36. Rebel

"This iswhy I don't like guarding stars, or as I call them, people who think they were put on this earth for everyone to kiss their feet," I said, glancing at Viper.

"At least it was only a week of wasted time, and we were paid full price for it. Now let's check on the girl and see if she needs help," Viper said.

My phone beeped, and I looked at the text. ‘There's been another email. You won't believe who is sending them, plus we found out there is another Reaper out there; he's a mafia guy. I believe the emails are meant for him. Anyway, the emails are coming from Evie McDonald's computer. If we found who was sending them, so can Mafia Reaper.'

"Okay, I'll call the rental company and tell them we will keep the vehicle longer. Do we have the address where Evie lives?" Viper asked.

"Yes, I'll google it," I said, asking Google to get me the address. It was about an hour from the city, which was a relief; I didn't particularly appreciate driving in all this congestion. We drove over an hour before we were on her street. I pulled up in front of the house, wondering if she was awake. I glanced at the clock, five-forty-five.

"Do you think they are awake?" Viper asked.

"There's only one way to find out. We'll ring the doorbell," we got out but before we could walk up to the door. We saw a woman sneaking out of the house; she shut the door quietly and locked it. I took a step back when she turned around. Damn, what the hell happened to her.

She stopped in her tracks and looked like she would make a run for it. I held up my hand, and she stopped and looked defeated.

"Are you going to kill me? If you are, can we please get away from my parent's home? They could go through watching their daughter murdered in their front yard."

"We aren't going to kill you. We are here to talk to you," I said, trying not to look at her closely. This woman had some problems; poor thing, I wondered what happened to her; it looked like she had the hell beat out of her. I glanced down at her body, and she was all lumpy.

"What do you want to talk to me about?"

"Can we go inside?"

"No, my parents have been through a lot lately, and my mother had a heart attack. They can't handle any more stress."

"Are you Evie McDonald?" I asked.

"Yes, who wants to know?"

"My name is Rebel Bellmont, and this is Viper Reed. We are from the Delta Force Guardians. We discovered you were sending emails on the dark web. At first we thought you were sending messages about my brother Reaper, but we just found out the messages you are sending are about a man high up in the mafia. Who also goes by the name Reaper," I said. I saw the terrified look on her face.

"We use our Delta Force names. My brother, Reaper, got his name from making sure the bodies of our fallen soldiers made it home. I'm pretty damn sure the other man got his nickname from how many people he's killed. Now, why would you even send these emails? And where the hell are you going dressed like that?"

She fainted. "I guess that was too much information at one time," I said as I picked her up. She opened her eyes. I knew she had decided to talk to us; I saw it in her eyes.

"You can put me down. I'm sure our neighbors are watching from their windows. I dressed like this because I go to the city and hang out where all the bad people are. I'm trying to find something out about my sister; she's been missing for nine months."

"We know about your sister, and I'm sorry she was taken. From this moment on, you will stop trying to find your sister. Viper and I will take over from here. You never told us why you are all made up?"

"When I go to the bad area of the city, I want to be as ugly as I can be so they won't take me too. Lucy, she's a homeless person whom I sometimes talk to; she said the cartel doesn't bother her because she's too ugly. So, my demented mind thought I could ask many more people questions. If they didn't like looking at me, they would leave me alone," Evie said.

I looked away so she wouldn't see me smile. When I looked back, she held a wig in her hand and a riot of red curls around her face. "Come in, please; I'll be right back. Make yourself at home. Go into the kitchen. I have just made a pot of coffee and some cinnamon rolls. Help yourself. I have to get this off before my parents wake up."

"Your father is already awake, my Dad said behind me, "What is going on with you?"

"Dad, can you please take care of our guest? I will explain everything when I get back," she said, running down the hall.

"Hello, my name is Rebel, and this is my teammate Viper. We are the Delta Force Guardians. We'll be taking over from now on. Evie is getting herself into some bad stuff. We heard about it from the FBI. So that should tell you she needs to stop what she's doing. We are so sorry that your daughter is missing. I poured a cup of coffee on us all, and Viper gave us each a cinnamon roll.

"I'm ready to talk now," I turned my head and couldn't catch my breath. Evie McDonald entered the kitchen, and she was beautiful. Not what I would call sexy in a sexy kind of way; she was just gorgeous. She had freckles, and her eyes were a dark blue. There wasn't anything about her that wasn't stunning, including her body.
