Chapter 21

K assadee

The Next Day

Mama called and asked me to stop by on my way to work, so I did. I already had an idea of what she wanted since Dali told me how family dinner went with his people last night. It tickled me to think that Mama Pam had already told the secret, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. We knew she couldn’t hold water for shit. She tried, but her mouth was like a tire with a leak. It could only hold so much air before it completely spilled.

I stopped by Steeped to get them some pastries and to grab the latest thrillers and fantasy romances that had stocked the shelves of Swayde’s bookstore. After ringing the doorbell, I let myself inside. My parents were old school and didn’t bother locking their doors until night fell. Jasper Lane was super safe for the most part. We only had trouble with drifters floating through. Other than that, if crimes were committed, it was usually crimes of passion against people who knew each other, unfortunately.

“Where y’all at?” I yelled, and Mama answered letting me know she was in the den.

I made my way down the long hall through the living room and into the den. It’s octagon shape made intentional conversation the priority. They had a sofa and two chairs that were turned facing each other in a circular shape.

“Hey, Ma,” I spoke as she stood to give me a hug.

“I got a very interesting phone call last night.”

Chuckling, I set the box of pastries on the coffee table. “Oh yeah? From who?”

“Are you and my baby boy together, or y’all still circling each other, princess?” Daddy asked, making his way inside.

With a smile, I watched as he casually opened the box and grabbed a bear claw. “We’re… together.”

“About time. Coffee in here by the stove,” he said, heading back out.

Me and Mama shared a quiet laugh as I made myself comfortable.

“Well, I guess that’s what you wanted to talk to me about?” I confirmed as Mama grabbed a cheese pastry.

“It is. Pam didn’t say that exactly, but she alluded to it and made me promise not to say anything until you did.”

“Both of y’all are terrible.”

We cackled and toasted with our pastries before the conversation shifted. She told me about how they’d gotten things taken care of concerning my grandfather’s land. Granny agreed to letting them keep it just as long as they agreed not to involve her or fight over what to do with it. She made them sign an agreement that said if the land caused a rift between them that it would be sold immediately, and that seemed to please everyone.

I stayed for a few minutes longer before getting ready to head out. After saying goodbye to Daddy, I headed to the front door with Mama trailing behind.

“I know you’re happy, but I want you to be careful.”

As I opened the front door, I looked back at her. “Be careful of what?”

“Dali.”

My head tilted and brows wrinkled in confusion. “Why?”

“You’ve loved and wanted my sweet boy since y’all were kids. I just… want to make sure you have realistic expectations. Sometimes you can romanticize a person while you don’t have them and put them on a pedestal they can’t realistically reach. I don’t want that to cause disappointment or heartache for either of you.”

That made me smile.

She was looking out for me, but she was looking out for Dali too.

“Thank you for the wisdom. I’ll keep that in mind, but I think we’ll be okay. He’s been very intentional with me so far and I don’t think that will change. Heck, I’m trying to find ways to keep up with him.” Though I chuckled, I was serious. “He’s been… so good to me, Ma. It honestly feels like a dream, but it’s my reality. I-I… I finally have the man of my dreams.”

My mouth twisted to the side as my eyes watered. When she pulled me into her arms, I was unable to hold them in any longer. I giggled as she rubbed my back and wiped away my tears. The last thing I needed was to have puffy eyes going to work.

After Work

There wasn’t anywhere else in the world that showed the stars better at night than Jasper Lane. No matter where I traveled and what I experienced, a starry night in Jasper Lane was one of the most calming, majestic things I’d ever seen. The first time I hiked and experienced this with Dali, it was right after we’d agreed to be friends again when Siri came back home.

This time, we were lovers.

This time, we’d driven to Serene Springs since it had an illuminated path you could drive up to get to the top of the mountain. Crashing waterfalls provided the perfect ambiance. There were several caves you could stop in along the way if you didn’t want to go all the way up that had a few feet of space to sit and lay on to enjoy the view.

Dali had walked to Ever’s Pub to drive my car. I didn’t know what all he had in the bags until we got here. He’d set up a blanket with light bites, wine, and his Bluetooth speaker. There were four pillows for us to lounge on while we looked out into the night sky. As we rotated our second blunt, I couldn’t help but smile. As simple as the night was, it was the thought and effort behind it that had me absolutely smitten.

I’d choose this over a fancy date any day.

“What you smiling and looking all goofy for?” Dali asked after releasing a smoke ring from his mouth.

“I’m just happy.” I giggled and covered my face while laying on my back. “We feel so right, Dali. I’m happy we finally made it here.”

He shifted slightly and wrapped his arm around me, gazing down at me with pure love in his eyes. Suddenly, the starry night sky was no longer my favorite view.

“I’m glad we made it here too. You’ve always been mine in my head and heart. Now I feel less crazy since it’s official.” We shared a chuckle. “I love you, Kassadee. Nothing means more to me in this world than you.”

I tugged my bottom lip between my teeth as my eyes watered. “I love you, babe. I feel the exact same way about you.”

His nose rubbed against mine before our lips connected. Dali’s fingers intertwined with mine, and he lifted them over my head. Our kiss deepened, and when I felt as if I was about to burst, he spread my legs with his knees. We made quick work of undressing each other, and I was glad we were on the same page about skipping foreplay. As immaculate as his mouth was, I wanted to be filled by him. A low, lazy moan escaped him as he slid into me, and the sound combined with the pressure of him stretching me caused me to whimper.

Dali pressed my knees into my chest, filling me with medium paced, methodical strokes that had my lips trembling and eyes rolling into the back of my head. My cum puddled at my opening from his constant strokes against my G-spot. I was wetter than I’d ever been before and was almost embarrassed, but his moans and groans and curses eased the shame of how good he was making me feel.

“Mhm,” he moaned, eyes lowering as he bit his bottom lip. “You got that gushy shit, Kas. You hear how wet your pussy is?” All I could do was nod as I released a trembling breath. “I gotta taste you. I gotta lick every drop up and make you wet all over again.”

And he did.

Dali pulled out, but before I could miss the feel of him inside of me, his tongue was sliding against my opening. His licking and sucking led me to my first orgasm of the night before he dropped that dick back into the pit of me.

My body heated and tingled as another orgasm surged through me. My moans were replaced with choppy breaths as my back arched. After I creamed his dick and cried out his name, Dali buried his face in my neck and stroked me deeper. Each breath, each moan he released was like a press on the detonator of my climax. I clawed at his back as his strokes slowed and hardened. Slurs erupted from the pit of me as my toes curled. I locked my legs around him, but that only intensified the pleasure.

“You cumming again?” he confirmed before sticking his tongue into my mouth and giving me a deep, nasty kiss. When I pulled away to moan, he chuckled. “You wet as fuck , bae.” Dali kneaded my ass before slapping it and tilting me slightly.

“ Ohmygod ,” I slurred, squeezing my eyes shut as I came again.

“Mm… that’s it, baby. Cum all on your dick. Soak my shit.”

I couldn’t stop even if I wanted to. I wasn’t sure if it was the finality of our relationship starting by way of us telling our parents, the weed and view, or the fact that I was just happy as hell to be with my man… but my body was completely under his control, and I was loving every second of it.

“Turn yo’ thick, pretty ass around. I wanna see this ass twerk before I bust my nut.”

Ever the gentleman, Dali grabbed a pillow for me to kneel on before arching my back as deeply as it would go. A guttural, “Shit,” fell from my lips the moment he slipped back inside.

Slow, long strokes turned swift and hard as I gripped the blanket. The sound of skin against skin combined with the sound of my ass clapping as he pummeled my pussy. I knew he was about to cum when he began to hum and moan about how good I felt while his hands squeezed my waist. His strokes grew sporadic, but he kept them steady enough to make me cum again before spraying my walls with his.

Before I could even lay back down all the way, Dali was pulling me onto his chest and running his fingers through my hair. I tossed my leg over him and squirmed when I felt his cum seep out of me.

“I need to get cleaned up,” I said with a yawn.

“In a second,” he replied, holding me tighter as he yawned as well.

That second turned into hours after we woke up from our unexpected rest.
