CHAPTER FORTY

MCKINLEY

Waking up without Jagger next to me is not my favorite way to start the day. I squash my urge to find him and jump into his arms, when I hear the distant sound of a guitar strumming, along with his sexy as hell voice singing. Clearly, he is working on something, so I take a shower and get dressed without disturbing him. Walking down to the kitchen, I can still hear the faint sounds of music, although I’m getting further away. I smile to myself when I notice he already made coffee, which he does for me, because he doesn’t drink it.

I pour myself a cup and add my sugar free cream to it. My diet is different from what it once was, but some things I’ve kept. I’m not obsessed with losing weight, or every bite I put into my body, but I choose not to fill it with unnecessary sugar either. I still try to eat healthy the majority of the time. Jagger helped me develop a workout routine that I’m happy with. It turns out the rock god knows a bit about working out. After all, you don’t get a body like his without work.

He strolls into the kitchen, looking far more the sex god than the rock god they claim he is.

“Good morning, beautiful. I hope I didn’t wake you with all the racket.”

I giggle as he wraps his arms around my waist, and kisses my neck.

“You did not wake me up. Also, you look and smell amazing. Who do I need to kill?”

He chuckles softly in my ear. “I have that interview for the Live from The Atmosphere special.”

I set my coffee on the counter behind me.

“I still think that’s a weird name for an amphitheater.”

He bites my neck, making me moan before he pulls away.

“I’ll be back in a few hours. What are you planning to be up to?”

I grab my coffee before responding, “Shopping, I think.”

Jagger pulls his wallet out from his back pocket and hands it to me. “Here. This is yours. Please use it.”

The expression on his face tells me not to argue, so I don’t.

“Fine,” I say, as I roll my eyes.

“Please be careful. My driver will take you wherever you need to go.”

“Yes, sir,” I giggle as he places his thumb and forefinger on my chin, and stares into my eyes. “I think I like that, filthy girl. I mean it, be careful. I’ll text you when I’m leaving.”

“I will be careful.”

Leaning forward, he kisses me softly. “I love you.”

“I love you too, Wild.”

He grins at me. “This weekend we’ll go ring shopping. The sooner I get a diamond on your finger, the sooner I can marry you.”

“Are you in a hurry?” I ask him.

“Fuck yeah,” he says, “I knew the moment I saw you, I wanted to marry you. Three years ago, I was ready to make this permanent, but I knew you weren’t. Now that you are? Yeah, baby, I’m in a big fucking hurry to have everything I’ve ever wanted.”

Kissing me on the forehead, he groans. “I wish I didn’t have to leave, but I gotta go. I love you.”

“I love you too,” I yell as he heads for the door.
