Chapter 37 - Nic

I can't believe I'm marrying Lex today. We are having a small, intimate ceremony in the clearing in the woods behind Lex's parents' house. The only guests are his parents, my mom, Damon, Liam, Pat, and TJ. I am gutted that Penny isn't here to share my happiness, but the company she works for sent her to Dubai last week on a very important assignment. What's worse, she's going to be there for at least six to eight months, and we simply cannot postpone our wedding for so long.

Lex has gone into hyper-protective mode after we came back from his parents' place, especially with the Carnelian still on the loose. It has been only a fortnight since we declared our love for each other, but we couldn't wait to get married and be mated. Lex wanted it to be done at the earliest, since he thinks that after we are mated, the Carnelian will leave us alone, which makes sense. As long as we are unmated, he might try to separate us or harm us again. Lex hasn't let me out of his sight for even a single second, unwilling to take any risks with me or the baby.

I'm still getting used to the fact that my fiancé is a dragon shifter. I actually rode Lex's dragon form back to New York, and boy, what a journey that was! He is too gorgeous for words in his dragon form, and so gentle, so protective.

I haven't told my mom or Penny that Lex is a dragon shifter, simply because I don't know how to. Where do I even start? But I won't dwell on it today.

Today I'm going to marry the only man I've ever loved. I'm going to be mated to my dragon shifter.
