Epilogue

"Didn't we just have a party here?"

Iris and Briony both shoot me an identical glare as other pack members move in the background, each one of them tasked with setting up a different aspect of the décor. "That was the Blue Moon Bash, Ev," Briony says like I'm stupid. "This is the Harvest Moon Gala."

I frown. "That seems very similar."

"It isn't. It's a whole other thing, a party to celebrate the last full moon of the summer… You know this. Honestly, did you not live in the same pack that I did my whole life?"

I swoop in and press a kiss against Briony's lips. "I sure did. But I was an idiot who didn't notice shit unless it was right in front of me."

"Even then, you miss it about half the time," she grumbles.

I grin. "But now you're here to be in front of me all the time. So I can't miss it anymore," I beam.

Briony rolls her eyes, but through the bond, I feel her affection.

Damn. I love the mating bond.

Not having to guess how Briony feels is just downright amazing. From the awesome sex to the fact that I can pretty much fix everything when I fuck it up because I know exactly what she needs, it's perfect.

She's perfect.

I'm not even mad at my brother anymore for having his own fated mate. Mine is right here.

And I love her.

An elderly woman trots up to her. "Hello Miss Briony," the woman smiles.

Briony laughs. "Mrs. Bortles! How are you?"

"I'm fine. I miss having you over for tea."

Briony hasn't been doing her normal rounds since she took up the mantle as the pack's PR liaison. She smiles at the older woman. "Well, how about I come over for tea, then? Can you make the kind Davey liked?"

Mrs. Bortles frowns. "Who's Davey?"

Briony is about to answer when we hear yelling. Both of us move, following the sound.

Zander and Mia are arguing in front of the drink table. "You don't get to tell me what to do," Mia spits at him.

"I'm not telling you what to do. I'm just saying, there's probably a more effective way to do it," Zander growls.

Mia looks like she's about to erupt. I grab Zander, steering him toward the stage. "Go lift some heavy shit for a minute, man," I say softly.

He growls, but complies.

When I come back to the girls, Briony is patting Mia's shoulder. "You know, I think you would probably do well to try to get along with him."

Mia, who is definitely now Briony's friend, glares at her. "What the hell?"

Briony throws her hands up. "I'm just saying. He's really popular in the community, and he's doing a good job protecting the other foxes. It's probably worth it to give him a little grace, don't you think?"

Mia snarls. "I'll decide that. I think the balloons are falling. I'm going to fix them," she says abruptly.

Briony and I watch her go.

I give her a look. "I think Zander is totally into her. But he would never admit it unless she says something about it first."

"Yeah. That's my thought too."

"Should I work on him? Try to get him to make the first move?"

Briony gives me a look. "Do you think those two are going to take any advice from anyone?"

"No," I say. "That's fair."

"Besides," Briony grins. "I think I'm a little more invested in my own love story at the moment."

"Oh? Why's that?"

She reaches up and plants a kiss on my cheek. "Because I just found my fated mate. And I want to spend much more time with him than playing matchmaker."

I laugh. "You and me both."

"In fact, I could spend a little time with him. Alone. Right now," she grins.

I don't need any further encouragement. Briony squeals as I toss her over my shoulder, leaving Thorne's house, and all the party planning, behind.

It's time to spend a little time with my fated mate.

Party be damned.
