Chapter 51
36 weeks pregnant
S ully has been throwing slapshots into the basement hockey net while I finish ordering the last of the items we need. As soon as I submit the last order of diapers, his phone rings, and he spins in a circle on his skates while pulling his phone from his pocket.
"Hey Nick."
That's his lawyer. We've been waiting for a call back.
I slowly close the laptop and sit on the edge of my chair as I listen. The inflection of Sully's voice gives nothing away. I wait patiently, but I'm dying to know what Nick is saying.
He chuckles . That's a good sign, right? Then his face sobers. "Yeah, I understand." Shit, maybe not?
"Okay, yeah, send it over and I'll take a look." I swallow and stand up. "Yup… Thanks, Nick."
He ends the call and stuffs the phone in his pocket. I place my hands over my cheeks while I wait for him to say something.
"They wanna do it."
I jump. "Ohmigod! Are you serious?!" I squeal loud enough for the movers upstairs to hear me. He smiles big. "You got the show, baby. He's submitting contracts now."
He steps off the ice and wraps me in his arms. "You're about to be very busy."
"Holy shit!" I giggle. "Sully, I don't know how to ever thank you for doing this."
"I can think of several ways."
