Chapter Seventy-Five

Lana

P ete smiles at us as we step out into the hallway. He leans in close as I lock the door. Brooke wanders over to the reception desk, taking her time, every step making colors appear on her skirt.

“You two look good together,” Pete murmurs. “Just don’t let her bite you above your Alpha’s marks.”

“Thanks,” I tell him, feeling a little nervous again. “I need to speak to Ezra.”

“You’re spending the night with her, aren’t you?” he asks, in a teasing tone.

My cheeks flush. “Maybe.”

“Definitely,” he corrects me. “You can be a little bolder with an Omega. Trust me. They love it.”

“Sounds like good advice,” I admit.

“It’s very good advice.”

He lets out a sigh. “I’ll miss you tonight.”

“I’ll miss you, too, but we’ll make up for it.”

“Oh, you bet we will.” He squeezes my ass, making me gasp. “I dressed you up sexy this morning, so if she likes it, you should definitely make it up to me.”

If I wasn’t already feeling horny as fuck, I would be now.

My pussy feels wet, and my body is charged up and ready for anything.

I glance over at Brooke who’s flirting with Kellan at the side of the front desk.

He has her hand on her ass, under her skirt.

I’m so damn grateful he’s so open to sharing.

Pete, too.

All of my mates. All of hers.

We walk over there.

Kellan disentangles himself and gets up to his feet. “Okay, so I need a room for the night.”

“We have a spare one in our suite,” Pete says. “Is there security in the hallway where your room is, Brooke?”

She nods. “I’m near Teri and there’s been a guard walking back and forth all night.”

“If we’re locked up in Brooke’s room, we’ll be fine,” I add.

Pete isn’t totally convinced.

I guess we still don’t know who that ninth person is on Warren Corvina’s list.

It could be anyone.

“If it’s someone with a two-syllable name, we’ll figure something out,” I suggest.

Pete nods slowly. “Okay. Sure. Let’s go see Ezra. Then you girls can get going.”

“We’ll wait out here,” Brooke says.

I walk with Pete to the medical wing, and we find Ezra in the staff room, washing his coffee cup.

“There you are,” he says. “I was just waiting for you to get finished.”

“Yeah, so much for not working late, right?” I ask him.

“True. At least our patient in room nine seems to be a lot calmer tonight. And she finally has a name. That Zeta really knew what he was doing.” He shakes his head. “Never seen anything like it.”

“Us neither,” Pete admits. “He knocked it out of the park with the brainwashed Omegas.”

“It must be tough. Having an ability like that. He could help so many people, but he risks someone spilling his secret every time.”

Clearly, Ezra was even more affected by Rob’s abilities than we were. He still seems completely in awe of the guy. It was remarkable, for sure. I guess I’m just a little more interested in claiming Brooke now that I know we’re fated, and I don’t have one single reason for not being with her.

“Lana needs to ask her lead Alpha a question,” Pete says, when I’m quiet for a minute.

Ezra puts the mug down and wipes his hands with the towel.

“Of course. What did you need to ask?”

I look at him, and I know he’s going to say yes.

He’s well and truly meant for me.

“Brooke is my true mate. I know we both have our own packs and we’re not looking to merge them or anything, but we’ve always had our own connection. I want her in my life, and she wants me in hers.”

“I’m glad to hear it,” he says. “I know you weren’t sure what to do for a while.”

“So, you’re good with this?” I ask, needing it confirmed.

He smiles. “I am. I’m guessing you’re staying with her tonight?”

“We’d like to claim each other. I’m not sure how long she can stay so …”

“Stay with her. We’ll see you tomorrow.”

“And every other day,” Pete adds, reminding me they’re going nowhere.

I hug Ezra, and then Pete.

“Take good care of Shadow and Owen for me,” I tell them.

Pete nods. “I’ll walk you guys to your room. Make sure the guard is good.”

“Anything you need me to do?” Ezra asks.

“You could take Kellan to our suite,” Pete says. “He’s gonna hole up in the spare room for the night. Brooke’s suite doesn’t have an extra room.”

“No problem.”

Ezra follows us back out into the hallway, where Brooke and Kellan are waiting.

We split up, and Brooke takes my hand.

My heart starts to pound faster as we follow Pete up the staircase to the first floor.

It takes me a second to recognize the guard in the corridor when we get to Brooke’s door.

He’s pacing around, covering a corner.

“John, hi,” I greet him.

He raises a hand in a wave. “Evening, Ms. Cole.”

“Make sure you keep a close eye on this door tonight,” Pete tells him. “Don’t let anyone in who isn’t cleared by Lana in advance.”

He looks at me, and I nod.

“Sure, no problem.”

Pete smiles at us. “This is where I leave you.”

“I’ll see you soon,” I promise.

“Don’t worry,” Brooke says. “I’ll take good care of her.”
