Quinn – One Week Later

I smileas April and Noah run around. He"s managed to bounce back a little since the incident. He"ll have moments where he"ll stare off into space and look frightened, but we try to distract him, then call Tats" momma, Emily.

She"s an amazing therapist. I"ve even switched to her. Don"t get me wrong, my therapist was good, but the guy asked me out at the end of our last session, something about me not being crazy anymore, not that Alex knows about that.

I don"t need an angry Alex going after the man, even if he does deserve it. Tech said he'll look into him for me instead.

"You"re it, Noah," April laughs, before running around the tables. He makes me smile as he chases her, and the brothers chuckle at their antics.

After so much drama, Sarah and Snake decided a family BBQ was in order. However, Sniper is missing from the event, which most have noticed, including Amber, who"s working on refreshments.

Her face looks like a monkey"s slapped ass from where she"s scowling near the refreshments table.

My eyes go to the people standing near her, and I turn my head to try not to laugh. Alex, who looks really uncomfortable, is speaking to Nina, Tech"s ex, distracting her, while Tech is presently speaking to Brook near the gate.

Brook is trying to leave, but he"s cupping her cheek, looking deeply into her eyes. I look at Liv, who crosses her fingers at me, and I cross mine back before we look back at the couple. I bite my lip to stop the squeal wanting to come out when he kisses her, and oh yes, she kisses him back.

I notice Liv jumping as I lift my arms in victory, only to silently curse at the pain.

Stupid Jingles and her stupid gun.

Brook breaks the kiss first the quickly leaves, but Tech just grins. He did mention to Alex, in confidence…while I happened to be nearby, that he and Brook have slept together a few times. She"s wavering.

A screech echoes through the yard, and I look where the sound came from in panic only to gasp at seeing Nina trying to put out her skirt, which is on fire—and standing next to her, scowling, and holding— Holy shit! Where did Noah get a lighter?

I get up and run over to the food table. No one is trying to help Nina apart from Tech"s momma, Carol. Tech laughs along with his dad, and Alex stands there looking shocked as shit because, well yeah.

I grab the lighter from Noah and slam it against Alex"s chest, knocking him out of his shock, before I kneel and cup Noah"s cheeks, looking him over.

"Okay, munchkin, first things first…are you hurt?" He shakes his head, his eyes staying on Nina, and I sigh, about to be stern with him.

I roll my eyes and ignore her, focusing on Noah. "You need to explain why you did that, Noah. Haven"t I warned you about using lighters and how dangerous they are? You could have seriously hurt yourself."

Okay, I know I should tell him not to set people on fire, but I really don"t like the woman. Yesterday, she openly questioned why Alex was with me, and then accused me of purposely getting shot to get him to make me his old lady. Honestly, I wish I had thought of it myself.

"Right now, I want you to go to Grams and get your little butt home. What you did was not okay," I state firmly.

He sniffles, and I have to bite the inside of my cheek to stop myself from grabbing hold of him. When I was his teacher, he was the only child I struggled to punish, because the boy holds a part of my heart.

This is why I"m glad he"s moving up to the next grade when I restart my position in the fall. Ms. Holden and all the parents are happy that I"m staying, and it helps to not have a connection with a child in my class.

Though, April will be in my class…. Crap.

Noah wipes his tears before whispering, "She-she tried to touch daddy"s arm, and leaned on him. You"re my momma, not her. She"s like my old momma, the one who hurt you—mean."

I wrap my arms around him as he throws himself on me, and I make eye contact with Alex, who tilts his head at me. His eyes soften as he mouths, "I love you," making me smile.

I pull back from Noah, kiss his cheek, then rasp, "Go to Gram"s, baby. I promise that Daddy and I are good. I"m not going anywhere."

He sniffles but nods, pecking my lips before running to Shelly, who I notice secretly high-fiving him. This makes me snort, but I cough to cover it as Alex helps me stand. He wraps his arm around my waist before kissing behind my ear and whispering, "Trouble," making me smile. I look at Nina and raise a brow at her.

"So, you tried to touch my man and lean on him?" Nina"s face goes red as Tech crosses his arms over his chest, and I continue, "I"m pretty sure I"m wearing his patch. I mean, isn"t that a crime in the club world, making moves on a taken brother?"

I look at Snake, who grins wide before clearing his throat. He runs his hand over his bald head to hide his reaction and states, "It is. Being an old lady is sacred, which means, Nina, you are banned from club property. You need to leave immediately." He looks around at the brothers, who all nod before he shouts,"Phil, come remove her, please."

Phil nods as she starts to protest, while Carol is ordered to keep her mouth shut or she'll be banned as well.

Tech high-fives Alex before kissing my cheek, which makes me laugh. Brook kissing him back has made his day, but this is the icing on the cake for him.

The man is on cloud nine.

Shaking my head, I turn in Alex"s hold, and grin at him.

"I know I should have punished him harder, but seriously, his green eyes." I groan, leaning against him, making him laugh before he kisses me, making me hum in contentment as lust hits me hard.

He picks me up bridal style and shouts, "We"re off!" making the brothers laugh.

Lola states loudly, "I"ll have Noah tonight," making me laugh as the brothers groan. She and Kennedy, via FaceTime, have been teaching him some pranks.

The brothers are now wary about her return, except for Doc, who is counting down the days. He never did mention what happened when he caught up with her and Smokey.

When we get to our room, and Alex kicks the door shut, before standing me at the foot of the bed, making me grin. I turn us and shove him to sit down, making him raise a brow at me, but I shake my head and slowly remove my cut, throwing it so it lands on the chair in the corner of the room. I grip the bottom of my knee-length dress, and lift it over my head, trying to hold my wince with my shoulder, but my man notices it. He narrows his eyes.
