Chapter Fourteen

Stormy

Should I text Blue? Maybe I should stay out of it, but I couldn’t. Blue had been torn between me and Kiss. Bullet was wrong. How would he feel if I needed him, and he had to choose between me and his obligation to his MC brother?

I chose to believe he’d choose me, because if he needed me, nothing would stop me from getting to him. So, I stayed in the room. I didn’t want to have to explain to the girls where Blue had gone. Then they’d ask about Bullet. I didn’t have it in me to lie nor to face an inquisition from the Hellers. I’d crack under the pressure if Rogue, Blade, Dozer, or Torch asked me any questions.

I could handle Romeo. He was too pretty to be mean.

Thirty minutes passed. I kept waiting for the door to open. Bullet wouldn’t hurt Blue. I mean, of course, he wouldn’t. They were friends.

Voices grew louder from the chapel. The birthday party must be getting rowdier. I curled onto my side, staring at the screen of my phone, willing it to light up with a text or a call .

Banging sounded on my door. “Stormy!”

I lurched up on the bed. “Yes?”

The door flew open, and Rogue filled the space. His mouth held a hard line.

Did they know? Did he somehow figure out Bullet went after Emerson without them? I could feel the pissed radiating off him.

Fear held me frozen. I couldn’t speak with the pounding of my heart in my throat. I stared at him, unmoving as seconds ticked by.

“Boardroom. Now,” he said.

“What’s wrong?”

“Come on.” He crossed the room, grabbed my arm, and helped me from the bed. Veins roped his muscular forearms, yet his touch was gentle. “We don’t have much time.”

Towering over me, he kept a hand on my shoulder and propelled me through the chapel toward the boardroom. The tension in his body felt like a knife cutting into mine. Pain seared into my chest. Something was wrong, and it involved me.

Trust my instincts.

Since neither Bullet or Blue were here, and Rogue was emitting a dangerous badass biker aura, I knew it wasn’t about Emerson.

In the chapel, someone had cut off the music. Everyone stared at me as I crossed the room with Rogue.

Whispers followed me, cracking into my armor, revealing my insecurity. I needed Bullet.

“What happened?” I asked .

“I guess we have the same question.” Rogue’s voice grated over me, sending a frisson of impending dread into every part of me.

Inside the boardroom, Blade and Torch huddled with Dozer and Romeo.

“Willow is on her way,” Romeo said.

Rogue nodded. “We’ll put him in Kodiak’s room.”

Willow was an emergency room nurse. Someone was hurt. Rogue had said him. Put who? Bullet or Blue? It had to be one of them.

“What happened? Who’s hurt?” I couldn’t breathe if I thought of Bullet hurt, but if not Bullet, then Blue needed Willow. Had Bullet gone after Blue? Tears filled my eyes. I hated this. I hated that either way, it was my fault. I told Blue to go to Kiss. “Who’s hurt?”

Blade turned to me. “Blue.” He inhaled hard, flaring his nostrils. “I figure we have five fucking minutes to make a plan.”

“Less than five,” Rogue fired back. “We should go now.”

“Not until I know what we’re riding into.” Blade turned to me. “What the fuck happened tonight?”

Panic laced adrenaline fired through me. My hands trembled, and I struggled to catch my breath. “What happened to Blue?”

“We don’t know yet.” Rogue pulled out a chair and pushed me into it. “Keep it together. We need information. ”

He sat in the chair next to me. “I need you to trust me. I’m sure that asshole told you to keep your mouth shut. You gotta tell us. What did Bullet have planned for tonight?”

I nodded but my guts were in knots. I felt like I was betraying Bullet but somehow Blue had gotten hurt. I couldn’t believe Bullet would hurt him, so something else must have happened. “He…ah…he went after Emerson.”

“We need the abridged version, Stormy.” Dozer leaned against the wall. “We’re out of time.”

“Vega and Kodiak are helping him.” I told them everything they’d planned. “Bullet and Kodiak were going to take Emerson at the penthouse.”

“Then what the fuck was Bullet doing at Indulgence with Barras?”

“What? No. No.” Fear clawed up my throat. “Barras wasn’t at Indulgence. Blue was.” I shook my head. Bullet had gone to help Blue with Kiss. “Bullet went there for Blue.”

“Why the fuck is Blue mixed up in this shit?” Dozer asked.

“He’s not. Bullet is pissed because Blue was supposed to be here with me, but Kiss sent him a text and said she was in trouble.” My face heated as I fought against the tears filling my eyes. “I told him to go.”

Romeo raked his hands through his hair. “What the fuck is Blue doing with Kiss?”

“Wait.” Rogue lunged to his feet. “Some things are adding up. Vega is with Kiss and Blue. Bullet must have walked into a setup. Barras was waiting. ”

“Willow will patch Blue up,” Blade said. “We’ll get more answers once he’s here.”

Rogue slammed his fist into the wall. “We need to go. Bullet is the only one with answers.”

I jumped. Tears spilled onto my cheeks. “Where is Bullet?”

But I didn’t need to ask. The tension in the room suffocated. Blood roared through my head. Blade’s lips were moving, but the words hung between us.

“Barras has him,” Rogue said. “Kodiak is following them.”

Romeo sat in the chair Rogue vacated. “Don’t worry, sunshine. As soon as Blue and Kiss get here, we’re going after him.”

“We should go now,” Rogue said. “With every minute we wait, they put more distance between us and Bullet.”

The door flew open. “Willow is here.” Jazzy’s clipped words had everyone’s attention. “And Vega just came through the gate.”

“Fuck. Finally.” Rogue stormed out of the room.

Blade gripped Dozer’s shoulder. “Get Torch. We’re going to need weapons from the locker. Stay in contact with Kodiak. Do we know where they’re headed?”

“Not yet,” Dozer said.

The guys ran out of the MC. I stood in the middle of the chapel, unsure of what to do and feeling responsible…because I was .

“Move,” Blade hollered to someone in his way. He carried a young blonde girl, about my age, in his arms. Her hands were crusted with blood.

“Put me down.” She struggled to get out of his arms. “I don’t need to be carried.”

“Kiss, I swear to God.” Blade set her on her feet.

“Don’t say shit to me, Blade. I just need Blue.” She spun toward the door as Vega and Romeo angled through the doorway. Each had an arm around Blue. He could barely stand, but he was conscious.

“Willow, he’s hurt,” Romeo said.

“Vega,” Rogue hollered. “You’ve been following Barras. Any idea where they’d take him?”

“Industrial park, east side.”

Kiss wiped tears from her eyes. “This is my fault.”

No, this wasn’t her fault. It was mine.

Willow breezed past me and approached Romeo. “Put him in Kodiak’s room. My bag is set up. But listen, if this is an open brain injury, he’s going to the hospital by ambulance.” She wrapped her arm around Kiss. “I missed you, sweetheart. Come with me.”

“Help him,” she pleaded. She stumbled in her steps and stared at Levi, then at her baby bump as they hurried to the back rooms.

“What happened?” Levi asked me.

“It’s my fault. My ex hurt Blue and Kiss in order to get to me. And now he has Bullet.” Tears soaked my face. “I did this. I brought all this shit back to the MC. ”

Trust my instincts. When Mars found me at the Landing Strip, those instincts had told me to run. I should’ve listened.

“Bullet never would’ve found me. Blade wouldn’t be telling Dozer to get weapons. Levi, what if Romeo rides with them?” On instinct, my hand went to her belly.

Levi grabbed my arm and hauled me to her room. Once the door closed, she spun toward me. “You need to listen to me, Stormy. You didn’t bring anything back to the MC.” She hitched her thumb over her shoulder. “That right there, that’s life with the Heller Raiders. My mom has been stitching up bikers longer than I’ve been alive. Everyone out there carries a fucking gun. Ride or die for family. You’re one of us now.”

She growled and grabbed her belly.

“I have to pee.” She rushed into the bathroom but left the door open as she continued to chew my ass. “Do you care about Bullet?” Her voice echoed in the bathroom.

“I do.” I sat on the edge of her bed, and my gaze tracked the perimeter of the room.

I cared about all of them. Since coming to the MC, I’d changed. Even with a gun on the nightstand next to a tin of weed, I wasn’t scared. Levi was right. This was life in the MC.

And this girl was everything I wished I could be. Fiercely protective, yet so open and accepting. She had a few baby things on the dresser.

A small shelf held perfume, lotions, and pictures of her and Romeo. One picture was of them as kids. Another picture was a group of kids sitting on what looked to be their dad’s bikes. Romeo’s joker smile was easy to place. I’d guess it was a young Rogue and Bullet standing next to the bike.

Levi continued chatting from the bathroom. “Then you have to accept these guys the way they are.”

I did accept Bullet for who he was. The guns, the girls, the bikes and brotherhood. But I couldn’t accept what Emerson would do to him to get to me.

The toilet flushed, and the water ran. “Our guys can’t fight if they’re worried about us.” Levi came back into the room. “I know you’re scared.” She forced a smile, but I could see the tremble in her lips. “Because of what they did to Blue, and because Kiss is somehow involved, I know Romeo will want to ride with them.” She rested a hand on her belly. “I’m scared, too.”

“I’m sorry,” I whispered and pulled her into my arms.

“It’s not your fault. Romeo said this is all unfinished club business. Let them finish it.”

After a moment’s hesitation, I nodded.

“Stormy, he’s called Bullet for a reason.”

“I know.” Because he was good at killing, but so were the men with Emerson. Bullet wouldn’t be able to get out of this one, and the Hellers would be too late.

“Come on.” Levi started for the door. “We need to be the last thing the Hellers see when they ride out.”

“Can you give me a minute? I need to use the restroom. ”

“Don’t take too long. They’re ready to go.” She slipped out the door. I waited ten seconds, then I grabbed Levi’s gun off the dresser, her keys off a hook by the door, and my phone.

Slipping out of the room, I hurried down the hall, out the side entrance, and scurried across the parking lot. My heart pounded as I unlocked the car door, sat behind the wheel, and turned the ignition.

Ignoring the Hellers outside at the oil drum, I entered the code at the gate and drove out of the MC.

Four months ago, I’d run from the industrial park. My life could’ve ended there, but an intimidating man wearing a cut and reeking of mayhem saved me. Now, it was my turn to save him.

My hands trembled as I held the steering wheel. I was officially a criminal just like my boyfriend. Tonight, I’d committed grand larceny, a stolen handgun, and I prayed Emerson gave me the opportunity to kill him before he killed me.

But the only way I’d get the chance was if I could get to Bullet first. Holding the steering wheel with one hand, I dialed a number I tried for four months to forget with my other.

The first ring had my throat thickening with fear, the second had chills crawling over my flesh, and when he answered, his voice had ice running through my veins.

“It’s me,” I said because he’d recognize my voice.

“Madison.” The condescending way he said my name once had the power to take me to my knees. I was stronger now. I had to be .

I swallowed, barely able to push the words from my mouth. “Don’t hurt him.”

“It’s a little too late for that.”

No, he was lying. Killing Bullet would be too easy, not when he could make me suffer.

“We both know it’s not. You wouldn’t kill him.” Not when this was what he wanted. Me groveling back, begging him to spare Bullet and sacrificing myself. Then he’d kill Bullet in front of me as a lesson, to show me he had all the power, to punish me for my betrayal.

“You didn’t ask if he was dead. You asked if I’d hurt him.” He sighed as if exasperated with the conversation.

He had me on speaker phone. I listened to the background noises and the hollow echo of his words. Others would be in the room. Maybe Bullet could hear me. Maybe knowing I was coming would give him the strength to hold on.

“I’m sorry.” Tears filled my eyes. I could do this, but I had to make Emerson believe me. So I whispered to Emerson, the thoughts and feelings that I should have said to Bullet when I had the chance.

“I regret so much,” I started. And I did. I regretted not telling Bullet that I loved him. I regretted that I wouldn’t be able to touch him again, to kiss him once more, and to ride on the back of his bike.

This was my truth, because I’d never been a good liar. Picturing Bullet in my mind, his tattoos and piercings. The storm of passion in his gray eyes, the angle of his jaw, and the way his whiskers felt against my skin. Emerson would hear my words, but my heart belonged to Bullet .

“You scared me,” I said. Emerson terrified me. But Bullet did, too. He scared me because from the moment he stared into my eyes, I’d been lost without him. Bullet found me, and he awakened the part of me Emerson had tried to destroy.

He’d changed for me. But I’d changed because of him.

“What am I supposed to do when the man I love has two sides to him? I wrestled with how you could claim to want me, and then have other women in your life. But when you touched me, I knew I belonged to you.”

If Bullet could hear me, I hoped he knew my confession was for him.

“Then why did you leave?” Emerson’s voice broke the spell.

I wanted to confess my heart to Bullet. I had to remember this was to save his life.

“It killed me to leave you. I wanted the life we were supposed to have.”

The life in the little, old house, with trees, and quietness. The place where we shared secrets, and where I finally felt safe. The place where I fell in love.

But I wouldn’t have my fairytale with Bullet. I’d live in hell with the monster from my nightmares.

I thought of Bullet, the way he touched me, the way he made me feel, and how much he was willing to give up for me. “I wanted you to be my forever.”

“You were supposed to stay with me.” His voice grew louder. “After everything I’ve done for you, for us, I expected a bit of loyalty. ”

“I am loyal. I used him.” The words were like acid in my mouth, burning my tongue with lies.

“Then you shouldn’t care what happens to him.”

“But I do, just like I cared what happened to those girls.” I choked on the vile words tattooed on my tongue. “But I care about you more.”

“I expect you to prove just how loyal you are.”

He sent the address to my phone. I’d been to the location before, on a night that changed my life.

“I was always loyal. I could accept a lot from you, including your wife and your infidelity. I could’ve gone to the police, Emerson. But I didn’t.”

“Forgive me if I find your altruism to be self-serving,” he said. “You’ve enjoyed the benefits of my business.”

A flare of anger surged through me. Anger at myself, because there was partial truth in his statement. My choices were self-serving, but to my detriment. I’d been nothing more than a possession to him.

I couldn’t trust Emerson. Given the chance to hurt me more, he’d torture Bullet.

I could do this though. Levi’s gun rested on the passenger seat. I’d never fired a gun before, but I’d seen it done in the movies. All I had to do was aim and pull the trigger.

“I’ll be there soon,” I said, and disconnected.

With each mile that passed, darkness weighed heavier inside me. I was going to lose Bullet tonight.

A primal, gut-wrenching wail clawed its way out of me. A flood of tears coursed down my face and dripped from my chin .

“Fuck.” I screamed in the car. “I hate you.” I fisted my hand. A reckless tumble of thoughts collided in my mind. With the slightest movement, I could careen headfirst into the guardrail, drive off the road, and finally just end this pain ripping me apart. “Fuck!”

Inside, I was already dying because I couldn’t live without him.

Once I entered the industrial park, I slowed as I drove the perimeter. At this time of night, most of the vehicles were clustered around manufacturing buildings. Streetlamps, about a hundred yards apart, left darkened corners and creepy side streets. A block away from the building, I released a shaky exhale and parked along the adjacent building in the shadows.

I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand and dried the tears from my face.

Grabbing the gun but leaving the keys in the ignition, I exited the vehicle. If I could get Bullet out, and the if was monumental, we’d need to be ready to run. Holy fuck. My heart raced and sweat trickled along my spine. I’d never had this much adrenaline firing through me, and I’d been in some fucked up situations.

I tried to stuff the gun in my pocket. I didn’t even know if it had bullets, but knowing Hellers, I assumed it was loaded. Fitting it into my pocket didn’t work. I twisted, attempting to shove it into the back of my shorts, then opted for stuffing it into the front.

I shifted, adjusted my posture, and took a few steps to see if I could hide the bulge beneath my shirt .

A body stepped from the shadows. Before I could scream, he tightened his arm around me from behind and clapped a hand over my mouth.

“What the fuck are you doing here?”

I gripped Kodiak’s forearm and pulled his hand from my face. “Emerson has Bullet.”

“No shit. What the fuck are you doing here?” As his arm fell away, he brushed against the gun. He lifted my shirt.

I spun away from him, tugged down my shirt, and took two steps. “You can’t stop me. They’re hurting him because of me.”

Kodiak grabbed onto my arm. “That’s my brother in there. No way does he want you anywhere near Barras. We wait for Rogue and the others.”

“They’ll be too late.” I pulled the gun from my shorts. A thousand stinging wasps droned inside me. I fought the anxiety and lifted the gun. “Don’t try to stop me. Kodiak, he’s going to kill him anyway. Maybe I can give the others time to get here. Emerson knows I’m here. I have to go.”

“Jesus Christ.” He snatched the gun from my hand. “You don’t have a fucking clue what to do with this.” His fingers slid over the metal. “You have to release the safety.” He checked the slide, slammed it back into the gun, then lifted his arm and aimed. “It’s ready. Walk in with the gun in your hand.”

“Emerson will see it.”

“Yeah, and it’ll make him think twice before putting his hands on you. Trust me. You won’t make it five steps inside without being searched. Anyone approaches, pull the fucking trigger. I’ll find a back way in. We just need a few minutes. ”

I nodded. Holding the gun, I rushed to the front door. Kodiak stayed in the shadows and moved to the rear of the building.

As soon as I stepped into the light from the overhead lamp, Mars threw open one of the receiving bay doors. As I climbed the metal steps to the loading dock, his gaze roamed down my body, lingered on the gun, and a smile curled his lips. “What do you think you’re going to do with that?”

“Stay out of my way, or you’ll find out.” I gripped the handle of the gun but kept my finger off the trigger. “Where is Emerson?”

Mars chuckled and stepped back. “Waiting for you and your friends.”

“I’ll follow you.” I held the gun, hopefully looking more confident than I felt. I trembled from my fingertips to the unsteady thump of my heart.

We passed through a barren area of the warehouse, circled around crates, and moved deeper into the heart of the building.

Several men surrounded Barras. One man leaned against the wall and smoked a cigarette. Torture devices lined a long table. Pliers, rope, and power tools. Blood splatter peppered the tarps covering the floor.

I gasped, pain knifing through my chest. A wave of emotions nearly took me to my knees.

Bullet lay crumbled on the floor. He was motionless. Blood smeared across the side of his face and soaked the front of his brutally beaten chest. Blood oozed from where they’d ripped the piercing from his nipple. His cut had been stripped from his body. One of Emerson’s men wiped blood from his knuckles with the leather.

Bile welled in my throat. I swallowed hard, but the rancid taste of terror lingered. “What have you done?”

“Where is that loyalty you spoke of? Your first concern is for your lover.”

“This wasn’t about him.” I tried to keep my attention on the men in the room, but I was desperate to see movement from Bullet. A slight lifting of his torso with a breath, a twitch from hearing my voice, even a moan to know that he was still with me—that we were fighting together.

“No, this is about you. You did this. You made me come after you.” With a sneer on his lips, he took a step toward me. “Four months, and I barely recognize you.”

“I’m not the same person.” Because Bullet had made me brave, even when terrified to the core.

“Pity. The girl I remember was perfect.”

“But that’s the problem. You destroyed the young girl with dreams and ambition. Now, I’m a woman, and I won’t be so easily manipulated.”

“You’re his whore. Mars found you in a fucking strip club, spreading your legs for money.”

“I’ve done worse. I spread my legs for you,” I cried. “I gave up everything for you.”

“You gave up nothing. I saved you.”

“From what? The same life you give to those girls? What was different about me? Don’t tell me it was love because we both know you killed any love that could’ve been between us.”

“You were beautiful, talented, and innocent. ”

“Not anymore.”

He clenched his jaw, and veins pulsed in his temple. “You are still mine.”

“No. Not anymore.”

“You belong to me,” he roared. “I’ll break every bone in his hand for defiling you. Before I’m finished with him, he’ll regret ever knowing your name.”

“You are finished.” I lifted the gun.

Emerson laughed. “I’m just getting started.” He grabbed a weapon from the table and pointed it at Bullet. “Give me your gun. Now, Madison. Or I’ll kill him.”

Pressure in my chest coiled tighter and tighter. Tension saturated the air. My finger slipped onto the trigger, and I fired.

Bullet

A deafening blast rattled my brain. Pain seared through my flesh and deep into my bones. The concrete floor felt cold beneath my cheek. My arms and legs were numb, and my face throbbed with the beat of my heart.

I willed my eyes open. I’d been in some fucked up fights, but I was usually on my feet and able to defend myself. I wasn’t sure where Barras had taken me. I’d lost consciousness several times while Mars and his friend kicked the shit out of my ribs.

Stormy called to me again. This time she wasn’t whispering her regrets. There were no tears in her voice. She was screaming.

“Stay back and stay away from Bullet. ”

She was here. I focused, willing my body to move. Voices cut through the fog of unconsciousness. The horrified glint in her eyes revealed more than the throb in my face and the sting of my cut lips. The copper taste of blood coated my tongue and lingered in my mouth. I was a fucking mess.

“Madison, put the gun down,” Barras demanded.

“Why? So you can kill me after you kill Bullet?”

Yeah, that was my girl. Disobedient as fuck and feisty.

Then my brain registered what she held in her hand. What the fuck was she doing with a gun? My thoughts became clearer. Indulgence, Barras, Blue and Kiss. Somehow, she’d found me, but why would she come alone?

“Take the fucking gun,” one of the other voices demanded.

More gunfire exploded in the room. But not from Stormy. She hadn’t come alone. Blood misted in the air with the head shot. One of Barras’s men crumbled to the ground.

“Who the fuck is with her?” Mars asked, shrinking behind a stack of crates.

“Fuck,” someone roared.

Stormy held a gun. Jesus Christ. She randomly aimed and pulled the trigger. Again and again.

Barras’s men clamored for cover.

Mars stepped forward and leveled his weapon at her.

I forced my body to move .

Barras scrambled out from behind another stack of crates. “Don’t shoot her,” he hollered. “Or I’ll fucking kill you.” He aimed his gun at Mars.

“Who the fuck are you to threaten me?” Mars asked. “Fuck you and fuck your bitch.”

Barras pulled the trigger. Mars clutched his chest, dropped to his knees, and stared at the blood spreading across his chest.

“Are you fucking crazy?” Another man aimed his gun at Barras.

“No, I’m possessive, and she’s mine.” He pulled the trigger. Blood exploded from the other man’s body, splattering Barras’s face.

I groaned, rolled to my hands and knees, and dropped my head between my shoulders. The room spun, and my body shuddered with the effort of moving.

“Stormy, get down.” In my head, I hollered, but my voice barely came out as a raspy whisper.

She spun toward me. “Bullet,” she said on a breathy exhale.

“Get down!” I repeated.

She dropped and crawled across the concrete floor. “Oh my god.”

The delicate touch of her hand on my body was worth taking a few more kicks and punches. Her fingers grazed over the bruises and abrasions. I hated tenderness and clingy touches, but I’d take another beating to keep her touching me.

Another shot blasted through the room. Wood from the crate splintered .

I grabbed the gun from Stormy and shielded her body with mine. With my blurry gaze, I doubted I’d be able to hit a target any better.

She squirmed beneath me.

“Stay still, kitten.” I groaned as pain ripped along my spine. I couldn’t take a breath without fire searing through my lungs.

“Get off me. You’re hurt.”

“Not a fucking chance.”

“Kodiak is here,” she whispered. “He’s my cover.”

“We’ll discuss this later. We need to stop shooting, or we’re going to be buried in cops.”

Beyond the crates, one of the bay doors rolled open. At the same time, a crash sounded from the left.

“Hellers,” one of the guys said.

Barras turned his gun on me. I lifted Stormy’s weapon to pull the trigger, but a blast behind Barras blew a hole through his body. Death was instant.

A shot rang behind him and then silence.

“All clear,” echoed through the room. Kodiak jumped down from a stack of crates and rushed to my side.

I rolled off Stormy. Excruciating pain robbed me of breath.

Stormy leaned over me, careful not to hurt me as she touched me. “I’m so sorry.” Tears drenched her face. “I’m so so sorry.”

I fisted my hand in her hair. “It’s not your fault,” I mumbled.

“If Kodiak hadn’t been here— ”

“Talk later,” Rogue said and dropped down next to me. “As soon as Willow patches you up, I’m going to beat your ass in the basement.”

I gripped his cut. “Blue and Kiss. They’re at Indulgence.”

Jazzy stood over me. “Vega found them. They’re both at the MC. Willow is with them. Kiss is fine.”

“What about Blue?” I asked.

A small smile curled her lips. “He was on his feet and talking when Vega and Romeo brought him in. Rogue made Romeo stay behind.”

“Torch and Dozer are in the hearse,” Blade said. “We need to load up the bodies.”

I struggled to my get to me knees. “Let them rot.”

Loading the bodies onto the hearse meant taking them out to my property and burying them with the rest of our enemies. But not these guys. Not Barras. One day, I wanted the little house for me and Stormy. Fuck having her ex in her mind every time she glanced out the fucking window.

Rogue put a hand to my chest. “Stay down.”

Dozer and Torch entered the building. “Everyone okay?” Torch asked.

“Yeah.” Blade glanced around at the dead bodies littering the floor. “Take the table and the tools. How many hits are ours?”

“Two. Stormy is a shitty shot.” Kodiak smiled at Stormy. “Nothing but wood and cement, but she’s tits as a distraction.”

“Who gave you the gun?” I asked Stormy .

She chewed her lip. “I stole it from Levi, then I stole her car.”

Jazzy’s eyes sparked. “I told you she was all Heller now.”

Kodiak wiped his gun. “My piece links back to Wrench and the Crawlers. Let the cops pull slugs out of this bastard. It won’t come back on the Hellers.”

“It’s going to hurt like a bitch, but we need to get you out of here.” Rogue and Torch hauled me to my feet.

Fuck. Blackness encroached on my peripheral. My nostrils flared, but I couldn’t draw in a breath. “My ribs are busted.”

“Put him in Levi’s stolen car,” Jazzy said and winked at Stormy. “Get him back to the MC. Willow will be ready for him. We’ll finish up here.”
