Chapter Twenty-Six

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

Vince

V ince stood in one of the rooms of Colby's parents' house with Holden. Roe was in another room, likely with his brothers and son. A few of the guys had come in to check on Holden earlier, congratulating him and supporting him. Sean had been in here with them most of the time too, but he stepped out for a moment, Vince thought maybe to give them some time.

"I can't believe I'm getting married today." Holden looked at himself in the mirror. Holden and Roe were both wearing beige slacks, white button-up shirts, with black suspenders and a bow tie. It was simple and sexy and fit them perfectly.

"I bet you can't wait to get married today either." Vince walked over, Holden turning to face him.

Vince reached up and adjusted Holden's bow tie.

"You're right. I can't wait," Holden replied. "This town, this county, it was the best thing to happen to both of us."

Vince agreed. There wasn't a part of him that didn't believe that. "It is. I love Colby so much."

"I know you do."

"And this farm…I want to be here every day. I want every single thing in my life right now. It's because of you that I have what I do, and I'm so damn happy I get to share this life with you…and our men." He winked.

"Goddamn. Don't make me cry before my wedding, you asshole." Holden swiped at his eyes, then sobered. "It's not because of me that you have this, but I'm glad we both do, and I'm glad we found where we belong. And that while we're not together romantically, we're still together."

Yeah, yeah they were, and always would be.

He also knew this would never be him and Colby, that they wouldn't do the marriage thing, and that regardless, their relationship, their love, was just as real as what Holden and Roe shared. He would be spending his life with Colby Covington.

"We are," Vince replied. Things had turned out exactly as they were meant to.

There was a soft knock at the door before it slowly slid open and Colby stuck his head inside. "It's just about time. Are you ready? Roe is practically shitting himself, he's so excited." Colby stepped into the room.

"Well, let's hope that doesn't happen," Holden replied, and they chuckled.

Colby looked sexy as hell in a pair of black slacks and a long-sleeved white shirt. He came right over to stand by Vince, who couldn't stop himself from reaching out and taking Colby's hand. Now that he could touch him in front of people, Vince wanted to do it all the time.

"Thank you for making my brother so happy," Colby told Holden.

"He's the one who makes me happy, but…" Holden's gaze darted to Vince. "I could say the same to you."

"He's the one who makes me happy," Vince said, same as Holden had.

"Hey, that's not fair," Colby said. "Can we somehow redo this so I get that line?"

There was another round of laughter, and Vince kissed Colby. "Okay. I'm going to go take my spot. Let's do this."

Holden nodded at Vince, and Vince left the room. The wedding was taking place under a huge awning that had been brought in, with lights along the top and rustic wooden beams and poles. It wasn't far from the barn, which they'd decorated in similar themes with lights and wood, making it match the decor of the awning.

Everyone had taken their seats as Vince stood at the end of the aisle. A few minutes later, the music started. Wyatt walked down the aisle and went to one side, a moment later Sean walking down to stand at the other. Then everyone rose as Roe and Holden, who had chosen to walk out together, began making their way toward them, both handsome and radiating happiness.

Vince smiled at them, heart and chest full, as the audience sat down and he began the ceremony.

Every once in a while, he couldn't stop his gaze from finding Colby's in the front row, not because he needed or wanted this, but because he fucking loved him and wanted to share this moment with him too.

"I now pronounce you husbands. Do your kissy stuff now," Vince said playfully, earning chuckles from their family and friends.

Holden grabbed Roe's face, held it in his hands, then pressed their lips together.

"I'm fucking married!" Holden shouted as soon as the kiss was over, Roe laughing and everyone else rising to their feet again, cheering for the happy couple.

Vince found himself looking at Colby again. " I love you, " he mouthed.

" I love you too, " Colby returned.

It was hands down the most fun wedding Vince had ever been to. They'd been right—most of the town was there, everyone wanting to celebrate with Roe and Holden.

Vince got to dance with his boyfriend a lot, which was an incredible feeling. They were finishing their last dance when he saw a woman approach.

"Lulu…hey," Colby said. "How are you?"

"Good." She nodded, then held her hand out to Vince. "I'm Lulu. I've seen you around town, but we've never been introduced."

He shook her hand, hoping like hell she didn't give Colby a hard time. "Vince. It's nice to meet you."

She smiled, then looked at Colby. "I'm happy for you," she said, and Vince felt like he could breathe. "We weren't meant to be. I'm happy now, but I've always just wanted you to be happy too. It seems like you have that, and I hope there are never any hard feeling between us."

"Jesus, Lulu. Never. Thank you." Colby pulled Lulu into a hug. Was everyone in Harmony nice or what? Vince had never seen anything like it.

"You have good taste in guys." She smiled as they pulled away, and Vince could see why Colby had liked her so much, even if he hadn't been able to love her.

"He's the best," Colby said.

They talked for a little while before going their separate ways. Vince saw Roe dancing with his mom and Holden with Evie from Mama Adaline's. The two of them were close friends.

At one point, when Holden and Roe came over, Roe said, "Sure wish we could have made it work to have a keg of your beer here." Roe had asked about it, but there hadn't been enough time for Colby to get it done. Plus, he was nervous about making that much for an occasion like this until he had more experience.

"Next time," Colby said.

"Not sure how many times you think I plan on getting married. I waited this long to get it right." Roe winked.

"I meant for your birthday or something. Geez."

Roe squeezed his brother's shoulder. "You know you didn't have to put off the California trip until November, right?"

No, they hadn't, but he and Colby had talked, and they both wanted to get through apple season. Charles was still recovering, and though Colby had hoped for years for some freedom from Covington Acres, he'd told Vince how much he still cared about the apples and enjoyed that part of it. His family meant too much to him to leave them high and dry, and Vince had agreed.

"I know. It works better this way. We'd be stressed the whole time we were there. Plus, it will be nice to have nice weather in November."

"Let's also not pretend you're not looking forward to taking some of the apples to make your beer."

"Shh!" Colby said playfully.

"I like that," Roe said. "Beer from Covington Acres apples. It's perfect."

Yeah, it was perfect. This farm, this town, these people, they were all the best Vince had ever known. He was happier than he'd ever been.
