Chapter Thirteen
Scott
I crashed into Terrick’s arms when he walked back into the basement. I hadn’t left my perch on the sofa since he left, but I needed to feel him alive and well against me. My wolf’s tail wagged and wagged until I thought he might burst out of me, but I held tight to the man I had every intention of spending the rest of my life with.
“I’m okay,” Terrick whispered. “No concussion and we’ll have lab results soon.”
“I’m just happy you’re back here,” I whispered back to him.
“I’m not going anywhere. I don’t care what some old dead people think,” he promised me.
Frost and Juda were more than old dead people, but there would be plenty of time to talk about that later if we dealt with everything else first. I hadn’t told Liam and the others my plan, but I had one. I had a superpower when it came to Terrick that none of them had. I just needed to get time and space alone with him and let our bond run its course. Whatever had hurt him would rear its ugly head eventually and I’d solve the problem. If that didn’t work, I’d get to baking with Dakota and we’d solve the problem. If all else failed, I’d fight Frost myself if he showed up to take Terrick. He’d have to kill me and take me with him if it came down to it.
All eyes were on us as we stood hugging at the bottom of the basement stairs. I couldn’t let go of him. We were in this life or this death together and no one could tell me any differently. Terrick cradled my head in one hand against his muscular chest and I listened to his heartbeat until mine slowed to match his.
“The dads will be here in the morning,” Blithe said.
“Thanks,” I said, but didn’t pull away from Terrick.
“Scott?” Liam asked, his voice tired.
“Yeah, Liam?”
“Let’s get you guys somewhere you can be alone,” he said, sounding like he didn’t think it was a good idea but he must’ve been outvoted on the pack link here.
“Okay,” I nodded and glanced up at Terrick who nodded at me too.
“Where are you taking them?” Duke asked. “They can have a bedroom here.”
I glanced up at Terrick, but he shrugged.
“That’s up to you, mate,” he said and kissed the top of my head. “I’ll go where you go.”
I swallowed hard, because it was exactly the other way around. If the universe fucked us over, I’d go where he was going.
“I just don’t think this is the time to take a matingmoon---” Duke started, but Blithe swatted him on the arm.
“You can go, Scott. We’ll be okay here. If you guys need anything let us know,” Blithe said to me.
“Stay with your babies,” I said, trying to sound softer than I felt. “You shouldn’t miss out on this time with them just because chaos is back.”
“Just let us know,” Blithe frowned.
“Okay,” I nodded.
