Chapter 19

"Any news?" I ask, speaking to my brothers, though my attention is on the woman sitting outside on one of the reclined wooden chairs, drinking her coffee.

"Someone broke into her apartment last night and met the end of Ruger's fist," Dagger answers. "Glock reported seeing two unknowns around the station, and Grady said he got a call from someone he didn't know looking for Gwyneth."

"I talked to Blade. He's posted himself at the gym and reported seeing someone there looking for her," Colt remarks, grimacing and lowering his voice. "He also noted the person showing interest in Angie. I think someone needs to look out for her."

Shit. We should have put someone on Angie from the get-go. The woman is an easy target to get to Gwyneth. If they get their hands on Angie, she's the perfect bait in order to draw Gwyneth out. Or the use of Simon, but we've ensured he's disappeared. No one can find him. At least not easily.

"Get that woman out of sight," Dagger grumbles, nostrils flaring.

"Blade's already on it," Carbine murmurs, rolls his shoulders, and rocks his head side to side, his neck popping. "We need to get some new damn beds in that room I'm in. It's too damn uncomfortable."

"You'll survive," I grunt as my cell buzzes in my pocket. Wondering who it is, I pull it out and groan. I'd forgotten to let my sister know I'd be out of town. "Hold on a sec," I tell my brothers and answer the call. "Leanna, you okay? The kids?" I hadn't spent much time with any of them since the funeral, nor had I gone anywhere near them with the threat to Gwyneth. I didn't want to put them in the path of danger.

"Yeah, I'm okay," she says, not sounding quite like herself. "I was just calling ‘cause I wanted to let you know the insurance money came in from Mom's policy. She left it to both of us?—"

"Take my half and use it for those kids," I interrupt her, not wanting anything to do with the money. I don't need it, and I hate the idea of taking money from my mom's death.

"Are you sure?" Leanna asks after a moment's pause.

"I'm sure. There anything else?"

"Well, I was going to see if you wanted to come for dinner, but from the tone of your voice, you're busy."

Closing my eyes, I drop my head back and take a breath. "If I were in town, I'd do dinner, Lele, but I'm not in town right now. Some serious shit's going down, and you need to stay clear of the clubhouse for the time being. Unless Hammer sends one of the members to come get you, don't go near it."

"Umm, okay," she murmurs. "You're not going to tell me why, are you?"

"You know I'm not," I grunt.

"Right, then, does it have anything to do with the pretty paramedic that treated Mom and was at the funeral?"

I didn't even think she noticed Gwyneth at the funeral. Straightening my head once more, I open my eyes to look out on the back deck to where my woman is sitting, watching the ocean waves crash against the shore.

"Yeah, I'll give you that much, and when all this is over, I'll introduce you to Gwyneth."

At the mention of her name, Gwyneth turns in her chair to meet my gaze.

"Gwyneth is a really pretty name. I look forward to meeting her. Mom would be happy you finally found someone. Let me know when you're back in town, and the coast is clear. We'll do dinner." With that, Leanna disconnects.

Sighing, I pull the phone from my ear and shove it back into my pocket. My sister always likes getting the last word in. She'll stay clear for the time being, but it seems when this is all over, she'll want to meet Gwyneth pronto.

"Leanna okay?" Dagger asks.

"Yeah, insurance money came in," I tell him, shaking my head.

"Right." Dagger nods, understanding where I'm coming from. "She going to listen and stay clear of the clubhouse?"

"You know she will. When it comes to those kids, she's like a damn lioness and will do whatever it takes to protect them." I shrug. "Now, back to it . . ." My eyes are glued to Gwyneth while my brothers and I finish going over what we need to do in order to keep her safe. The whole time, she sits out on the deck, having returned her attention back to the scenery.

I need to talk to her, fill her in so she knows, but she seems to be enjoying herself, and I don't want to ruin it for her. Regardless, she's gonna need to know about Angie. I won't keep that from her. She has a right to know, and I've seen Gwyneth teaching self-defense. I know when it comes down to helping me protect her, she can do it. Granted, I'm hoping it doesn't come down to that.

My brothers and I finish our conversation, with Colt and Carbine going back to sleep. They'll stay up through the night to keep guard while the rest of us sleep.

Thoughts of being in the bed with Gwyneth, my dick thickens. This morning with her in the bed, taking her the way I did, using that damn toy, working it in her ass while I fucked her pussy. I don't think I've ever had a woman cream for me the way she did. It was hotter than anything I've ever experienced, and I look forward to seeing if I can get her even hotter. I want to see her burn brighter for me, but I don't want my brothers around to hear her screams of pleasure as I know they did this time.

"You gonna go out there and sit with your woman or stare at the back of her head?" Dagger snorts, moving to the couch and flopping down on it, nabbing the remote. "Let me know if we're going anywhere. Otherwise, game's on and I'm watching it."

"Which game?"

The sweetest sound of Gwyneth's voice fills my ears as I find her coming back inside.

"USC is playing Michigan, later VMI is up against Cavaliers," Dagger answers and looks over his shoulder. "Baseball."

"Sweet, I like USC, but I also like Duke."

"Duke has a good team, but I gotta say East Carolina is better. But LSU is my team."

"LSU is definitely the team to beat," Gwyneth says, finding a spot on the loveseat, eyes coming to me. "You going to stand there, or we watching a game?"

"We're watching the game, Princess." I grin, liking the fact I found a woman who likes baseball. Between baseball and football, those are the two sports I enjoy watching. Mostly college rather than professional.

Rounding the loveseat, I scoop Gwyneth up and turn, getting comfortable with her in my arms, eyes on the TV screen and the game just starting. Here's to a day at the beach, relaxing and watching baseball.

I'll wait until later to fill her in. Let her have this time to enjoy a day of peace.
