Epilogue
"T hey're all getting so big." Rosa grinned as she eyed the boys.
"Teething is an a-h-o-l-e," I muttered, holding onto the other end of the heavy duty teething rings they were content to work out their fangy frustrations on. "Thank god they're no longer on the t-i-t," I added.
Rosa grimaced in sympathy.
"Where's Anie?" Mal asked, glancing around. Binc and Kitty played at her feet, wooden cars and dollies mixing in a big old imaginary adventure.
Kehko was at Dorothy's, baking with her grandma and grandpas, and the boys were fishing with Tokre, Noyel, Gopher and Celuk, Tarnk and Lottie, and Daisy's Righty and their sons.
Zhuii, Khri, and Buu were over near a stall haggling for some warrior, hunting, thing or another.
Boog sat with us on a blanket on the grass, feeding his girls bits of biscuit and fruit.
A soft growling in the distance had me glancing up, spotting them, and pointing.
Rosa's hand clapped to her face to try and hold back the shocked gasp of a laugh that left her.
Latched onto Jeh-kal's arm, Anie snarled as she tried to jerk her jaw this way and that.
Rek walked with them, his hands hovering beneath her, her favorite blankie over his arm.
"She's a menace. An absolute menace," I muttered, shaking my head. Throwing my hands up at them, I scowled. "We're trying to discourage her from biting, hmm?"
Jeh-kal smiled apologetically. "She cry," was all he'd offer.
"You have big mushy insides," Rek huffed and puffed with a roll of his eyes but he was the biggest mush pot of all.
"You have your hands full with that one," Rosa sputtered.
"Don't," I whispered softly, eyeing her.
Rosa grinned. She didn't need to. The karma bus was hitting us tenfold with our precious little princess. Or, as I like to call her, my unholy terror and MiniRek.
"And this is just the beginning," Rosa singsonged.
"You're a bad word," I grumbled, though I was smiling my ass off.
"She not wrong," Boog chimed in, to Mal's tinkling laughter.
"You won't be laughing if I ask you to babysit," I reminded lightly.
"We not home," Boog blurted, making Rosa burst out in laughter. His eyes were looking a little buggy at the thought of watching our mini monster in training.
"At least the boys are chill," Mal pointed out.
"My god, woman, don't jinx me!" I barked, making Rosa laugh harder, louder.
That silly bitch was going to pee herself at the rate she was going.
Eh, but she wasn't wrong.
Whatever, that little shedemon is MY fangy little turkey.
She was going to grow up loved, accepted, and taught that we most certainly do not bite our friends!
