FUN AND INFORMATIVE

R egan pulled her vehicle into her garage and saw the lights of Zander’s SUV behind hers.

It was later than she’d thought the night would be and wasn’t sure why she was thinking that.

The night had been fun and informative at the same time.

She was still trying to figure out how she felt knowing that someone matched her up with Zander. And those people had a great track record.

Maybe it was a good thing since her track record wasn’t so great with men.

But then that was just another added pressure in her mind too.

She got out of her vehicle and hit the button to close the door once Zander was next to her.

For the past few weeks of their dating, they always came to her house. Not once had she seen his place. She didn’t even know where he lived.

She didn’t worry that he was keeping some secret from her. Or that he had another woman living with him.

Based on everything she found out tonight, there was no way that information could be private.

But she also knew him to be ethically and morally an upstanding citizen.

One that she was so attracted to that he made her do crazy things like get into the middle of his investigation without putting a ton of thought into it.

Everything she’d said was true. She wasn’t worried or scared. Could be the adrenaline was pushing her to get more involved.

Just like it was filling her veins and pulsing through her body when she was around him. Enough that the minute she took her jacket off, she turned and had Zander against the wall, her mouth on his, and was yanking his shirt out of the waist of his jeans.

She loved touching his skin. The smooth firmness of it.

It was as if he read her mind and was reaching for her sweater and yanking it up over her head.

She was toeing off her heels and he was doing the same to his sneakers.

The two of them were doing this little magical dance in the foyer of her home with clothes being scattered all over the floor.

She hadn’t intended for this to happen right here, but it appeared Zander had other ideas when he covered himself and lifted her up and put her against the wall.

“You okay with this?” he asked.

Regan didn’t think she had much of a choice in the matter and didn’t want to think, let alone talk about it.

“Do what you want with me,” she said.

His brown eyes got darker than ever before, his hand fisted into her hair like she’d done to him so much, and the next thing she knew he was thrusting into her.

“Look at me,” he said. “Do you know what I’m feeling?”

“Yes,” she said, then let out a moan. “The same as me.”

He was jerking up into her in deep hard thrusts.

She could barely catch her breath with each movement he made.

She wasn’t so sure she wanted to either.

This was an excitement during sex she’d never felt before.

Everything with Zander was different than she could have ever imagined.

Her arms went around his neck and she held on because there wasn’t anything else she could do.

“I want to watch you coming,” he said. “I want to see your eyes getting dark and then going wide.”

She was sure her eyes were exactly like that now. “I’m so close,” she said.

He let go of her hair and put both of his hands on her ass. He wasn’t pressing her against the wall as much but rather holding her and spreading her wider, allowing him to thrust up into her faster but just as hard.

“Oh God,” she said. “I feel as if I’m falling apart in the best way possible.”

“Hang on,” he said. “Keep looking at me.”

She held his stare, but it was harder than anything ever before in her life.

She just wanted to close her eyes and feel everything happening to her.

“Don’t stop,” she said.

“I won’t,” he said. “Keep squeezing me.”

She hadn’t realized she was doing that but kept doing what she was as she held on.

It only took a few more thrusts and everything that was coiled up tight inside of her let go.

Her eyes went wide, she actually felt it happening, and then they shut and her head dropped on his shoulder.

She could feel him pulsing inside of her and didn’t want it to stop, but she also knew she was probably getting heavy for him to keep holding her up.

Then she realized her back was against the wall and he was breathing heavily while she held on to him.

He let go of her ass and her legs dropped down. She almost fell to the floor, her legs were so wobbly.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yeah. I think I lost some circulation being in that position for so long. How about you? You were holding up a hundred and twenty pounds.”

“Felt like fifty,” he said, laughing and grabbing his jeans from the floor and walking toward the bathroom in the back.

“Nice compliment,” she shouted but picked up her clothing and ran upstairs naked.

She left her bedroom door open but closed the bathroom door while she used the toilet and turned the shower on.

No reason to get dressed when she wanted to clean up and walked to her closet to get comfy clothes.

“Can we shower together?” he asked, coming in. He had his jeans on but unbuttoned. His shirt in his hand.

“We can,” she said. “Or you can use the other bathroom.”

“Nah,” he said. “I think I can keep my hands off of you for ten minutes.”

“Maybe I like your hands on me,” she said. “I’m almost afraid my neighbor might know that too if they were in their garage just now.”

“A nice big steak fed to my ego,” he said, grinning.

“You know,” she said after she grabbed two towels. He was dropping his jeans in her bathroom now and pushing the door all the way open to get into the shower. “You could leave a change of clothing here if you wanted.”

“I’ll think about it,” he said.

No reason to say much more. She wasn’t one to push the issue.

They showered together and got out. He put his clothes back on while she got in leggings and a sweatshirt and sat on her bed. She knew he was going to leave soon. It was almost eight.

“I’d offer you something to eat or drink, but you got your cake and ate it too tonight.”

He snorted. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” she said.

“Something is. Open communication here. Talk to me. I’m not as good as you are at pulling information out of people.”

She liked that he nicely complimented her at the same time that he wanted her to talk.

How many times in her past had men she dated not wanted to talk because they felt they were being analyzed?

“I’m trying to put everything together in my mind that we talked about tonight. Not about the case, but the other part.”

“The Fierces?” he asked.

“Yes. I love Miles. He’s a great employee and a friend too.”

“But there is part of you that might feel betrayed?” he asked.

“I don’t want to feel that way. I shouldn’t. He always has my best interest at heart. He’d never do anything to hurt me. He even said I should tell you about the flowers.”

“And what do you think about that?”

She grinned that this was almost role reversal. She liked it too.

“I think that not only is he pushing us together but he might think we already are. I also feel a bit like a fool that I didn’t realize it.”

“You didn’t have the facts like I do.”

“How long have you suspected this?” she asked.

“We’ve only been dating a few weeks. I’d say maybe after that weekend we had together I realized it was you that they were working toward. I wanted to see if you knew anything before I brought it up.”

“Why?” she asked.

“It’s hard. I didn’t want you to be upset. I didn’t want you to think you were being played. But more importantly, I didn’t want you to think I only asked you to dinner because of that.”

“I don’t think those things,” she said. “But why would it matter if I did?”

He ran his hand along her cheek and pushed her hair off her shoulder and then sat down on the bed next to her. “I don’t want to come off like a wuss.”

“You couldn’t possibly,” she said.

“Guys don’t think that way,” he said. “We’ve admitted we’ve had this connection to each other, right?”

“Yes,” she said.

“I look at you and I think, I’m just done.”

Her jaw dropped. “What?”

He let out a laugh. Not really a funny sound though his eyes told a different story. Something that wasn’t humorous and maybe showed...love.

“There is no reason to look anymore. No reason to even think of another woman. I’m with the one that I want. The minute those thoughts popped into my head, I just knew. Done. Done looking. Done thinking.”

“Are you saying you love me?”

“Crazy, huh? It’s only been a few weeks, but I’m not sure what else this could be. What I felt about the flowers and then what you did tonight. Both of them pissed me off. Normally I wouldn’t get that worked up.”

“But you did and are because you care?” she asked.

“More than care. And if you don’t feel the same way, I understand. It’s another reason I had to talk to you about the Fierces. I didn’t want there to be this secret. No secrets other than work. As we both know, we are bound by that unless you’re helping me on a case.”

She’d actually talked to him about this when they worked out the Sophia case. She signed a confidentiality contract with any cases she helped with him since they were dating and she seemed to be privy to helping him during a few.

“We are,” she said. He was looking at her, waiting for her to say something. She knew what she had to say too. “I’ve been doing things with you I’ve never done before too. I can only come to one conclusion.”

“What’s that?” he asked.

“I think I’m done too.”

He burst out laughing and hugged her close. “What do you think, kind of an odd way to express ourselves, isn’t it?”

“It doesn’t surprise me,” she said. “I’ve always been a little bit odd, but you don’t see that part of me.”

“I don’t,” he said. “I just see the woman that captured my heart.”

“I see the man that did the same. I should tell you I love you too.”

“You didn’t have to if you didn’t want to.”

“But I did,” she said.

“Do you want me to stay tonight? I can leave early to go home and change.”

“Or I can go with you and stay at your place and bring a change of clothing?”

He snorted. “I need more notice than that.”

“Are you a slob?” she asked.

He held his finger and thumb up. “Maybe by your standards. Not horrible.”

“Then I’ll let you clean up and maybe I can see your place this weekend. Unless you need more time than that?”

“I might,” he said.

She leaned into him and kissed him. “Then let’s go get a snack and we can watch TV in bed.”

“Do you mind if I do a bit of work while you watch TV? I’ve got to get my laptop anyway. I just want to write up what happened tonight so it’s fresh in my mind.”

“As long as you keep out of it what happened here.”

“Very cute,” he said.

Regan watched him walk out of her room, her eyes on his ass. The minute she heard the door shut she let out a little squeal and kicked her feet in the air.

She was in love!

Talk about never acting like herself!
