paranormal council liaison that we can’t be late for.”

My feet stamp against the bed as I groan. “No way! We can be quick.”

Novak chuckles darkly. “Well, I suppose I can spare a minute or two to make you come on my tongue.” He smirks and kisses my nose before climbing down my body.

My hands fall to my thighs. Dammit, I really wanted him to fuck me.

Novak shoves two fingers inside my core, slamming deep. Oh, okay, that works. My hands move into his hair, preparing to reposition him where it’ll feel the best.

Only, his tongue hits my clit, moving at super speed, and my whole body jolts. Terribly embarrassing sounds spill from my lips as he focuses on turning me into a puddle of goo. My thighs shake, then fall to the mattress when my feet give up on holding them up. My legs end up in a V with my toes digging into his ribs.

Novak knows exactly where to aim his fingers to push against my G-spot with every thrust of his hand into my core.

A ridiculous amount of time later, my pleasure builds to the point I can’t hold back my orgasm. My top half curves off the mattress as euphoria rips through my cells.

Sex is so much more intense as a vampire, and my body trembles and shakes for what feels like ages.

Novak chuckles, and the cool air over my clit makes my nipples tighten painfully. “If we had time, I’d do that another half dozen times.” He rakes his teeth over my thigh, and I groan. “We’ll have to settle for picking this up later.”

Yes, we definitely will.

I need the chance to make him feel as incredible as he just made me feel.

Reign appears shortly after Novak and I step out of the shower. My vampire heads into his room to get dressed, but Reign smirks and prowls closer, looking more dangerous than I knew possible.

He’s always lighthearted and has this easygoing energy that’s addictive. It makes me feel safe, but at the moment, I feel hunted. My back hits the wall as the mimic comes to a stop in front of me. He’s so tall, I have to tilt my head back and it kind of twists against the wall because I have nowhere else to retreat to.

“What do you have in mind for tonight, darling? Something a little flirty, or should we go for demure to confuse the council?” he asks with his big gray eyes sparkling.

“Whatever you think is appropriate,” I say, studying his handsome face. He really does have a vibe, with the runes going all the way up into the shaved hair on the sides of his head and down to his fingers.

“Novak is too…” Reign frowns. “Well, I wouldn’t have thought the word honorable would pop into my mind, but that’s the one I’m going with. He’s too honorable to ask you to lie to the council on his behalf.”

“Why would I need to lie?”

“Not about the details of your original maker, nor about the specifics of your initial turning.” Reign shrugs. “The humans we used in your transformation made a tiny little complaint.”

I gasp and my eyes widen. “Oh God, I don’t remember anything… Just tell me what to say.”

“If you don’t remember anything regarding the humans, then that’s perfect. All you have to do is be honest about your lack of memories. Seiran, Novak, and I will do the rest.” He tugs the knot on my towel. “Now, let’s see what I can create to make you look like a sweet, non-dangerous vampire.”

“Thank you,” I whisper, still captivated by his piercing gaze.

“Always, darling,” he murmurs, sliding his hand down my front. “Dressing you brings me joy.”

I glance down, looking at the white lacy dress he covers me with. It’s fitted around my chest and flares out around my hips. My toes wiggle, and I pull my foot up to check out the tan and white ballet flat.

“How did you know I prefer flats over heels?” I ask, fluttering my lashes and tilting my head up toward his.

“Lucky guess.” He chuckles, dipping his head to mine as his shadows pull me flush to his front.

Reign is certainly delicious in his own right.

Bart is very take no bullshit , and I’m not sure he believes me, even though I’ve been nothing but truthful. He seems annoyed as he scribbles on the notebook laid out on the table in between us.

“Cole,” he says, narrowing his eyes. “That’s all you’ve got. No last name, no maker information, just Cole .”

I swallow thickly, nodding. “That is correct. Um, I know he was new to town. I think he was staying at a friend’s house…” Wow, it does sound like I’m lying to cover for him. “But the more I think about it, I believe it’s possible he compelled me before trying to turn me. I don’t know about the housing market in Black Cove, but trying to find a place to live in Haven is insanely difficult. I feel like I would have pressed for more information if he hadn’t compelled me not to.” My head continues bobbling up and down, like I can force him to believe me if I try hard enough.

“That’s not much to go on,” Bart says, dropping his pen. “I’ll reach out to Haven’s town council to see if they can share any additional information, but considering he wasn’t a resident, I wouldn’t count on them being able to apprehend him. He knows you have friends and family who would notice that you went missing. He likely ordered you out of town with the hope you would fully transform into a ghoul and thus be unable to give any information, even the little you had .”

Something about his tone makes me frown. Before I was changed, my siren blood was extra enticing to vampires, but I hope he’s not blaming me.

I’m the victim here, dammit .

I should have protected myself better, though. Then again, if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have met Seiran, Novak, or Reign.

My eyes narrow at the council jerk. “That may have been his plan, but luckily, it was thwarted.”

No wonder paranormal council agents are hated by pretty much all of monsterkind.
