Chapter 13

Grace

-Meant to be- Florida Georgia Line, Bebe Rexha-

I can feel my wolf pacing within me, its energy thrumming beneath my skin, urging me forward as I share my vision with Lorcan. “It will be stronger when you claim him. Easier.” My wolf tells me.

“I know,” I murmur.

The gravel crunches beneath our feet as we approach the guest house, its rustic charm a backdrop to the intensity building between us. Barrett’s nod acknowledges our presence, but my focus is solely on Lorcan as I guide him inside.

“We’re in the guest house,” I whisper, my voice barely audible over the pounding of my heart.

“I know.” His response is a husky breath, laden with anticipation. His scent shifts and I can almost taste his desire on the air.

In the dim light of the bedroom, I watch as Lorcan’s hands move with purpose, deftly unbuttoning his shirt. Each button released sends a jolt of electricity through the air, his skin revealed inch by tantalizing inch. The fiery red curls on his chest catch the soft glow, a beacon drawing me closer.

My desire ignites, a primal hunger mirrored in the depths of his gaze. With each garment shed, the tension between us thickens until the air crackles with anticipation.

I shed my clothing, each piece hitting the floor with a soft thud, echoing in the room. He cocks his head, his focus sharpening at the sound, attuned to every movement. The air is heavy with anticipation, thick with desire, and I can practically taste it mingling with the scent of our arousal.

As Lorcan listens, his nostrils flare, catching the scent of our need swirling around us. His voice rumbles low, a primal growl vibrating through the air as he sheds the last remnants of fabric from his body, his movements primal and urgent.

My gaze widens as I drink in the sight before me, the transformation from clothed to bare revealing a body sculpted by years of labor. Whirls of russet hair cascade over his chest, framing the defined muscles beneath. The soft contours of his abdomen draw my eyes downward, tracing the lines of his body to the tempting V that leads to his endowment.

His large shaft stands at attention, thick veins wrap around silken steel. His husky voice draws me closer, and my hands instinctively find their place on his hips, grounding me in the moment.

“Lass? I can hear you breathing. Say something?” His voice is a whisper, yet it reverberates through me, pulling me deeper into the intimacy of the moment.

“You are beautiful. And I am a very lucky female,” I murmur, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. Though he can’t see it, I hope he can feel the warmth of my affection. Gently, I guide his hands to my face, letting him feel my happiness radiating through every touch.

My fingertips glide over his warm skin, tracing the contours of his muscles as his breath hitches in response. The weight of his desire presses against me, palpable in the air. His moan, raw and needy, ignites a fire within me, urging me to draw him closer.

“Lass... You’re killing me,” he murmurs against my lips, his words a plea and a confession intertwined. His kiss, soft yet urgent, sends shivers down my spine, igniting a hunger that demands to be sated.

I guide him to the bed, feeling the tension in his muscles as realization dawns upon him. A primal sound rumbles from deep within his chest, a warning and a promise of the passion to come.

With a fierce determination, I pull him closer until the edge of the bed meets the warmth of his leg, inviting him into the depths of our shared desire. His response is immediate, a growl vibrating through his being, a testament to the wildness simmering beneath his surface.

Lorcan’s touch trails along my ribs, a sensation both tender and possessive, as he lifts me effortlessly and lays me down on the sheets. His blind eyes, milky and yet somehow seeing, search my form with an intensity that leaves me breathless.

“I can see outlines, but not color or features, lass,” he whispers, his voice a mixture of longing and resignation. As he inches closer, his eyes hold a faint echo of his wolf, a reminder of the primal instincts driving him forward. With each movement, his transformation becomes more evident, his canines elongating as the beast within him takes control.

The weight of his body upon me settles like a heavy blanket, cocooning me in a mix of anticipation and desire. I tilt my head back, feeling the rasp of his stubble against my skin as my lips trace a path from his jaw to his throat, each touch igniting a fire within me. And then, as my teeth graze his throat, he surges forward, a primal need driving him to claim me fully.

A gasp escapes me as he enters me, his size stretching me in a way that’s both exhilarating and overwhelming. Lorcan moves with a deliberate slowness, each thrust a symphony of sensation that courses through my veins like electricity. “Claim him,” my wolf urges, her voice resonating deep within my soul, urging me to mark this connection.

His face nestles against my shoulder, his breath hot against my skin as I maneuver, guiding him to an unclaimed spot on my body. With a silent understanding, he sinks his canines into my flesh, a mingling of pleasure and pain that binds us further.

My wolf howls deep in my mind, singing her song to her new mate. “Bite him.” My wolf mentally nuzzles me towards his shoulder.

But then, a thought intrudes, a realization amidst the haze of pleasure. He doesn’t have a knot. Questions flood my mind, a hunger for understanding the nuances of wolven males and their abilities. Yet, even as my thoughts wander, the warmth in my core intensifies, my body responding to his touch with an instinctual rhythm.

My hips meet his in a dance as old as time, his teeth still holding me in place as ecstasy builds within me. And in that moment, as I surrender to the pleasure coursing through me. Throwing my head back, I howl before lunging forward and sinking my teeth into his flesh.

The moment my teeth puncture his skin, I feel a rush of sensation flood through me, mixing with the metallic taste of his blood that fills my mouth. As I bite down, my wolf, usually restless and eager, finally quiets within me. It’s a strange sensation, like a storm suddenly giving way to a calm, serene silence. It’s the first time since her creation that she’s laid still, allowing me to feel nothing but the warmth of our connection.

With careful precision, I retract my canines from his shoulder, and the frenzied passion between us ebbs. Lorcan enfolds me in his embrace, drawing me close to his chest as we shift onto our sides. He cradles me tenderly, curling around me like a protective shield. I nestle my head against his shoulder, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my cheek.

Lorcan’s lips meet my forehead in a gentle kiss, and I watch in awe as a serene smile graces his features, his milky white eyes closed in contentment. At that moment, I’m struck by the sheer beauty of this man. This gentle giant who holds me with such care, as though I’m the most precious treasure in the world.

My fingers lift, tracing the contours of his russet eyebrows, my gaze lingering on him with adoration. The presence of my wolf, usually a restless force urging me towards violence, is now still and quiet within me. It’s a relief, a newfound sense of peace that I hadn’t known was possible.

“What’s on your mind, lass?” Lorcan murmurs, pressing another tender kiss to my forehead.

“My wolf,” I reply softly, pulling back slightly to share my vision with him. He sees himself through my eyes, and I can sense his understanding.

“She’s whole now. A Luna without her mate is driven to madness. Somehow, she needed me,” He explains, my voice barely above a whisper.

Lorcan’s smile widens, his eyes still closed in blissful contentment. “And I needed her, just as much,” he murmurs, his words a gentle affirmation of our bond.

“It’s fascinating,” Lorcan murmurs, his eyes bright with wonder as his smile widens, revealing the depth of his connection to the bond. “I can feel the presence of the children, their laughter echoing through the link. And the packs... it’s like a vast network, thousands of wolves intertwined with you for eternity.” His breath catches with a mixture of awe and admiration.

I nod slowly, my voice barely above a whisper, infused with a sense of tranquility born from months of mastering the complexities of the bond. “You learn to adapt over time. Gradually, you find a way to shield yourself from the constant flood of sensations.”

My fingertips trace a gentle path down Lorcan’s jaw, feeling the roughness of his beard beneath my touch, before coming to rest on his chest, a silent reassurance of our connection. “I keep the pathways to my mates and children open,” I explain softly. “But for the others, I’ve learned to dampen their presence, to keep them at a distance so they don’t overwhelm me.”

Lorcan’s fingers weave through my hair, their slow movements a comforting gesture that soothes the edges of my soul. “Yet you wield this power with such ease,” he observes, a hint of curiosity lacing his words. “Unlike the Lunas of the past, you seem unburdened by the weight of it all.”

A wistful smile tugs at my lips as I reflect on my journey, the memories of my human life mingling with the realities of my newfound existence. “I never wanted it.” I lament. “I was human once. Battle born and resurrected as a lunar wolf because of Ethan’s love for me.” I smile softly, thinking about how much Ethan loves me. How his love saved me from the clutches of death. My wolf was his gift, a shard of himself to carry with me for eternity.

“The guys have filled me in on your creation. It’s a rare thing for a human to make it through the turning. Most lose their minds and end up being euthanized within weeks.” His touch on my cheeks is gentle, a comfort amidst the weight of the knowledge he’s shared.

“I suppose I’ve got luck on my side then,” I murmur, letting out a heavy sigh as I nestle closer, finding solace in the embrace of his sturdy chest.

“Luck doesn’t even begin to cover it,” he whispers against my lips, planting a tender kiss there.

“If I died, the Murphy alphas would have died.” I whisper, my fingers tracing patterns in the curls of hair on his chest.

“Only the ones bonded to you,” Lorcan replies, a sadness coloring his words, prompting a sympathetic sigh from me.

The thought of losing a mate feels like a gaping wound in my chest, raw and bleeding. It’s as if a part of my soul has been torn away, leaving me hollow and fragile. I can almost see the memories of our time together, vivid flashes of laughter and warmth, dancing in front of my eyes like ghosts.

But I refuse to let the fear of loss consume me entirely. Even as grief threatens to drown me, I cling to the flickering flame of determination within. I won’t succumb to despair, not while there’s still breath in my lungs and fight in my heart. I’ll carry on, for myself and for them, for the bond that binds us together even in death.

Yet, the burden of potential loss weighs heavily on my shoulders, a crushing weight that threatens to overwhelm me. The thought of my own death sends shivers down my spine, not just because of the finality of it, but because of the ripple effect it would have on those I hold dear.

The image of four alphas, a beta, and an omega falling alongside me is chilling, a grim reminder of the stakes we face. With a rogue elder and a half-crazed ex-lover on the loose, danger lurks around every corner, waiting to strike when we least expect it.

“I know the histories of our kind. We will train you to use your Luna gifts. I will not let you be defenseless anymore.” Lorcan’s promise echoes in my ears like a lifeline, a vow to protect and empower me in the face of adversity. His words offer a semblance of reassurance, a reminder that I am not alone in this struggle.

And then there’s Selune, the moon goddess, watching over us with her serene gaze. Her blessing fills me with a sense of purpose, a belief that there is still hope for a brighter future. With her guidance, I know I can find the strength to face whatever challenges lie ahead, to embrace my Luna gifts and stand tall against the darkness.

So, with determination burning bright within me, I steel myself for the battles to come. I may be battered and bruised, but I refuse to be broken. For I am a warrior, a protector, a guardian of my pack and my mates. And together, we will face whatever the future may hold, united in our strength and our love.
