22. Ghost

Allisonand I slept the rest of that day until the next morning. When I opened my eyes, Allison was staring at me. I smiled, and she started crying.

"I thought I would never see you again. I was so scared. Don't tell my brothers I said that. But when Mike shows up, you know how worried they are. I always thought about how lucky I was that you loved me. I mean, you are this beautiful man who has every woman in the world wanting him. I'm just Allison.

"You have never been just Allison. Are you kidding me? You are the beautiful one; I'm a man; I'm not beautiful. You're smarter than anyone I know; everyone we know loves you. You are a Doctor, and you take care of everyone. I've loved you since I was fifteen. I have a surprise."

"What is it?"

"We are going on an African safari for our honeymoon."

"We are? I've never thought about an African safari. Is it safe?"

"Of course, it's safe. I would never take you anywhere that wasn't safe."

"Then I'm so excited. When are we going?"

"Monday."

"This coming Monday? How exciting."

"No, not this Monday, but next Monday. And it will be fun. We'll see so many different wild animals. Remember, we discussed this when we were in high school. I remember you saying you wanted us to go on a Safari. So that's what we are going to do," I said, pulling her on top of me.

"Plus, we will be alone for two weeks without all these people. That reminds me, Benni and Amy went home, and Spartan is not happy. He wants his daughter near him, so I told him he should move in over there. Her home is as large as this one."

"Aww, I'm going to miss Benni and Amy. It feels good to be home. I was so scared I would never see you again," she said before kissing me. That was all it took for me to have the little top she wore off in the blink of an eye.

We made love, showered, and then we went hunting for food.

"Good morning," Rebel said when we walked into the kitchen. "It's good to see you home safe, Allison."

"I'm so happy to be here," Allison said as I opened the fridge and took out things for an omelet while Allison poured our coffee.

I had some news this morning from Benni; she said that the man who took you left a message about where you were and that he didn't want to go to prison, so he decided to end his life. He said he didn't have anyone who would miss him. But he knew they would miss his money, so he gave it all to St Jude's Children"s Research Hospital."

"Am I awful that I feel nothing, that a man took his life? I am glad that he's giving his money to the Children's Hospital, but that's all I feel. Do you think I'm becoming jaded, being around all of you, Delta Force men?"

"Probably," Rebel said as he poured a cup of coffee. "So, what do you think about your Safari honeymoon?"

"Well, Ghost says he remembers me saying I want to go on a Safari, so I'm excited about going," Allison explained.

I looked at Rebel, and we both chuckled. "Sweetheart, if you don't want to go on a Safari, I want you to tell me," I said, flipping our omelet.

"Are you kidding? I can't wait to leave on our honeymoon," she said, smiling.

"How did you get all these bruises?" Rebel asked, looking at her arms.

"I kept falling while trying to get up to the skylight. I'm really surprised he committed suicide. Who identified the body?"

"Benni said it was someone he knew from Spain," Rebel said as we sat down to eat. I made each of us an omelet.

"I'll tell you how you can find out if it was really him: find out how much money St. Jude"s Hospital received," I said, looking around.

"How would that tell us anything?" I asked, looking at Allison. My cousin Rebel was nodding, catching on before I did.

"He's a billionaire; if they receive over a billion dollars, then he's dead, if they didn't he's still around somewhere. Hopefully he's not still waiting for a chance to get Spartan."

"What? Why would you think that?" I asked. Should I call my cousin and tell him to watch his back?"

"He didn't seem to be the suicidal kind of person to me, and that just popped into my head."

"Fuck. How would we know what his lawyer sent to charity?"

"I'm sure you know people," she said, eating her omelet.

I picked up my phone and called Spartan. "Hey," I said.

"Why are you awake? I thought you would still be sleeping."

"Allison said she didn't think Robert Knight was the suicidal type."

"Fuck, I was worried about that. I guess that means I'll be guarding Benni and Amy until we find out if he's dead or not. I'll let her know now. Here she comes; I'll talk to you later," and then he hung up.

"He'll be busy guarding Benni and Amy until we find out if Robert Knight is dead or alive," I said, shaking my head; if he is alive, I would be the one killing him for taking my wife and locking her into a room she couldn't escape from.

Two hours later, Rebel walked to where we sat on the porch. Allison was sitting on my lap, giggling as I nibbled her ear.

"I have news: Robert Knight gave St. Jude Cancer Research Children"s Hospital thirty million dollars. So either the lawyer embezzled Billions of dollars from him, or the guy is still alive. I'm sure they took photos of the body, so I'll have them send the photos over to us."
