Gloom - Epilogue

A few months later

"What do you mean?" I ask Candy as she teaches me how to make proper pancakes.

"I mean that I haven't heard from either of them since that night," Candy says in a sad tone. "I thought I did everything right. I thought they were both into me. They didn't seem to care too much for each other, but they liked me. Should I have chosen one of them?"

"Oh hell no, you deserve the world, Candy. If they didn't reach out, then you should move on to the next one."

"I don't think I can."

"Then, we need to get to scheming," I suggest and she smiles at me. I've grown close to Candy, since she still cleans Cupiō's house.

Ladybird wasn't the biggest fan, but once she realized how lonely Candy was and how she wasn't making a move on either of her men, she came around.

"Scheming?" my beautiful lady cupid says from the doorway.

"You know, Ladybird could probably teach you how to get those men into shape," I say, making Ladybird laugh and shake her head.

"I fear our dearest Candy has different proclivities. Interim Head Cupid is planning to throw a winter party or some shit. Maybe they will both be there," she suggests.

"Yes, they likely will. And you can flirt with someone else and show them what they're missing."

"Very devious," Ladybird says, kissing my cheek before taking her seat.

"Well, thanks for the advice. We'll see how things go. Enjoy the pancakes," Candy says sadly before leaving the house.

"Poor thing," I say and Ladybird takes a bite of her pancake, not saying a word. "What, you don't feel bad for her?"

"She'll be fine," Ladybird says, and I arch a brow at her.

Before I can get another word out, Cupiō walks into the kitchen, grabbing three mugs out of the cabinet and filling them with coffee.

"What are you up to today?" I ask him.

"Eros and I are going to Earth to make some love matches," he says, and I smile, happy that he and his son seem to be reconnecting. Ever since the little shit had his heart broken, he's been… well, less of a little shit.

The mug he gives me says top reaper, which is a total lie. His mug says number one cupid, and Ladybirds says daddy cupid.

I start my morning laughing with the people I love more than the afterlife itself.

Life as a spoiled kept reaper is a good one.
