21. Skylar

I groan at the light filtering through the curtains, I hate mornings. My head’s killing me, my mouth tastes horrible, and an arm is wrapped so tightly around me that I can”t move.

Wait…

An arm?

My eyes snap open and I instantly wince in pain at the brightness filling the room. When I”m finally able to see again, my gaze sweeps over Tucker’s sleeping form. He’s gorgeous, absolutely perfect. He looks so peaceful and innocent when he’s sleeping, none of the stress I’ve seen is visible.

I try to wiggle out from beneath his arm, but he doesn’t let go, he drags me even closer.

“Tuck, I gotta pee.”

“I don’t want you to go.”

“I’ll be right back.”

“Promise?”

A slow smile spreads over my lips, I forgot how sweet Tucker is. He was the world’s best boyfriend until I left.

“Yeah, I’ll be right back.” I kiss his cheek and hop out of bed the second he lets me go.

On my way out of the bathroom I notice a bottle of mouthwash, not only do I have morning breath but I have alcohol breath. I grab a little cup and swish with mouthwash, repeating the process several times.

When I”m done, I saunter back to Tucker’s bed. He’s lying on his side, propped up on one arm, looking sexy as hell.

“Hey, darling.” A delicious smirk tugs on the corner of his lips. The sheets pool around his waist, showing off every inch of his chest and abs. I want to let my fingers explore, feel his muscles contract under my touch.

“Hey…” I shift uncomfortably on my feet.

I have no clue if I did or said anything embarrassing last night. I don’t know why I”m in one of his shirts and not my own clothes. I don’t even remember how I got here.

“Stop thinking and get over here. We have some things to talk about.” He slides up until his back is resting against the headboard and pats the spot next to him.

“I don’t remember anything…” I mumble under my breath. I climb onto the bed, sitting next to him, but I pull my legs up to my chest, looping my arms around them. “Did I embarrass myself?”

“Well, let’s talk first… then we can discuss how much you embarrassed yourself.”

“Tuckerrrr…” I groan, burying my face in my knees.

“Do you remember the bar?”

“Barely… I just remember everyone talking about how I used to be and I got annoyed. I”m not that person anymore and I”m tired of being compared to a teenage version of myself.”

“I can understand that. It took a long time for this town to stop looking at Colt and I as troubled teens. Do you remember driving here with Colt?”

“No.” I wince. “What happened?”

“Well, you begged him to bring you here because you wanted to see me.” He smirks and I let out another groan making him laugh. “Sky… He asked you why you left.”

“No. No, no, no. Please tell me I didn’t tell him. Tuck!”

“You didn’t… but you said you lost your whole future… He started questioning me. I think it’s time for him to know.”

“I told Leslie yesterday,” I whisper softly.

“Really?” His brows raise in surprise.

“Yup. Right after I broke up with Garrett for cheating on me. I kinda just broke down, crying mess, and everything. Hence the drinking last night.”

“Ahh, now the picture’s getting clearer. Do you remember puking on my porch?”

“Are you freaking kidding me? Please tell me you’re joking.”

“Nope, all over the place. Had to carry you in here because you got tired drunk. Thought you were gonna fall off the counter in the bathroom when I went to get you a shirt.”

“Oh my gosh, I haven’t gotten tired drunk in forever. Why am I wearing your clothes? Where are mine?”

“Wash, puke happens.” He shrugs a shoulder. “By the way… I feel like you should know…”

“What did I do?”

“Well… you kinda stripped down in front of me before I could stop you. You were surprisingly quick for being drunk.”

“Please tell me my embarrassment stops there.”

“Not exactly.” He winces. “But back to an important topic… you broke up with Garrett?”

“Yeah, it was time.”

“Then I have some questions.”
