33. Jett

Chapter 33

In one week, Stevie has done what my father couldn't my entire life growing up—she's turned me into a morning person. I glance at my alarm clock on the nightstand, it's a quarter after seven. Stevie's usually up and crawling in our bed by now.

I roll over to cuddle up to Wyla. Her leaving today has really been weighing on her. She usually stays up waiting for me to get home after the games, but last night, she had fallen asleep on the couch.

As I carried her to the bed, I wasn't mad at all that she was asleep but I hated the fact that this might not be happening again anytime soon. I know it's so extremely selfish of me to expect her to move here, but whatever decision she makes we'll figure it out. I can't not have her in my life .

Wyla rolls around wrapping her arm around my waist and snuggling into my chest. "What time is it?"

I pull her in closer. "A little after seven. Should we be concerned that Stevie's not up yet?"

"No, and don't you dare think about waking her."

"And ruin this time with you? Absolutely not." Soon, we'll have to get up and get to the airport but I want to savor this moment a little while longer. I kiss her head. "You okay?"

She signs softly. "I'm okay. Thursday was really hard, I hated that I missed it. Wav's wanted this for so long… I felt like I should have been there but then between that and yesterday, it got me thinking."

"You mean worrying?"

She rolls her eyes. "Yes, worrying.

I tuck some of her hair behind her ear. "What's worrying you, baby?"

"I'm worried we're going to miss those things. Missing the hard moments, the sad, being there when the other needs you. I know we still have a lot to figure out but I want to figure it out with you."

"We'll make it work, Wy."

She takes an alarming deep breath. "Jett, Stevie and I are going to move here. "

"What?" So, maybe I'm still sleeping? Maybe I'm not a morning person after all.

Wyla looks up at me then she smiles. "I love you, Jett. We wasted five years because of a decision I made out of fear. I don't want to make the same mistake again."

"Say that again. The first part."

She might have implied it the first night but she hasn't said it. She didn't have to, but hearing it now… I swear, Stevie's laugh was the best thing I'd ever heard but it's second compared to this.

Her smile lights up her entire face. "I love you."

I roll out of the bed, and she laughs, "Where are you going?"

"Locking the door." I flip the lock then climb on top of her. "I'm going to need you to say it one more time but wait until I'm inside of you."

"Jett." She laughs but I cut her off with my mouth on hers and pressing my thigh in between her legs. She moans, "Mmm, okay, but we have to be quick."

I lean up on my elbows, taking a little weight off of her. "Are you sure this is what you want, Wy? To move here?"

"I want to be with you, Jett. Wherever you are." She pokes at my chest. "I want to be there. I love you. "

"I love you too." Damn it feels so good to hear her say that. "Hey, I said wait until I'm inside of you before you say that again."

That smile takes over. There was a time I thought it would only ever be a memory, now I couldn't live without it. Without her.

"Don't worry, Jett. I'll say it again."
