Diablo Epilogue-Christmas Day-Five Weeks Later

Watching Jaycee playing in the common room with Thane and the new toys Santa had brought them for Christmas made me smile. She'd settled into her new home with us effortlessly. The entire club, as well as Brooklyn, Torch, and even Thane, were learning sign language so we could communicate with her. She was learning to read lips, which helped.

She was a happy little girl who smiled constantly. She adored her room and loved picking out all the furniture and colors with her new mommy. Every time she signed Mommy to Jauhnna, my woman's eyes would mist up, and she'd smile. Brooklyn adored her baby sister and teased me about making her wait so long to give her one. I joked back, telling her I had to wait for my woman to grow up.

The age difference between us didn't truly bother me, although I knew some people might have an issue with Jauhnna being so close in age to Brooklyn. Those individuals could go fuck themselves. I was happy and content.

Next month, the judge was to sign off on Jaycee's adoption. We could hardly wait. In order to be ready for it, the week after I asked Jauhnna to marry me, we went to the courthouse and got hitched. We were planning to have a celebration after Jaycee became ours to celebrate our wedding and her adoption together. Invitations had already been sent out to our friends in the various clubs and the Patriots. It was going to be a huge affair. I offered to do a large fancy wedding after the courthouse one, but my wife said it wasn't necessary. We had photos of us dressed up for it, and that, along with the marriage certificate, was all she wanted.

Everyone was in the best of moods after a fantastic Christmas dinner cooked by the ladies. I offered to have it catered since they did Thanksgiving, too, but they got mad and told me no way. They'd made a massive feast. We'd be eating leftovers for a couple of days. I loved holiday leftovers.

I was relaxed back in my chair, talking to Torch, Butcher, and Scorpion, when Jauhnna came over to me. She was giving me a tender look. I returned it as I held out my hand to her. She let me draw her down onto my lap. As she settled, she surprised me by handing me an envelope. I took it.

"What's this, baby?"

"One final Christmas present."

"Serenity, I don't need anything else. You, Jaycee, and Brooklyn spoiled me this year. Enough." I tried to hand it back. I had no idea what it was but I didn't need it.

She shook her head. "No, you need to open it. If you don't want it after you do, then we'll talk."

The others gathered around to see what it was, the nosy shits. I opened it, withdrawing the single paper inside. Unfolding it, I read it. I stopped breathing. I gulped and re-read it. Reading the same thing as the first time, I glanced up at her. I knew disbelief was written all over my face.

"Is this for real?" I asked hoarsely.

"What is it, Pres?" Turbo asked. Others were asking the same question.

"It's very real. Do you want to return it?" she asked huskily.

"Fuck no!" I shouted as I came to my feet with her in my arms. I swung her around as I latched onto her mouth. I consumed her. As I did, the others were all shouting, asking what it was. I took my time answering. When I let go of her mouth, I faced them with the biggest grin on my face.

"Well, what is it?" Brooklyn asked impatiently.

"It seems my beautiful wife had to one-up me and make me even happier. She got me a baby for Christmas." Silence greeted that announcement. Pandemonium broke out seconds after my announcement.

"A baby?" Brooklyn shrieked.

"How?"

"What do you mean?"

"You're adopting another one?"

Those questions came from my brothers. I waited for them to settle down. Once they did, I asked her, "How is this possible? You can't get pregnant."

"Well, it seems Galway was a liar in a lot of ways. He took me to the doctor and had us both undergo testing. I was told by the doctor I was barren, as you know. It seems it was a lie. He must've paid the doctor to tell me that instead of the truth, which was he was the one who was sterile. Seems Micro is very thorough in his research. I asked him to check it out for me because I couldn't believe the results either. He was able to access my actual record and results. And yes, it's been confirmed by an actual doctor. We're going to be parents in mid-July. It seems we've been playing with fire all this time. I hope you're ready to expand our family. I know it's sooner than we talked."

We'd talked about adopting another child in a few years after Jaycee was in school and fully settled.

"Serenity, I'm more than ready."

It was deafening as everyone shouted their amazement. I let them hug her and shake my hand, but as soon as they were through, I was done.

"Thank you, but I need to have some alone time with my old lady. We have some private celebrating to do. Brookie, watch your sister."

"Eww, Dad," she said as the others laughed. Jauhnna giggled as I lifted her higher in my arms and headed for the door. It was time to take her home and make love to her. Who knew a stop along the road to investigate a car would lead me to a second chance at absolute happiness and a second family? Fate took away with one hand and gave with the other.

The End Until Book 2: Title TBD

Note: For those who read my O'Sheeran Mafia series, you may be confused by me referring to Patrick as the head of that family and not his oldest son, Darragh. The reason is, Diablo's book occurs almost eight years prior to Darragh's Dilemma, the first O'Sheeran book.
