Epilogue

Claire

6 Months Later

Carrying my school books, I come inside the house and set everything on the entryway table. "Babe, I'm home." I inhale, my mouth waters. I smell fresh lasagna. Zach makes the best lasagna, and he knows it's my favorite thing to eat.

I make my way down the hallway of our home. Two months ago, Zach convinced me to move in with him. From our first night together we've never been apart, we stayed either at his penthouse or my little apartment, so it made little sense to have both places.

He also convinced me to go to school since it's something I've always wanted to do, but never could afford. He helped me with loans, and offered to support us, because I wouldn't outright let him pay for school. I still have my job but I work part-time now. Just because my boyfriend is a billionaire doesn't mean I'm comfortable living off him.

He surprised me with this house. I thought I was moving into his penthouse, but nope. He wants us to live in a house. A huge eight thousand square foot home, that he reminds me he went small compared to some mansions he looked at.

The struggle at getting used to this kind of living is real. I don't complain, but it gets uncomfortable.

The dining room is decked out with candles, flowers everywhere, and my favorite saxophone music is playing in the background. Most importantly, the man of my dreams is on his knee with a ring box opened, and he gazes at me with all the love in the world.

"Welcome home, sweetheart. I want you to know you've brought life into my world. I was merely existing. Working way too much. But because of you, I'm a new and better person. I want to keep being this way while growing with you by my side. I love you so much. I can't and don't want to imagine my life without you in it. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife? Will you marry me?"

Tears pour along my cheeks, and I've lost feeling in my legs, but the only thing I can think is the word yes, on repeat. I collapse into his arms and, as always, he never lets me fall. We kiss passionately as we consume each other.

"Is this a yes?"

I chuckle. "Yes. It's a big fat yes." Then I go back to kissing him. I take forever to look at the ring, a classic and tasteful ring he got me. He knows me so well and makes sure it's not overdone. It's perfect, just like him. Like us.

The rest of our lives is going to be wonderful. I'm thrilled we're starting a new journey together.

Thank you so much for reading Fake Situationship.
