THIS MOMENT ALONE

T he next morning, Andi was up bright and early and watching the sunrise by herself.

She wasn't sure how she managed to get up before Jarrett or that he hadn't heard her moving around.

"Why didn't you wake me?" he asked, coming up behind her and putting his arms around her waist.

She was sitting in the hallway overlooking the living area below, her bare legs hanging between the railings, and watching the sun peeking up over the mountains through the wall of windows. If her butt was cold sitting on the floor only wearing her panties and one of Jarrett's T-shirts, it wastotallyworth it for this moment alone.

"I didn't plan on doing this," she said. "I got up to go to the bathroomandnoticed the time and popped my head out to see if I could see the sunrise. It was beautiful watching it set last night in the room."

They'd gone up to their room to change and she realized there was a view from the balcony off of their room. Just good timing to be there while it was setting and they stayed to watch it before she went to cook dinner and Jarrett lit the fire.

"It's beautiful now," he said. "But I think there is one more thing that is even more beautiful." He leaned in and kissed her neck. She turned and saw he was only in his boxer briefs.

"Yum," she said, her hand moving up his thigh, the hair on his leg tickling her fingers. "You're trying to tempt me back into bed, aren't you?"

"That hadn't been my plan, but if you're willing."

She stood up with his help and shook her legs off. Guess she'd been sitting there longer than she realized.

"Why don't we check out the shower together," she said. "Then we can have breakfast and go feed the farm animals."

He laughed at her. "We can do that."

They moved to the big primary bath, and he turned the shower on while she pulled the shirt over her head and dropped it to the floor. Her panties slid down next while he pushed his underwear off too.

He was ready for her as always.

The water was hot, the steam already billowing out between the glass walls.

"This is a nice big shower. I've never been in one like this before."

There were two showerheads, one on each wall, but Jarrett only turned one on. Fornowit was better that way so they weren't drowning each other.

"The bench is a nice touch on the side here," he said. "Almost as if it was made for two people to do what we are going to."

She laughed and stepped under the water quickly to warm up after he'd done the same. She was tapping her finger on her chin. "Why don't you sit down?"

"I'm game for anything," he said. But when he sat, he didn't do what she had in mind.

Rather than her climb into his lap, he yanked her forward by her hips, her lower lips lined up pretty well with his mouth.

"Oh boy," she said, then let out a moan when his finger slid between her folds, found her slick heat, and moved forward and back.

"One might think you were thinking of me sitting out there," he said.

"I find that I think of you all the time," she said. "Not sure if that is a good or bad thing."

"Never bad," he said. "Since I'm doing the same."

She widened her stance some, his thumb and finger separating her skin, his mouth landing on her swollen bud and attacking it as if it were the best breakfast spread she could provide.

He was licking and tapping and even pulling it in with his teeth. The ragged edges sent a jolt of pain mixed in with the pleasure.

She'd never felt that before and wasn't sure how she was missing it so much in her life.

Her hands went to the wall behind him to steady herself as she felt her legs starting to shake some.

He kept up what he was doing, then slipped a finger inside of her to pump in and out, and within two thrusts she was shouting out his name, her voice echoing around the tiles in the room.

As the last throb was released from her body, he reached for her hipsandpulled her down on top of himandjust held her.

Her legs shifted on her own around his hips and he inched forward until her feet were locked together behind his back.

His hand was rubbing up and down her back, soothing her as much as it was working her up again.

She shifted some, reached downandfound him, then guided him inside of her.

Her head was still on his shoulder, but her body was moving on its own almost grinding against him. There was part of her that felt bad he seemed to be doing most of the work, but she was so depleted of energy now between what she was feeling, what she'd just experienced, the steam in the room, and the heat of Jarrett's body.

In the position they were in, Jarrett could do nothing more than move up and down in short fast movements, but it was enough to work her up more.

His hand slid down between their bodies, found her bud again that already felt worked up, then pressed down on it.

The pressure had her grinding against him harder and faster, him trying to match her speed.

"That's it," he said. "Keep doing it. Get yourself there again."

"I'm never able to do it twice this fast as I do with you," she said.

She wasn't sure where those words came from, but everything was like anout of bodyexperience when she was with him.

"And you'll only be able to do it with me," he whispered in her ear.

The soft deep sound of his voice. The protective fierceness of it had her tumbling again. This time not from being a klutz but from what the man she loved pulled out of her.

She was moaning, groaningandgrinding with more control than finesse as she felt Jarrett jerking up, then coming himself.

He held her tight for a minute or more to get her breathing back to normal.

"I'm so glad I woke up to watch the sunset this morning," she said. "What a way to start the day."

He laughed and stood up, her legs unlocking from behind him, then sliding down.

"I could wake up this way every day," he said.

"Me too," she said. "I feel refreshed." She turned the showerhead on closer to her and jumped when the cool water came out first.

"Switch," he said. "I don't mind it cooler."

"Aren't you such a gentleman," she said, laughing, and moved to the other one that had been running, dipping her head under the spray to get ready for their day.

"I've never fed a goat before," Andi said an hour later. "But a baby goat is the cutest thing ever."

"Tip the bottle back a bit more," Bob said. "There you go. Freddy is greedy."

"His name is Freddy?" she asked, letting out a laugh. She turned her head to see Jarrett feeding another one. He didn't seem as excited over it as she was, but he was smirking at her. "What's that one's name?"

"Beatrice," Bob said.

She giggled. "Do you name them all?"

"We do," Bob said. "It's like having kids."

There were six goats in the barn but only these two babies. There were pigs and llamas and a few cows. A chicken coop they passed when they came in too.

"Are they just your pets?" she asked.

"We milk the goats," Bob said. "We make goat's milk soap here and use the milk. It's a long process but worth it. We like to live off the land and our animals and find that vacationers enjoy helping out."

She laughed. "I'm going to fall right into this. Can you show me how to milk a goat?"

"Sherise is the mom of these two. We can milk her as she's about ready for it," Bob said.

Andi moved over and watched him start and then she did the rest, laughing the whole time. "Do you milk them all?"

"I've got three mamas producing milk. Butch, he's the dad."

She giggled over the name.

When they were done milking the goats, she even asked Jarrett to try andget a picture. Then they went out to see the chickens. No way she was collecting eggs when she saw they weren't that friendly with strangers.

"How long have you had this land?" she asked. "It's beautiful up here."

"It's been in my family for generations," Bob said. "We've always had animals and my wife and kids enjoyed caring for them while I was in town working."

"What did you do?" Jarrett asked.

"I'm an engineer. We didn't always live up herefull time. Not until the kids were out of school and in college. My parents were still on the land then and we came up and helped on the weekends. Now, it's just nice to escape the hustle and bustle of things. I find nature to be better neighbors than people."

"Yet you rent out the house next door to people?"

"We built that house to stay in when the kids were little. Once we moved here, we decided to rent it out and give city folk the experience."

Andi giggled over that statement. "I'm not sure we are city folk."

"You're from Boston though, right?" Bob asked.

She looked at Jarrett. "In the area," he said.

She knew better than to say where they lived. She never volunteered any information like that. Even when her father was alive.

"Having the renters and the house gives us something to do in our retirement. Brings in some income on top of it. Someday, my kids will have these homes too."

"Do they live around here?" she asked.

"My son works in Boston but lives outside of it. He's married with two young kids and they come up to visit and stay in the house too, but not much in the winter. My daughter lives in New York right now. Just outside the city with her family and three kids. They don't visit as often as their kids are in all sorts of activities."

"It's the way of the world now," she said.

"It is," Bob said.

They spent another thirty minutes with the animals and Bob and then walked back to their rented cabin.

"I would love something like this," she said. "To just escape away. I might even be able to live like this full time, but the drive into town to work would be too much."

"It would," he said. "But a nice weekend place. I understand why so many have weekend homes on the island. Maybe they don't think the ferry trip over is much more than what we drove to get here."

"I could afford a weekend home," she said, "but why do I need one when I'm on the island? And there is no way I would empty my account to get a waterfront home. But maybe one in the mountains like this off the island would be so nice."

"You work on Saturdays," he said.

"I do. But I can make myownschedule. I guess it's just nice to dream," she said. "I look at my father and how short his life was. Then I tell myself at times I should enjoy what I can when I can."

"It's a good attitude to have," he said, moving close to her and pulling her into his arms. "Just like I'm going to enjoy this time with you."

"Why do you sound so sad?" she asked.

"I didn't know I did," he said.

She stepped back. "Something is on your mind."

"Am I able to give you enough?" he asked. "Of my time more than anything?"

"Yes," she said. "Don't doubt anything more. I know what your job entails. I'm not my mother. I never will be. I work just as much as you."

"As you said though, you can make yourownschedule," he said. "I can't."

"I knew what I was getting myself into with you," she said. "And I gladly did it. No one has a perfect relationship and no one ever will. You make it work for you. I believe that one hundred percent."

"Me too," he said, kissing her.

"And if two people feel the same way, that is about as perfect as it will get."
