EIGHTEEN

The second Drew stormed out; I shoved the girl away from me. "Go the fuck away."
She glared at me with a frown before storming across the party, tugging down her skirt.
I was livid as hell. The night had been nothing but a clusterfuck. First, I walked in to see Drew snuggled between Bennett and Harford. Which made me grab some waif-thin Barrington bimbo just to get a rise out of Drew. It was the least I could do since I had to watch that asshole touch Drew all night. Then to top it all off, when I was about to spread Drew's legs and give her the orgasm of her life, Bennett started banging on the door. I had lost my shit, but any rational guy would at that point...
"He knocked Jackson out!" A blonde stormed around the corner, pointing at me as she glanced around the room.
A few of the Barrington guys reacted to her dog-whistle screech and stood up like they were going to do something.
"Ah, hell yeah!" Hendrix pushed a girl off his lap and jumped to his feet, cracking his neck as Max shoved through the crowd. "Time for a fight."
Wolf rounded the stairwell, fists ready to throw blows. These Barrington assholes never seemed to learn their lesson.
The blonde's palms landed on Max's chest, and while he may have looked like he was ready to go to her, I saw the hesitation, the absolute fear pricking a sweat over his brow.
"Do not start a fight with these Neanderthals," she said. "I already called the Barrington police."
"Oh, come on, Olivia?" Max said. "I'll be done with them long before the cops get here."
That made a smirk dart across my face. I hadn't been there when Zepp went at him, but Zepp had left him alive, which was more than I could say I would do had this shithead pulled the same stunt on Drew.
"You really want another stint in the hospital, Harford?" I said, bowing up. "I'd be more than happy to oblige."
"Do not do it." Olivia placed herself in front of him, acting like it was her, and not his fear, keeping him from throwing the first punch. "I don't want you guys accountable."
Hendrix walked behind them, eyeing her up and down. "That's a cute way of saying you don't want their asses to get handed to them."
A loud bang sounded outside. A group of people hurried to the massive floor-to-ceiling window. "Holy crap!" a girl shouted. "Someone's ramming a Maserati into a piece of shit by the drive."
"I think it's Jackson's girlfriend," someone else said.
And now, I was going to kill everyone. Because it was Drew—and people thought she belonged to him. Anger fired through me on my way outside, but I managed to tamp it down and stroll down the steps like I didn't give a shit. Wolf followed behind me, puffing on a joint.
The white glow of the reverse lights shined over the driver's side of my Civic while the Maserati's engine revved. Then the car slammed into mine.
"Psycho level twenty," Wolf mumbled, clapping a hand to my shoulder. "You know how to pick them, don't you, dude?"
I couldn't even deal with Wolf right now. I dragged my hands through my hair. The girl was insane, and while it pissed me off to no end, some masochistic, sick-ass part of me liked it way too much.
Shouts came from the front door I'd left open when I had stormed out. Something shattered. Hendrix must have started a damn fight. I glanced at Wolf, and he ducked his head on a shake.
"I'll go get him."
I started to the drive, and Drew's car came to an abrupt halt. The window lowered. Nora sat completely mortified in the passenger seat, refusing to make eye contact with me while Drew leaned forward, a fake smile in place and her tight little body still in Bennett's fucking shirt.
"I am so sorry." She touched a hand to her chest. "I just can't seem to find the right gear . Bad aim and all." The car lurched forward, then reversed again.
Metal crunched. Glass shattered. And the loose thread of control I'd managed to cling to all night unraveled like a cheap ball of yarn. "Are you insane?" I shouted.
"Yes!" She flipped me off, then drove away, the broken taillight of her Maserati swinging against the backend of the car.
I heard Hendrix cussing behind me and turned to see Wolf dragging him out without his shirt, kicking and screaming.
The distant wail of police sirens sounded, and I snatched my keys from my pocket. "Get in the car, assholes."
Wolf let Hendrix go, and he dove through one of the broken back windows while Wolf went to the passenger side.
When I tugged on the driver's side handle, the door wouldn't budge. Thanks to the hulk-sized dent sealing the damn thing shut. "I may actually kill her," I mumbled, rounding the car. "Fuck her. Then kill her."
I shoved Wolf out of the way, then ducked through the passenger-side door, climbed across the console, and sank to the driver's seat, cranking the engine.
"At least it starts," Wolf said.
I backed out at full speed and floored it down the street. As soon as I got out of Barrington, I texted Drew.
Me: If your dumbass boyfriend is smart, he'll play by the rules and not press charges.
Me: Remind him of that.
One girl shouldn't be able to make me so mad. So what if she wanted to screw Bennett? So what if she hated Dayton and hated me? So fucking what if she drove her hundred-thousand-dollar car into my 1988 Honda?
Medusa: Fuck you. I hope you get arrested and bummed in jail .
My blood pressure had never been so high. Until that very moment, I had no idea that it could actually spot your vision.
I tapped across the screen furiously, watching for the red light to change.
Me: You realize you have anger issues .
Message not delivered. And then I threw my phone into the floorboard.
