A year later

He'd stood with her beneath the stars that night and believed he was looking up at Heaven, but he'd only been partially right.

The moment he watched the love of his life bring their daughter into the world was more miraculous than he could ever have imagined.

He had no care that his colleagues saw the tears he was completely unable to hold back as the newborn was handed to him. Pressing a first kiss on the crown of her head, he gently lay her against her mother's breast.

Bending, he repeated the kiss on Micah's curls as she looked down at their baby. When she turned back to her Daddy, her own tears ran down her cheeks as she remembered a question from a year ago.

"I agree, Daddy. I can't imagine any other name for our little girl."

Stone laid his hand over hers that held their tiny daughter. "Welcome to the world, Lydia Rose Barrows. Your mommy and I can't wait to show you how magical it can be."
