Daredevil Chapter 1
This weekend promised to be a fun, wild, and busy one. Usually, anymore, they were rather low-key due to the fact most of us were settled down with families. Sure, women still came from Tenillo and other nearby towns to party with us single guys. They got to walk on the wild side and tell their friends how they did so and got biker cock while they were at it. Since we were all healthy men in our sexual primes, we weren't offended. Why would we be? It meant we had access to almost limitless women and variety.
Ashes, Vicious, Dragon, and I had more than a few to choose from at any given time. Even adding in Colton and Cullen, our two new prospects, there were plenty of women to go around. Most were up for just about anything when it came to sex. A man's dream life, right?
Well, not exactly every man's dream. Anymore, the four of us, the newest patched members, weren't as content with the status quo. We were looking for more. The thing our other club brothers had. A woman who was ours. Someone you could share your life with. Having a bed partner for a few hours wasn't cutting it anymore.
For me, it had become glaringly more obvious with the past few old ladies claimed. They had something about them, and I would've been more than happy to explore to see if they might be the one for me. Unfortunately, some might say, they were claimed by my brothers. Ultimately, I didn't see it as unfortunate anymore. Anyone watching the couples together knew they were with the ones meant for each of them. Case in point, Bella and Boomer, the last ones.
I had given it a try and did something I never did, and asked Bella out on a date. I didn't know it at the time, but so did Dragon, Vicious, and Ashes. When I found out, I wasn't too upset. Competition wasn't a new thing, so bring it on. She and I had a great time on our date, and I was hoping for another. Only unbeknownst to us, Boomer, who had declared he wanted only sex from her, ended up wanting way more, and he was able to get in there and claim the prize. I was pissed at first, but not anymore. That was probably why I was looking forward to this weekend. I wasn't expecting to meet anyone, but I wouldn't say no to getting my cock wet. It had been a while.
It was Labor Day weekend. We were having a party to last all weekend, which we typically didn't do. Besides family and close employees, we were having our newest allies, the Devil's Regulators, coming back for their second visit. On their first trip to Tenillo, they only brought their club members and none of their families or bunnies. They had to be sure of us before they exposed them to us, especially their families. We understand this need.
Only Clutch and Howler had old ladies. I wasn't sure if they had kids or not. However, the others had extended family members, and they were going to bring some of them this time. I was looking forward to getting to know the Regulators better. And since most of their guys were single, too, there was a chance they might bring a few bunnies along.
They knew we'd have plenty of hang arounds to keep them happy if they didn't bring bunnies because, unlike most MCs, we didn't have club bunnies anymore. Not a loss, in my opinion. Those women, while alright for sex, typically loved causing more trouble and drama than they were worth.
Our club was in a more relaxed mode right now. We were enjoying not having to go after bad guys intent on ruining our town or targeting the old ladies every other week. It allowed both clubs in town to get back to enjoying life. We were still allies and friends with them, but life was taking them in a different direction than us. I think the fact that we were all at the "let's have kids" stage and that most of them weren't was a factor. In fact, we had three babies on the way in the next several months. They were overall past the kid stage.
As if my brothers weren't enough to make me want to find and lock down my soulmate or whatever you wanted to call it, so did my family, my parents in particular. Unlike the majority of my club brothers, I had a birth family, and we were close. I'd grown up in an ideal family, which was filled with love, and we were never neglected or abused. I wish I could say the same for the rest of my club brothers.
Dad and Mom had always been blatantly in love with each other. As a young kid and teenager, it had been embarrassing how they were always holding hands, kissing, and flirting with each other. As an adult, I'd come to desire the same thing. I was the oldest of five children. I found Hispanic families often had more children than the typical two or three a lot of families had. I teased my folks it was because they wanted to ensure someone would take care of them in their old age. They argued it was just our culture. With me being thirty-eight, my parents, especially Mom, were despairing they'd ever get grandkids. None of us were married or had kids.
Diego was thirty-six and Marco thirty-four. Lorenzo was thirty-two and the baby of the family, the only girl, Micaela, was twenty-six. We liked to tease her the two-year gap Dad and Mom had going with the rest of us didn't occur with her because she had been adopted. When she was small, she would cry, and we'd get our asses beat for making her bawl. She ran to the folks every time to tell them we were being mean to her. As she got older, the little shit would tell our folks we were doing it even when we weren't to get us into trouble, but they knew she was full of it. The truth was Mom had miscarried a few times before Micaela. They wanted a girl, and once they got her, they were finally done.
I think the thing which they couldn't understand was why it was taking us so long to find "the one". Dad and Mom were twenty-four and twenty-two when I was born and had been together since they were twenty-two and twenty. They met in college and claimed it was love at first sight. Growing up, I didn't know if I believed in love at first sight. I thought it was only in movies and books, not real life. After joining the Infidels and seeing how so many of my brothers had fallen basically instantly, I had to rethink it. As attracted as I was to Bella and Londyn when I met them, I never felt like I was in love with them. There was no insane desire to eliminate any man who showed them interest. It made me wonder if I would react that way even if I did find the woman for me. Maybe I wasn't built like my brothers, which would make it harder to know if a woman was the one or not.
The rumble of more vehicle engines caught my attention. Glancing at the gate, I saw Colton open it, and two cars came pulling in. They were likely employees. Our various businesses employed quite a few civilians. Not all were friends with the club outside of work, but several were. Those ones were invited to the occasional party and encouraged to bring their families with them. They knew later tonight that more adult entertainment would begin and to clear out if they didn't want to be here for it. Most of the old ladies left when clothes started to come off, but not all. Sometimes, they stayed and relied on others to keep the kids. All of them were good about taking turns doing babysitting duty. If everyone wanted to relax, then there were a select few entrusted with the Infidels' children, but on the compound only.
After parking, the doors opened on the two cars, and out of one came Maren. She was one of the bartenders at The Hangout. We all liked her. She was fun, super sweet, and never seemed to have a bad word to say. The other main bartender, Tobie, was sort of an ass. He did his job, but he wasn't the most likable, so he wouldn't be here. Not that he would come even if asked. I got the impression he didn't agree with our lifestyle, but he stood it enough to work for us—no loss in my books.
Out of the other car stepped Buddy and Mac. They both worked as mechanics for Saint at Infidels' Custom Motors. I waved when they saw me, but I didn't bother to go greet them since I saw Saint and Pitbull heading toward them with Piper and Luciana in tow. Not far behind were Phalanx, Bullet, and Raine. Maren was close to Raine.
Walking around to the barbeque area in the back of the clubhouse, I took in the organized chaos happening there. We had more grills set up to help with the food. Large tent tops were pitched all over to offer shade and there were tables and chairs underneath those and scattered about the open space. If we ran out of seating, there was plenty of ground to sit down and relax on. Large coolers were set up all over, offering a variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. There were a ton of people here already. I thought the only ones we should still be waiting on were the Regulators. They had a long ride, so they had told us not to expect them until the afternoon.
While I was looking forward to talking to all of them, I was particularly wanting to see Fender and Moose. The last time they were here, we'd hit it off the best and spent hours kicking back, talking, and swapping stories. I wanted to do more of it. All of them were a group of good guys I could talk to, but those two were the ones I seemed to gravitate toward more.
A gentle hand on my back had me turning around. I smiled. There was Ember. All the old ladies were sweet in their own ways, and I couldn't think of a single one I didn't like or wouldn't lay down my life to protect, but Ember held an extra special spot for me. It might have to do with her daughter Morgan, who I got such a kick out of. She was a little spitfire, and I couldn't wait to see what she'd be like when she got older. God help us all.
"Are you ready to have some fun?" she asked me.
"Are you? How did you get away from your old man? And where is my future wife?" I teased as I winked at her.
She laughed. "Morgan is here somewhere. You'd better watch it. Rampage is still determined to end you so she doesn't marry you one day."
I grinned. "I know, but it's too much fun to tweak him about it. He gets this look on his face, and then he has to behave, or Morgan will tear him to shreds, and I love it. She's gonna be a tough date when she's older. Or she would be if we let her date, which ain't happening." I warned her. Morgan, like her mom, held a special place in my heart.
She rolled her eyes. "I swear you guys are crazy. Our daughters have as much right to date as our sons, you know. I don't hear any of you saying they can't date when they get older."
"Of course not. It's a double standard we embrace. No one will be good enough for our girls, and we don't ever want to think of a guy having sex with our daughters because we know how boys and men think. We're pigs."
Her mouth dropped open in astonishment. "Oh my God, I can't believe you admitted that! I wish I'd recorded it. The other ladies won't believe you said it."
"Said what?" Rampage's gruff voice asked from behind us. Not missing a beat, I turned and said the first thing to pop into my head.
"How much my future mother-in-law loves me," I told him as I slung an arm around Ember's shoulders. She was shaking, but not from fear. I knew she was fighting not to laugh and spoil my teasing.
"If you call her your mother-in-law again, I swear I'll kill you for real, Daredevil! You're not gonna be my son-in-law. Morgan is going to go to a convent," he snarled.
"Rampage, she's got a mind of her own. Good luck with that," I smirked. He was about to threaten me with more violence. I could tell when a sweet, angelic voice interrupted.
"Daddy, are you threatening to kill Daredevil again? I told you to stop that. We're getting married, and there's nothing you can do about it," Morgan told him while giving him the evil eye.
"Sweetheart, how're you doing today? Are you ready to have fun?" I asked her.
The smile she gave me told me she would have boys falling at her feet in droves. "I am. Will you help me? I need someone to push me on the swing. Zavier is busy with his dad."
"Baby girl, I can push you," Rampage informed her.
"I know, Daddy, but I want Daredevil to do it."
I could tell this wounded him. I decided to stop torturing him for the moment. "Honey, I have to go do some work right now. I'll try to catch you later, but I think you and your daddy should do it before it gets busy."
"Okay, see you later. Come on, Daddy," she told him as she shook her hand at him. He gave me a disgruntled look before he let her lead him by the hand to the play area.
"Thank goodness the rest of ours are boys," Ember muttered.
"For now. If you guys have more, you could get another girl. It might kill him if it happens, though."
"We haven't decided yet if we'll have another, but if we do, and it's a girl, you'll have to help me have him committed. He'll go berserk."
"No worries, I'll help. The thought of him in a straitjacket appeals to me," I joked. She punched my arm as she laughed and shook her head. We talked for a few more minutes. What interrupted us was the roar of bike engines I could now hear approaching. It had to be the Regulators. I saw several of my brothers and old ladies moving toward the parking lot to greet them. Ember and I joined them, but we got separated along the way.
I was right. When the gate opened, a big group of bikes and a few cars drove in. I saw Sin at the front of our crowd, and he was pointing to where they could park. I eagerly scanned them. I noticed there were women and a few kids in the cars. In addition, I saw something which surprised the hell out of me. There was a woman riding on the back of Moose's bike. When had he gotten an old lady in the past couple of months? He hadn't said anything in any of the text messages we'd exchanged. Maybe she was a bunny.
I edged closer. I wanted to see what kind of woman got him to let her on the back of his bike. I assumed he'd be like us and reserved it for his old lady, but I might be wrong. I couldn't see her face due to the helmet she had on. It was one with a full-face shield. When he parked, she easily swung off the back of his bike. I decided to go greet him. I noticed Fender was only a couple of bikes over from them.
As I approached, I took in what I could see of the woman. She was dressed like a typical rider in jeans and boots. She had on a leather jacket even though it was hot out. She was most likely protecting her skin if they went down. No matter how experienced and careful you tried to be, there were two types of riders: those who have gone down and those who will go down. I was intimately familiar with road rash. It hurt like a bitch when you got it and even more when you had to scrub the grit and debris out of your hide with antiseptic and a damn brush. Fuck that. I grimaced in remembrance.
Scanning her from head to toe, I felt my body react. Jesus, she was stacked. Her breasts were huge when you took in how tiny her waist was and her much wider hips. She was an hourglass in the extreme. I would call her compact perfection in my book when it came to her body. I confirmed it when she swung around to remove her jacket and helmet. I gulped when I saw her ass. Christ, he was gonna kill me for lusting after his woman, no matter if she was an old lady or a bunny. However if she was a bunny, it meant she was fair game. This thought made me perk up. I needed to see under the jacket to see if she had a property cut on or not.
She shrugged out of her leather jacket as if she had read my thoughts, put it in his saddlebag, and then took off the helmet. A cascade of long, dark brown, almost black hair caught my attention next. It was wavy and thick, the kind you could run your hands through and use to control and direct a woman. But her luscious hair was forgotten when she turned around after I realized she wore no property cut, and I saw her face. I forgot to breathe.
She had smooth mocha skin. I couldn't see her eyes from here to determine their color, but the shape of them and her face as a whole were beautiful. I moved closer. Her nose was slim, and her bottom lip was fuller than her top one. Her face was a perfect oval with high cheekbones. Dark brows arched over her eyes, and she had dark lashes. I found I had the urge to taste her lips and then taste her skin to see if she tasted like chocolate.
Moose, calling my name when he saw me, snapped me out of the almost trance she had me in. "Daredevil, get your ass over here," he boomed.
Moose came by his road name, honestly. He was a hulking guy with skin the color of espresso beans. His tats were less noticeable except those with the latest silvery-gray ink some ink slingers were using. The whole package made him a scary fucker, and when he had to be, he was just like the rest of us. I smiled and made myself not eye fuck her as I met him. He gave me a back-slapping hug, which felt like he'd broken a rib pounding on me. I did my best to break his back. Fair was fair, after all.
"It's good to see your ugly face, fucker. Thanks for the invite. It's gonna be a blast," he said.
"You're always welcome here, Moose. I think you'll have nothing to complain about this trip."
"Damn right, we won't," Fender said as he joined us. The hugging ritual happened again.
"We'll do our best not to disappoint. The ladies are eager to meet your women and kids." I told them.
"Yeah, Howler and Clutch's old ladies can't wait, either. They brought their rugrats. We only have a few compared to your gang. Shit, man, how many do you have anyway?" Moose asked as he ran his eyes across the crowd he could see. Some of the kids were running among it. The first time here, we kept the women and kids mostly away from them. We were still getting a feel for them just as they were for us.
A quick calculation in my head had the answer. "Thirteen, with three more on the way."
"Fuck, we're not even close. Moose, you'll have to find yourself a woman and get started on adding some for us," Fender told him with a grin. This answered the question if the woman standing there listening to us was his old lady. It was doubtful she was his girlfriend either with that comment.
"Why the hell me? What about you?" Moose countered. I heard the woman snort, then snicker under her breath. I glanced over to finally meet her eyes, and I was sucked into her gaze. She had the most amazing green eyes, which was so not what I would expect for a Black woman. They were mesmerizing. Her snort got Moose's attention, too.
"What're you snorting about, Shain?"
"The thought of any woman putting up with your ass," was her snappy comeback.
Shain, that was a different name for a woman. She was full of surprises, and I found I wanted to discover them all. Damn, no woman had grabbed my curiosity like this in such an immediate way. The desire to get to know her was unexpected. I'd had a mild case of it with Bella and a faint one with Londyn, but this was a hundred times worse.
"Look who's talking. What man would be able to put up with you?" he replied back to her.
"Since I'm not looking for one, it doesn't matter. If I want kids, I can get a man long enough to do the deed, then he can hit the road." She gave him a self-satisfied smirk as she said it.
My gut tightened at the thought of her having sex with some faceless man to get pregnant. My response was to tell her it wasn't happening, but if she wanted kids, I was her man. Fuck, I was losing it.
"Over my fucking dead body, you will! Your ass is locked down when we get home if you're gonna talk shit like that. If you think me or any of the guys will allow it, you're wrong," Moose said in a pissed-off tone.
"Moose, you can't tell me what to do. In case you didn't notice, I'm an adult. The days of you and the club telling me what to do are gone."
Not wanting them to fight, although I was learning things and wanted to chime in and agree with Moose, I interrupted. "Mind introducing me to your passenger? I never thought I'd see you with a woman on your bike unless she was your old lady."
"You won't, but Shain is the exception."
"She's an exception for all of us. We only want to protect her," Fender added as he gave her a tender look. It made me wonder if he had feelings for her. She smiled back.
"Love ya, Fender. You know I love all of you. It's just you guys want to smother me. I need to live."
"Yeah, yeah, we know. We're being rude. Shain, this is Daredevil. He's one of the Infidels, obviously. Fender and I met him on our first trip down here, and we had a great time hanging out with him and shooting the breeze. Daredevil, this is Shain. She's my—" he was interrupted by the arrival of more Regulators wanting to say hello, and they were accompanied by some of my brothers. I had to work not to show my impatience with their arrival. I needed to know who she was to him and Fender as well.
Crash, Stinger, and Maestro greeted me the same way Fender and Moose had. I returned their greetings. Once they were done, my brothers and their old ladies stood there expectantly regarding Shain.
"Everyone, this is Shain. She's my responsibility this weekend. If she misbehaves, just let me know," Moose told them with a grin.
Shain rolled her eyes and gave him the middle finger. "I'll behave better than you. You'll have to forgive my cousin. He thinks I'm still five, and he's my boss. In fact, the whole club does. I may use this as my chance to run away. Anyone have a good place I can hide out?"
As they responded and introduced themselves, I zoned them out. I was fixated on two things. One was the news that she was his cousin. It was a relief to find she wasn't claimed by him or they weren't sleeping together, although I still had to determine her relationship with Fender and the other Regulators. The big obstacle this news caused was she was a club princess. Those women were always off-limits unless a man was serious about making one his old lady.
Even if it were the case, the guy might have to jump through hoops to get her, and a possible beat down was likely. The other thing I was stuck on was her suggestion that she wanted to run away and was seeking a place to hide. I bit my tongue to stop myself from telling her she could hide out in my trailer. I knew a remark like that would have me most likely eating Moose's fist, especially since he'd take it the wrong way.
It was the approach of Ashes, Dragon, and Vicious that got my attention. I knew just by the expressions on their faces they'd spotted Shain and were moving in to see who she was and if they could make a move on her. My hackles went up at the thought. There was no goddamn way I was allowing them to get the jump on me. It was possible she and I wouldn't click or have anything in common, but until I determined one way or the other, I wasn't going to do what I did with Bella and Londyn. I would be first with her, and if it turned out to be nothing, then they could try their luck.
"Hey, good to see ya again. Who's your riding buddy?" Ashes asked Moose as he perused her.
"Yeah, aren't you gonna introduce us?" Dragon asked right after. Vicious stood there silently but intensely watching her.
"Let me tell you four," Moose started to say, then paused as he looked at all four of us one at a time. He had a stern look on his face.
Once he knew we were paying attention, he continued, "Shain is my cousin. She's not here to be the entertainment this weekend. She's a princess, not a damn bunny or a hang around. If I catch anyone treating her like she is, you'll regret it. Get notches on your headboards off someone else. We brought a few bunnies to entertain you all and us. Plus, we want to meet the hang arounds you have here."
"No one will treat her with disrespect. If they do, they'll answer to me," I immediately told him. It just came out of my mouth.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my declaration had raised some eyebrows and caused a few frowns. Too bad the prospects weren't here to hear it. I'd make sure to clue them in, too. My plans for the entire weekend just changed. It was no longer working to get laid and have fun with our new friends. Now, it was to get to know her to see if there was potential there while having fun with our new friends and navigating so as not to get beat down or killed. For me, this added to the fun factor. I liked the element of danger. Call me an adrenaline junkie.
Moose was staring hard at me. I met his gaze and regarded him right back. After a minute, he dropped his eyes. I knew I'd hear more in private soon, but I would expect nothing less. Shain was just as intensely studying me. The tiny frown lines on her forehead between her eyes made me want to smooth them away with my fingers or, better yet, my lips—a response I'd never had before.
My married brothers and their ladies didn't say anything, but I caught them exchanging knowing grins. Yeah, you might be right. We'll see was what I wanted to tell them, but it could wait. I needed to get her situated and taken care of so I could learn more about her. Moose hadn't once mentioned he had a female cousin the last time he was here, nor during any of our conversations since then.
"Why don't we move to the back and find you all a seat? There are cold drinks back there, and we can relax and talk. The food is cooking, but it'll be a while longer until it's done. Shain, these two have been here and know the way. Let me escort you, and later, I can give you a more extensive tour so you know where everything is." As I said it, I eased up to her and held out my elbow to her. She slowly took it as if she were unsure if she should. Her uneasy glances at Moose and the other Regulators told me she was worried about how they'd react.
"I'd like that. I want to see what your compound has in common with ours and what is different. First off, how big is it?"
"The fenced-in part encloses the original eighty acres. It was Sin's family's land before we formed the club. Recently, we purchased an additional fifty acres. Those lie outside the fence. You might've seen some building going on as you came down the road."
"We did. I wondered why a barn was needed there," she murmured.
"It's actually a stable. Boomer's old lady, Bella, teaches people to ride horses and provides equestrian therapy. We wanted it closer to us but not inside the gate where we'd have to be opening it all the time to outsiders. The extra land was the perfect solution. It should be finished in less than a month."
"I adore horses. You must introduce me to this Bella. Do you ride?"
"You'll no doubt meet her. I'm learning. She's been giving most of us lessons. I assume you ride?"
"I do. I've been mad for them since I was a little girl. I don't get to ride as much as I used to, unfortunately."
"Yeah, she eased back on riding actual horses after she learned to ride a steel horse," Fender drawled. He was following us closely, not that Moose and the other Regulators weren't on our heels.
"You ride bikes?" Vicious asked gruffly.
I wish he and the others would get lost. I scowled at them over my shoulder, but they ignored me, the bastards.
"I do. I love my bike." Her admission and the smile on her face as she admitted it added another check mark on the checklist I didn't realize I had for the ideal woman until this very moment. This weekend was looking better than I imagined and for totally different reasons.
