Chapter 25

Chapter

Twenty-Five

March 27th

11:02 P.M.

Axle "Axe" Lindon stared at the warehouse just a couple of hours away from the compound.

Was this where Beth had been kept when she'd been taken from him?

So close to home?

Of course, he had known that the likelihood of her being held somewhere close to the compound was likely given that she had escaped on foot and returned home. But this was not quite three hours from home. Those eight long months his wife had been missing she had been within driving distance.

Hell, she'd been within walking distance.

Fury raged inside him. A constant companion in the twenty months since she disappeared. The eight months she'd been gone had been hell on earth, but Axe had kept reminding himself that everything would be okay when Beth came home.

Little did he know that when she did come home, she would have no memory of him, no memory of herself, no memory of the love they had shared.

His wife was a stranger to him. She slept in the spare bedroom in the cabin he'd built for the two of them because she couldn't stand his touch, and could barely stand to be around him at all.

What killed him the most was noticing how little by little she was opening up to the others, the guys on his team and the women they had fallen in love with.

Seemed he was the one Beth wanted to keep her distance from the most.

Axe knew why.

It was because he had failed her.

When his Delta Force team had first rescued her, he had promised her that no one would ever hurt her again. And he had failed. She'd been hurt. Horrifically. So badly her mind had to wipe itself completely blank just to function.

As badly as he hated the distance between them, he knew he deserved it. He had broken Beth's trust in the worst of ways, of course she couldn't stand to be near him.

The only chance he stood of getting his wife back was to destroy every single person who had hurt her.

Starting here.

Starting tonight.

"Move in," he ordered into his comms.

Moving like the well-oiled machine they were, Bravo Team advanced on the building. They had no idea if this place was linked to Beth's abduction but it was a lead, and he didn"t care how slim a lead might be, he was checking out every single one.

Not that they'd had many. A key found on the bottom of the ocean, a survivor of the yacht blast, had led them here and he prayed that there was a reason for it. That answers lay within these four walls.

Circling the warehouse, his team approached from all directions. If anyone was in there they weren"t slipping away into the night. Axe couldn't afford to let this op turn into a bust. He needed answers, Beth needed answers, and he had no intention of failing her again.

All was quiet, no gunshots pierced the night, no bright lights flipped on inside or outside the building, no voice shouted. There was nothing.

Nothing until Axe eased open a door and took a step inside.

Then the world around him exploded.

Picking him up and slamming him back down again.

Blackness descended and he slipped away.

When Beth's memories finally return will it bring her and Axe closer or push them further apart? Find out in the sixth and final book in the action packed and emotionally charged Prey Security: Bravo Team series!
