Chapter Six

Echo gave an annoyed look with his eyes, spun, and disappeared over the side of the roof.

He didn’t look back to see if Ice was behind him when he entered the hallway. He knew for a fact that Ice couldn’t keep up with him. No matter how hard the other assassin tried, he always failed. Not that Ice wasn’t extremely fast, because the fucker was.

When he reached the hallway that led to the galley, he waited and a few moments later, Ice crouched at his side.

A weird tension filled his gut, but he chalked it up to not liking people near him.

Using his fingers, Echo signaled he’d take the guy on the left. Ice nodded and launched with a power that was sexy as all hell.

Why the fuck was he losing his train of thought?

Fuck!

Echo lunged upward and flung three daggers in quick succession into the left guy’s throat while Ice plunged his knife into the right guy’s ribs.

Tat, tat, tat.

The automatic rifle in the right guy’s hand sent several rounds into the ceiling. The big fucker wasn’t going down and Ice pulled the knife from the guy’s ribs, but the guard slapped at his hand and pulled his own knife.

Echo leaped across the distance and ran his blade over the big guy’s neck—opening the guy’s throat, his blade flashing in the dim light.

Breathing hard, Ice stood gazing down at the dead man. The guy’s throat looked like a gaping yawn. Blood spilled out and the scent of sweat along with copper filled his nostrils.

Echo moved up to him. The top of Echo’s head only reached Ice’s throat, but Echo managed to catch his eyes.

“Fucking move,” Echo hissed and shoved him.

Ice snapped out of whatever the fuck had happened and grabbed up the guy’s rifle.

Entering the galley, Ice stayed low. One lone gunman was inside and he was standing with his hand around a young boy’s throat, a gun pointed at him. Echo entered behind Ice and the gun swiveled to level at the other assassin. Ice lifted the rifle and put a bullet in the guy’s throat. Blood splattered the boy’s face, and the little girl screamed.

“You guys ready to get out of here?”

Two little boys and a girl were dazed, but they took the offered escape and ran with them to the railing of the yacht. Reaching the deck with the three kids, Ice pulled the flare from his boot and sent it upward

Echo slid away and Ice saw the man going upward to the lower roof. Within minutes, three Pegasus operatives climbed over the railing and onto the deck. Ice took the two earpieces from one of them.

“Use those to communicate with Echo. Dave’s orders. They won’t be affected by the jamming signal if you stay close. This needs to end tonight.”

Ice nodded at the information and raced back to climb the metal that would take him upward.

He found Echo cleaning his knife and held out the earpiece. They both watched as the children were lowered down into the rescue skiff and sped away.

The sky was growing light by the minute.

“What now?” Echo asked. “They’re not coming out,” Echo said of their real target.

Two high-powered politicians into sex trafficking children were barricaded in a room on the yacht that they had no chance in hell of getting into.

“Dave wants this over now,” Ice said.

“I have an idea,” Echo said.

“Why do I suddenly hope to see the sunrise tomorrow?”

Echo’s eyes suddenly gleamed.

The blast blew them clean off the boat.

In hindsight, Ice figured he should have been ready for it, but he’d been more worried about Echo.

Hitting the water, he kicked to the surface and cleared his eyes with a swipe of his hand. Searching for Echo, Ice swept his eyes around the churning black water. Echo bobbed to the surface a few feet from him and Ice caught the slighter man’s arm and dragged him closer in the cold, dark water.

“You good?”

Echo’s eyes were wild with excitement and he turned from the fiery yacht and gave him a smile that was so bright, it made Ice lose his head. He pulled Echo closer, wanting to taste just a little bit of that joy, and he touched the man’s lips with his own.

The kiss fucking exploded between them.

It went from cool water temperature to heated lava in seconds. When fingers gripped his hair, Ice slanted his mouth completely over the assassin’s lips.

Echo bit at him.

Ice licked at the blood.

They ended up on the dark beach, clothes tossed away, with sand getting in places it shouldn’t, but fuck if he gave a shit. Echo shook out one of their shirts and shoved him back down on it. And naked, Echo straddled his hips. Using spit, the slender man reached between them, took his engorged dick in hand, and guided it to his ass.

Ice almost exploded before he got inside, but he gasped and panted and clenched Echo’s small waist, stilling the assassin’s hips for a split second. Echo snarled and knocked his hands away and jammed down, head tossing wildly, hair falling into his gorgeous eyes.

Ice cupped Echo’s ass and when the assassin came down on his dick again, Ice snapped his hips up and they rode the rapids until both of them snapped. Ice fisted Echo’s hair and took the man’s mouth in a bruising kiss as he emptied his balls.

When Echo’s cock spurted on his abs, Echo bit at him, drawing blood again.

Ice growled and rammed up one last time and then dropped, panting, to the sand.

Echo rolled away and Ice swiped out a hand, but the assassin was too quick. Before Ice could process shit, Echo was already into his pants, shirt, and was pulling on his shoes before strapping back on his sheath and knives.

“Let’s go back to my place,” Ice murmured, sitting up.

“No.” Echo shook his head.

Ice launched to his feet and grabbed the assassin’s arm.

The knife swiped out and caught him in the fleshy part of his stomach, near his side. Ice hissed and fell back, holding the wound.

“Don’t make the mistake of thinking that I like you.” The words came hoarsely and then Echo strode away. The man’s slight frame was swallowed by the night.

“Shit,” Ice muttered and slowly dressed. He’d lost his rifle in the water when the blast knocked him off the boat. Good thing the serial number was filed off and nothing could trace it back to him. He picked up the little dagger that Echo had thrown at him onboard the yacht and tucked it away.

He’d keep it as a memento.
