MS. FORTUNA

I gazed at the screen, watching as the couples raised their glasses in a toast. The drinks they held were significant—each one representing a special moment or memory they had shared together. Rissa and Luce with their mudslide and cognac, Cassie and Aiden with their champagne and Lemon Drop. Shay took a tiny sip of her gin and tonic, saying, "I won't finish this. Don't want it getting in my breast milk." Martellus chuckled as he drank his beer. Hugh had red wine, no doubt laced with blood. Tanni's herbal tea reflected her unique personality. She wasn't a drinker at all. Cathy's white wine and Rey's brandy, Bran's martini and Roma's daiquiri.

As they sipped from their glasses, I could see the love and contentment on their faces. They had been through so much to get to this point, but they had emerged stronger, more committed to each other than ever before.

I leaned back in my chair, a smile playing across my lips. It was moments like these that made all the hard work worthwhile. Late nights, endless phone calls, careful matchmaking and subtle nudges in the right direction.

I have always believed in the transformative power of love, in its ability to change lives and make people grow. Seeing these couples now, so happy and in love, only reinforced that belief.

With a contented sigh, I reached for the remote and switched off the TV. The screen went dark, but the warmth in my heart remained. I had played my part and played it well. And though I knew there would always be more work to be done, more hearts to bring together, for now I'd enjoy an evening off, secure in the knowledge that I had made a difference.

"Well done, Lady Luck," I murmured to myself, my smile widening. "Well done indeed."
