32. Drew: Coming for the Wedding

Chapter thirty-two

Drew – Coming for the Wedding

I can smell the delicious aroma of the Hawaiian barbecue Chef Thomas has cooked up before Drew and I walk into the inn. Inside the restaurant are Drew's siblings, Mia, Grandpa, and all the employees at the inn who can make it, ready to celebrate the wedding tomorrow.

"There they are!" Mia smiles, pointing at us as we make our way in.

Everyone turns to greet us, offering hugs for me and handshakes for Drew as we make our way around the room. We wrap up with congratulations from Drew's siblings, but there's another person I don't recognize.

"Mona!" Drew smiles as he hugs the woman tightly. She smiles and squeezes him back. "I thought your flight got delayed. I didn't think you'd make it tonight."

"Thankfully, I know how to pull some strings and I found another flight in," she says. "Aren't you going to introduce me?" she asks, pointing to me.

"Right," Drew says. "Mona, this is my fiancée, Meg. Meg, this is my older sister, Mona."

"It's nice to meet you," I say, as she skips the handshake and goes straight for the hug.

"You too," she smiles, and suddenly I see the resemblance between her and Drew.

"Did you bring the baby?" Drew asks.

"No, not until he can finish all of his vaccines," she says. "But next trip, for sure."

"He's absolutely adorable," I mention. She's been sending all the pictures like any proud mom would. Bentley is the cutest and chubbiest baby boy I think I've ever seen. And he already has the Bellamy dimple when he smiles.

"Thank you," she smiles. "But of course, even though I did all the work, he looks more like his father."

"I hear that's usually the case with the first one." I nod.

"It's ridiculous, though!" Lillian chuckles. "But at least he has your smile."

"True, and he's a very good baby already," Mona adds.

"My mom used to say that's how God tricks you into having more." I grin as Mia comes to join us. "She was the easiest baby ever and then I was born."

Mia laughs. "Mom and Dad said Meg was hell on wheels for the first two years of her life."

"Oh really?" Drew asks. "Tell me more."

"Unless you were holding her and giving her your undivided attention, she was either asleep or screaming her head off," Mia says. "We literally have pictures of her smiling in one frame and crying hysterically in the next."

"Wait, why didn't we see those when my bath-time pictures were being passed around?" Drew asks, prompting giggles from everyone.

"Oh, gosh, they must have gone missing or something." I shrug, not bothering to hide my lies.

"We'll find them eventually," Drew says to Mia, and they clink their drink glasses together.

"Hey, you're marrying me. You're automatically on my side, remember?" I say, poking him in the arm.

"Tit for tat," he replies. "You saw my baby photos, now you show me yours."

"Yeah, you're just lucky you're cute," I tease him.

"Oh, I'm adorable." He smiles at me teasingly.
