2. Livy

CHAPTER TWO

LIVY

L imbs went flying, bits of demon scattering over the room as blood poured like a rainstorm. The Demon God howled furiously, clawing my kidnappers apart without mercy. It was like something out of a blood and gore movie. It was an act of pure carnage, and I had a front row seat.

I recoiled, watching the life drain from my captors' eyes. Those demons had brought me here against my will and tortured me. These weren't good guys. But as I watched their bones breaking, and listened to their petrified screams, I pitied them.

The Demon God's chest rose and fell as he glanced around, taking stock of the gruesome scene and all that he'd done.

A twister wouldn't have done the damage Malek just had. The walls were painted red, bits and pieces of demons pasted the walls and dirtied the floor around Malek and he didn't seem the least bit bothered by it.

He was a killing machine, tall and wide shouldered with a face that looked like it had been carved by angels. Everything about him oozed hyper-masculinity, from his squared jaw up to his thick, naturally arched brows. He was beautiful, and dangerous like the Angel of Death .

He discarded his bloody shirt, tossing it to the floor. His rippling muscles were now on glorious display. They glistened, stealing attention from the bloodbath that framed them.

Every gorgeous inch of him was designed to tempt and ensnare. His eyes turned my way, his gaze caressed something inside of me, awakening desires so dark I dared not voice them.

"Sunny, did they hurt you?" Malek appeared at my side so swiftly, I didn't see him come over. He untied me, and I rubbed my sore wrists before climbing off the torture table.

Sunny? He had called me Livienne in our previous conversations. Why was he suddenly calling me, ‘Sunny'?

"Aside from some pulled muscles and a few bruises, they didn't hurt me. And, I'm sorry. Sunny? Do you mean me?" I scratched my temple and a grin too beautiful to belong to a demon lit up his face.

"Of course. Sunny, who else but you shines bright enough to light up a dark room?" He spoke with the familiarity of a friend.

Now this demon was giving me nicknames?

"I am not your Sunny. I think you have me confused with someone else." I continued to rub my sore wrists.

"I think I would recognize my own bride." His eyes blew wide, his head canting to the side.

"Bride?" I laughed hysterically.

So now I'm engaged to the Demon King? Excellent.

He had to be on drugs if he really believed that.

I took a step away from him and pain sparked through my ankle like a firecracker. I winced, bending my knee to take some pressure off the ankle.

"Those bastards! You are hurt." He scooped me up like a sack of potatoes, carefully carrying me princess style out of the room and up a dark staircase .

His warm earthy scent flooded my nose, and I couldn't stop my cheeks from warming. The Demon God was touching me. My face was nestled in the powerful abs of the Father of Evil. How was this possible?

"My injury is minor. I-I'm perfectly capable of walking, thank you." I complained, struggling in his arms.

"You'll exacerbate your injuries. Just relax and let me take care of you, Sunny!" He snapped, giving me a look that said no amount of arguing would make him put me down.

I argued with him all the way up the stairs, but it made no difference. He was like a child with his favorite toy, stubborn in his resolve to keep it at all costs.

We emerged from a basement and entered the living room in a dilapidated and abandoned house. Outside the house, a shiny black Mustang sat in the driveway. Not telling me where we were going, Malek strapped me into the passenger seat.

Slamming on the gas, Malek tore through the quiet neighborhood. After a few silent minutes, homes gave way to shops and high rises as we entered the city. The opulent palace I'd escaped sat on a small hill in the distance, glistening majestically in the morning sunlight. Coming through the back streets to avoid traffic, he jetted in the palace's direction.
