" P izza?" Josie looked at the pizza parlor with a raised eyebrow. "That's Italian."
"Yeah, but the pizza's they make are out of this world."
Josie ducked under my arm as I held the door open. The two of us were highly over dressed for this place, and we stuck out like a pair of sore thumbs. It was a hole-in-the-wall type of pizza place that'd been around for years.
The bartender looked up and raised his hand in greeting. I gave a nod back as I led Josie towards a booth along the far side of the wall. The place wasn't that busy for a Thursday night, and the few people there were too busy doing their own thing to pay us any attention.
From the outside, it was deceptively small, but as soon as you walked inside, you were met with an immense space. A massive bar lined one entire side, with booths along the opposite wall. The center of the room was peppered with a mismatched array of tables and chairs that added to the eccentric vibe of the place. The owner prided himself on his quirky, thrifted decor, and the place had become almost as well known for that as it had its pizzas.
"How have I never heard of this place?" Josie asked, looking around as we slid into the booth.
"It's more of a local hotspot. Landon, Mateo and I have come here for years." In fact, it was our ritual to eat there at least once a month.
"So they have the best pizza, huh?"
"Hands down. What's your go to pizza?" I asked, not even bothering to look at the menu that sat on the table.
"I'm a simple gal. Pepperoni and pineapple."
"Wow." I shook my head. "I'm disappointed in you."
"Excuse me? Pineapple belongs on pizza."
"Does not."
"You're just uncultured."
"The best is pepperoni, peppers and onions."
"Nope."
"Let's put it to the test then. One of each and then we decide who has the best taste," I challenged.
Josie rested arms on the table and smirked. "Game on."
"Just put it in."
"No."
"Come on, open wide," Josie said, holding out a slice of pepperoni and pineapple pizza towards me. When she gave me those puppy-dog eyes, I couldn't say no. So reluctantly, I leaned forward and took a bite of the pizza. Josie watched with an excited grin as she waited for my reaction.
It wasn't bad, better than I thought it would be. Still not my favorite pizza, but it wasn't the worst.
"So?"
"It's good."
"Told ya," Josie grinned in triumph. She took a big bite of the same slice and gave a content moan. I just smiled and shook my head, eating my own pizza.
Seeing her smile and joke made me glad we left the last restaurant. This felt a lot more like us. There was a good chance I'd regret eating the pizza during tomorrow's practice, but it was worth it to watch Josie enjoy herself.
As we sat there talking, I figured now was the best time to ask her. My palms grew sweaty as I shifted in my seat.
God, I can't remember the last time I was so nervous. Not even playing in the Cup Championship made me this nervous.
When there was a slight pause in conversation, I straightened, clearing my throat.
"There's something I wanted to ask you."
Just say it.
"Oh?" she asked, lowering her pizza to her plate to give me her undivided attention.
"I…" Mentally, I slapped myself.
Since when do I get flustered by a girl? If Trevor and Bryton were here right now, they'd be laughing their asses off. Hell, even my own brothers would too.
"I know it's only been a few weeks since we got stuck in that elevator together. We haven't known each other long—not really," I was rambling, but I couldn't stop. "But it feels like I've known you a lot longer than that, which is crazy because I've never felt that way before." I took a deep breath. "What I'm trying to say is…will you be my girlfriend?"
Josie sat perfectly still; her eyes wide.
"You don't have to say yes," I quickly added.
Maybe I read this completely wrong, and she didn't want something more.
"We can stay how we are. I don't want to pressure you to say yes. That is, not unless you want to."
Wyatt, get a damn grip!
"Are you sure you want me?" Josie asked so quietly. I almost didn't hear her.
"Of course I want you." I reached across the table and took her hand. "I've wanted you from the moment I met you in that elevator."
"I just don't want you to change your mind later on."
I wanted nothing more than to find her ex and hurt him for what he'd done to Josie. The bastard tore her down so badly that she didn't realize her own worth. If anyone was unworthy in this relationship, it was me .
"Josie," I said softly, squeezing her hand as she slowly looked up at me. "I will never change my mind about you, and I will spend every day showing you that. If you'd let me." And I would. I would spend every waking second showing Josie just how much she meant to me.
She didn't say anything for a moment, and I felt my hope settle like a weight in the pit of my stomach. But then, she nodded.
"Is that a yes?" I asked, cautiously.
"Yes."
My smile was so wide that I felt like my face was about to split in half. I didn't care that I must have looked like a maniac as I slipped out of my side of the booth and slid in beside her. Grabbing her face, I kissed her like she was the last drop of water on earth.
After a few moments, we pulled back, breathing heavy, our foreheads pressed together.
"Want to get out of here?" I asked.
Josie nodded; her hands fisted in my shirt.
Thankfully we'd eaten most of our pizza, and I threw some money on the table as I pulled Josie from the booth. With her fingers weaved through mine, we all but ran from the restaurant to the car.
The ride back to the apartment seemed to take ages. It didn't help that there was traffic, but the need to take Josie was almost overwhelming. So much so, that my hand slipped between the slit in her dress and slid between her thighs, my fingertips grazing her underwear.
Keeping my eyes on the road, I traced her clit with my fingers, the fabric growing wet under my touch. Josie shifted in the seat, spreading her legs wider, the dress falling away, exposing her legs.
I purposely kept my touch light, teasing her as I drove. Her soft little pants filled the car, making me grow hard. As I applied a little more pressure, Josie moaned, her hips angling to increase the pressure.
As we turned into the parking lot, I withdrew my hand, a smile tugging at the corners of my mouth as she let out a frustrated groan. Josie all but jumped out of the car as soon as I turned it off, grabbing my hand and tugging me after her.
The doorman greeted us but all I could manage was a nod as the two of us hurried for the elevators. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long and no one else got in with us.
As soon as the doors closed, I pushed Josie against the back wall, my hands gripping the railing by her waist, caging her between the wall and my hips.
"You've taunted me in this damn dress all night." I lowered my head, trailing my nose down the side of her jaw to her neck. "I've wanted nothing more than to bend you over and see what's under it."
I pressed my lips to the side of her neck, a spot I'd learned was one of her sensitive spots. Josie's breath hitched in her chest as I gently nipped at her skin before moving my mouth downwards to her collarbones. Her hands gripped the back of my shirt, bunching the fabric in her fists.
"Maybe we should stop this elevator and spend the entire night here again," I murmured.
"Maybe we should," she breathed, pushing herself against me.
I kissed down her bare shoulder, until the bing of the elevator alerted us that we reached her floor.
With my patience rapidly dwindling, I yanked Josie out of the elevator to her apartment. It took her a second to unlock the door, the fact I stood behind her, nibbling her neck didn't help.
We finally stumbled into her apartment, a mess of limbs. Josie grabbed the front of my shirt and pushed my back against the door. The two of us pawed at each other's clothes. I unzipped her dress and threw it in one direction, my shirt and pants following seconds later.
My blood felt like it was on fire as Josie stood before me clad in only a pair of red panties.
God she's perfect.
She was mine now, and I needed to make it real by being inside of her.
I grabbed her waist and walked her backwards towards her couch. In one motion I flipped her around until she was bent over the back of it, her perfect ass sticking up in the air. She still had her heels on which made her ass and legs look even better.
"Fuck," I groaned at the sight. Bringing my hand up, I slapped one of her cheeks. Josie gasped but arched her back even more. I was worried I was too rough with her, but everything I gave Josie took.
With each slap on her ass, she moaned, the wet spot on her underwear let me know she was enjoying this as much as I was. Once her ass was a cute shade of pink, I grabbed her thong and pulled it down, letting it fall to her heels.
With my foot I nudged her feet further apart. Again, I groaned at the sight before me.
All mine.
"Wyatt," Josie moaned as my fingers grazed her pussy.
"Tell me what you want, Josie."
"I need you."
"I'm happy you need me, but that's not what I asked." I tsked . Grabbing her ponytail, I yanked her head back. "I asked. What. Do. You. Want?"
I knew dirty talk was new for her. Her cheeks turn pink whenever she tried to say something dirty in return. I loved seeing her slowly come out of her shell and embrace a side to her she'd kept hidden. A side I fully planned on bringing out further.
Wanting to help her out, I slide two fingers inside of her, her pussy instantly clenching around them. Slowly I moved them in and out as she let out little noises.
"I want you to fuck me," Josie finally said, her voice breathless and filled with need. "Please."
"God, I love when you beg." I slipped my fingers out of her so I could take off my boxers, kicking them to the side. Grabbing her hair once more, I wrapped it around my fist while my other hand lined my cock up to her pussy.
I rubbed her wetness all over the tip, tapping her clit with it. The way she moaned my name was a sound I wanted tattooed in my skin.
Tired of teasing, I slid my entire length in her in one go, our moans of pleasure filling her apartment. As I buried myself deep in Josie, I felt my entire world tilt on its axis.
Pretty sure I'm way past the point of falling for Josie.
