Chapter Eighteen

EVO

Holding her this close is a torture I will gladly suffer for as long as possible. I have to keep my hips tilted slightly away from her so that she doesn’t feel my hardening shaft against her small frame. She has gotten quiet and I know all the things we have talked about are flowing through her mind. I try to put myself in her spot, but I can’t rationalize the loss she has experienced.

Never have I felt so wonderful or torn at the same time. I want to tell her how special she is to me, and what the real meaning of a Memory Fasting means, but she is scared. Every time I touch her, I can feel the instant tenseness of the unfamiliarity of my hands on her. I’m not sure how to overcome this obstacle. In all my wildest dreams, I never imagined a more perfect mate. Even though the Memory Fasting showed me highlights of her life, I still want to know so much more.

My hands curl around her luscious little body. Even with all the padding I have put on her, I can still feel the heat of her skin. What I wouldn’t do to slowly peel all this off her and explore her at will. To taste her and hear her moan out my name as I learn the feel of her under my hands.

Shaking my head, I make myself stop that thought process before I embarrass myself. Even if she was willing to partake in my fantasies, she is too weak right now. Her frame is malnutritioned, and still tender to the touch. She isn’t in any shape to participate in the activities I have floating through my mind. “ Qwin , am I hurting you by holding you this close?”

She wiggles her cold nose against the opening in the shirt I have on. “ No , as crazy as this seems, I am extremely comfortable.”

“ You got quiet, and I was worried I had overstepped.”

“ I am a very vocal person, EvO . If you were doing something I didn’t like, I would tell you. My mind was actually quiet for just a moment. There is just so much to process. I’m unsure of where to begin. I mean what am I even gonna do here?”

“ Going forward, I believe your understanding of the pods and the events that unfolded will be incredibly beneficial. It also wouldn’t shock me if Ember tries to recruit you into helping with the others that are going to be awakened soon.”

“ What then? Once everyone is out of the pods, what then?”

“ Qwin , I truly don’t know that answer myself. As for the rest of your kind, that is something I need my Father’s council on.”

“ You have mentioned him several times, I take it you two are close?”

“ I am blessed to have my Father’s unconditional love, and counsel. I care deeply for him, as I do all my brothers. However , Father is slightly larger than life. Being a Commander , he has this presence about him that easily intimidates most. If you are anywhere around him, you can feel the power he represents. He is dedicated to his family and the safety of all he is responsible for. Many would have crumbled under such weight, but he has stood strong since long before I came along. Qwin , you have spoken often of your Mother , but not your own Father ?”

“ My Dad passed away when I was little. He was several years older than my mother and, being a normal guy. He didn’t let on that he was sick until it was too late. Mom never really got over it. She did her best to hold it together because of me, but I could hear her crying many nights, even years after he was gone.”

“ I am sorry, you have experienced so much loss in your short life span.”

“ I missed him, but I tried not to be a burden to Mom . She had enough on her shoulders trying to support both of us once he was gone. I can remember walking into their closet helping with the laundry years later and still smelling his cologne. She never did take his clothes down. I was fortunate to have had such a loving father for as long as I did, many were not so lucky.”
