Chapter 5
CHAPTER 5
Matt
A girl answers the door, and immediately blushes when she sees me. I recognize her from the party last night. I think her name is Jill, but I can't recall. All I remember is that I wasn't a fan. Right from the moment she opened her mouth, she rubbed me the wrong way. She seemed conceited and shallow, but now that I know Sienna is in this sorority, I'm guessing all the girls are like that.
"Hi, Matt!" She gives me a flirtatious smile.
"Hey, Jill," Hunter says, stepping around me. "Can you let Sienna and my sister know we're here for them?"
Jill's smile drops, and she now looks irritated.
"I thought you had better taste, Hunter. How could you be going out with the girl who demanded she have your sister's room, and is now forcing Margot to live with her?"
Well, it doesn't sound like Sienna's changed at all; she's still acting like the queen bee and making her demands.
"I'm not the one who made the call." I hear the voice from behind Jill and see my old classmate standing only feet away, having heard every word that was said. I'd feel bad for the girl, but she needs to learn that there are consequences for her actions.
"My mother is the one who made the request, Jill. I'd rather not have to move if the choice was up to me. So maybe you should get your facts straight before you make assumptions about people."
Jill looks taken aback by the confrontation, but what I'm shocked about are the tears in Sienna's eyes. For as cold as her voice was, she looks upset. I've never seen any other emotion from the girl other than bitch .
"Hello, beautiful." Hunter steps around Jill and moves in, ignoring the entire scene that just went down and is already trying to get his hands on his date. Sienna straightens her shoulders, then turns to face him. Her fake smile is now firmly planted in place; she's acting as though the awkward confrontation never occurred as she greets him.
She now looks like the girl I remember back in school. Only…she's not wearing much makeup tonight. It's not caked on like she's heading to a photo shoot, covering up all her natural beauty. Her features are even more striking than I thought. Sienna's always been undeniably beautiful with her long, silky brown hair and her dark brown eyes, those sweetheart-shaped lips and the beauty mark right under her eye, but her stunning features are usually hidden under thick foundation and heavy eyeliner.
She's also dressed more conservatively than I've ever seen her. The floral dress she has on makes her look pretty and refined. The pink flats that are showing off her sexy legs make her look dainty and soft. And the pearls draped around her neck ... I quickly shove the thought away, shocked by the physical reaction happening inside my pants. I should not be going there with the girl. It's Sienna. She may look sweet on the outside, but I know just how sour she is underneath all that beauty.
"Is Margot ready?" I clear the frog in my throat and try to tame the beast rising in my pants. It suddenly feels way too hot in this room.
"I'm right here." Margot waves at me as she comes walking over, dressed in the tightest dress I've ever seen. It's low cut and barely covering her butt. Her makeup is so thickly lathered on her face, it looks like it would melt off if we were in the heat of the summer. Not to mention her ridiculously tall heels, which are giving off the whole stripper pole vibe. One look and thankfully the issue that was stirring in my pants is no longer a problem.
"Wow, Sienna." Margot's eyes roam over the girl who I'm trying not to look at. "You look like you're going to a country club luncheon." She laughs. "I may have to give your mom a call and tell her that you need some assistance with your wardrobe. She and I are besties now, by the way. Not sure if she told you about our little convo today."
And this is who I have the pleasure of spending the evening with, ladies and gentlemen. Her cattiness is shining through every feature, and her narrowed eyes and bitchy smirk make her look uglier than the makeup on her face. The night has only begun and I'm ready to make a run for it.
"Margot does have a point," Hunter chimes in. "What you're wearing isn't exactly suitable for going clubbing. Would you like to go change?"
Rudeness clearly runs in their family. And who said anything about clubbing? I thought we were taking the girls to dinner and then coming back. I'm not interested in going dancing. I don't want to have to spend any more time with them than is absolutely necessary.
"I thought we were going to dinner?" Sienna asks, mirroring my exact thought with the look on her face. "I have to study tonight, so I won't be able to stay out too late."
Studying on a Saturday night? That's hard for me to believe, but that's probably her excuse so she can end the date early. She's already moving in closer to me, getting away from Hunter's wandering hands. I don't get why she doesn't just tell the guy to fuck off and go study instead. Back in high school, she had no problem telling guys to get lost. If they didn't have enough money or weren't popular enough, they weren't worthy, and she definitely let them know it. So why is she going on this date when she clearly looks uncomfortable?
"God, Sienna," Margot huffs. "You're such a bore. All you ever do is study. It's Saturday night. Live a little."
"I'm sorry if some of us actually care about our grades, Margot. I have a lot of work to get done." She turns toward Hunter. "Sorry, but I only have time for dinner tonight." Maybe she really does have to study. Come to think of it, she did graduate at the top of our class.
Hunter cracks his neck, looking irritated by her comment. I'm sure he's pissed his grand plans for the night just got ruined. I bet he was hoping to smooth talk her over dinner, rub up all over her on the dance floor, so he could then convince her to come back to his place and fuck him. By the expression on his face, I don't think he knows how to handle the rejection. From what I've heard, girls usually beg for his attention, so this must be a shock to his system.
"I'm in the same boat as Sie," I tell them. "I thought we were just doing dinner. I have a project I need to get done."
"Wait, what?" Margot practically whines. "I thought we were going to spend the night together."
Yeah, that's never gonna happen. Even if I wasn't saving myself for the one I want to marry, I wouldn't fuck her. There's nothing about her that makes my dick even remotely excited. Unlike her brother, I don't just want a girl to get off with, I want something meaningful. Maybe Hunter should be on this date with Margot, and I should be with … I shake the thought off. There's no way I'd ever go on a date with Sienna.
"Don't be such a wet blanket, Matt." Hunter casts me a look like I'm not being a good wingman, but all I signed up for tonight was dinner. If he had something else in mind, he should've cleared it with me first. "How about we just see where the night takes us?" He smooths out his voice and wraps his arm around Sienna's waist.
I get a twinge in my gut, feeling uncomfortable for the girl. She looks like she wants to shrug out of his hold. But she doesn't. And that is unlike the girl I went to school with. Something about her has definitely changed. I'm just not sure what or why.
"After you," I say, reaching for the door so I don't have to hold Margot's hand and pretend like I'm interested. I never thought in a million years I'd be saying this, but I'm grateful Sienna's going to be on this date with me. In spite of my opinion toward her, she's going to be a buffer between me and my date.
