Chapter 15
Moon
"Moon, can I speak with you?" the King asks after we've all spent the last hour after dinner talking. It was nice to hear stories of my mother when she was younger. Her Chaos makes some of my stories seem tame.
"Sure," I nod, getting up to follow him to the fireplace. Because there seems to be one in every room here.
Making our way over, we sit on either side of the dancing flames in the chairs that seem to invite a quiet moment. I observe Lark as he seems to gather his thoughts before his eyes snap up to mine with determination.
"I would like the chance to get to know you better. I understand you'll go off to live your life soon, but, well. I just…" He trails off, frowning.
"Missed so much already?" I offer, and he nods. "I understand. I would like that too," I agree, offering him a hug. This is all so unusual for me, but I'm willing to try. "Just promise to take care of my mother," I say, mostly teasing.
"Your mother is my soulmate. My Heart Bond. My Goddess. My everything. I will take care of her for as long as we both live," he says earnestly, and I smile.
"Good."
I bounce out of my seat, but before I have a chance to escape the conversation as it gets more emotional, Lark gently catches my hand. He is almost bashful as he asks that I stand with him and my mother as they finally bond. Smiling, I nod and make my way back over to the others.
Beneath the stained-glass that makes up the windows of the throne room, sunlight casts colors across the white floral arrangements that grace either side of the aisle. The King stands regally while watching my mother approach the officiant. Despite the nervous fidgeting, he looks ready to show his kingdom what the true Queen looks like.
I watch on with my mates as my parents recite their vows in low whispers, and they glow with the promise of their union. After he kisses her, Lark places a crown of silver starlight upon her brow. In unison, they turn to me and hold out their hands. Grasping them, I am pulled up to the officiant as my mother turns me to face everyone.
"As I take Shine to be both my Bonded and my Queen,I must acknowledge the true gift of our union. Please let us introduce the crowned Princess, Moonlight," Lark intones smoothly. The gathered crowd, with my mates in front of the throne, bow as one.
When they insisted that I be given the title, I agreed somewhat reluctantly. Knowing the Chaos that often comes on the tail end of my life's decisions, I will have to wait and see what comes from this.
Fen spends time getting to know the man who was prevented from being his father, agreeing to return so that he and Steve could have more time together. My mother has decided to keep him around, and I noticed she seems happier when he's near. She's got her best friend back.
We promise to return soon, so they can all meet the baby once it's hatched. It's weird to me that it seems to be so important to them both. Not because I don't trust them, but mostly because I'm not used to having either of them in my life. I'm glad though. This baby will have more love than it knows what to do with.
Grams returns to her home in the Witching Realm, but will be visiting my mother frequently. I could tell she wanted to return home for the comfort of a familiar space, but she didn't like leaving my mom. She might not have birthed Shine, but she sure loves the fuck out of us like she's biologically responsible for our creation.
Grams, and my parents, as well as Steve will be joining us in the Orc Realm for our wedding. I think it'll be nice to see all of them again.
