Epilogue

MINA

Voices came from Reuben's library.

I knew they were here, and why, but knowing that and stepping into the room, were two different things. I'd waited so long for this, but now I was paralysed.

I could let Asher go on living in his happy bubble, without ever seeing me. The selfless part of me wanted to do that. The realistic part of me knew he'd find out about me sooner or later. The longer I waited, the more hurt he'd be, knowing I was here all along.

I stopped outside the library door to listen to him and Zeke talking to Reuben. They'd brought their girlfriend, Abbie. Them and the twins were discussing something that took place at the end of Wolf Venom's world tour.

I knew the details, but was more interested in listening to my brother's voice than what they were talking about.

The twins were currently defending themselves to Zeke. I liked Zeke, but I couldn't help bristling slightly at his accusing tone. The twins could take care of themselves though, so there was no need for me to stab Reuben's rock star brother. If Reuben wanted him stabbed, he could have the twins do it.

I placed a hand on my swollen belly and held my breath.

At a break in the conversation, I took a few heavier steps forward, so everyone in the room would know I was there.

"You can come in," Reuben called out to me.

The nerves almost got the better of me, but I forced myself to step inside.

Asher's eyes widened the moment he saw me. He pushed himself out of his chair and gaped. His gaze slid to my pregnant belly. The first thing out of his mouth was, "Whose baby is that?"

I swallowed hard and tried to conjure the words. When they wouldn't come, it was Reuben who filled the heavy silence.

"Mine," he said. "And Gianni's, and Damon's.

Asher blinked a couple of times before putting his arms around me and giving me a careful hug. "I missed you. I'm super confused right now, but I missed you."

I hugged him back and laughed softly. "I missed you too."

I hugged Zeke when he also rose to embrace me. I smiled at Abbie, who was looking at me and Reuben like she was wondering what I saw in him.

I tried not to bristle at that too, but I knew Reuben hadn't made their lives easier for the last little while. Hopefully we could start to change that today.

I sat down beside Reuben, my hand on his. "It's a long story." I took a deep breath and started.

"Six years ago…"
