Chapter 52

Brock

No one was going to convince me this was a good idea, not even my dickhead brother.

"Down here." Hunter waved us ahead as we walked up to a very austere looking building. Situated down a confined alleyway, the storefront was painted in all grey, a single man's suit on a mannequin all that was shown in the narrow window. He bent at the waist, performing some elaborate bow as he directed our attention to the door. "Sartorial elegance awaits."

"Sartorial elegance?" I said, raising an eyebrow. "Did you get one of those word-of-the-day calendars again?"

"You're just jealous that I know how to act fancy."

My grip on Jamie's hand tightened and she looked up at me.

"Do you need fancy?" I asked Jamie.

Her little smile was everything. Never would I have anticipated thanking Majorie for anything, but I did right now. Pissing off my girl, putting her in a dress she didn't choose, it somehow brought us closer. I rubbed my thumb across Jamie's knuckles as she answered.

"Fancy?" She turned and ran her free hand down the lapel of my flannel shirt. "Nope." I was enjoying her touch too much to focus on what came next. "I do, however, need something to wear to the engagement party."

"Does this tailor make suits out of plaid flannelette?" Hayden asked, eyeing the two of us a little too intently.

"Wash your mouth out," Hunter replied. "We are not wearing freaking plaid suits."

"Jamie seems to like it a whole lot." Hayden shrugged.

"It's all soft and pettable." My girl looked up at me with a wink. "And Brock's really not underneath it."

"Oh, you can pet me all you like."

Jamie's smile widened, and that moment of connection seemed to stretch out, only to be interrupted rudely.

"Gag!" We spun around at a strident female voice to see Millie walking up the alleyway toting a bottle of rum and some shopping bags stuffed with food. "I know I said it was cool to date my bestie, but I didn't realise you'd get all gross and flirty with her."

"If you knew just how ‘flirty' we'd gotten…" I shot back, but Jamie pulled away from me before I could tighten my hold on her hand.

"Bitch!" Jamie threw her arms around my sister. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

"My brothers getting fitted for monkey suits and then fighting it out in custom-tailored attire to see who wins by bestie's hand? Of course I was gonna come." Millie thrust her hand forward. "I brought snacks!"

"I said you could come and hang out," Hunter said between gritted teeth.

"And that always involves rum and nibbles." Millie hooked her arm through Jamie's and they marched up to the door. "So this place?"

They swung in through the door and then up the steps.

"You invited Millie to come by to our suit fittings?" I asked Hunter.

"If all three of us are together in one spot, you know our baby sister won't be far behind," he replied. Millie was like a shadow when we were little kids. A really persistent, annoying shadow. "Millie and our girl have a bond that's never going to be broken, and if Jamie starts to freak?" We all shared a moment then. "No one's better than our sister for talking Jamie off a ledge."

His focus shifted to me right then.

"And anyway, Mum and Dad always taught us to share, didn't they?"

"What does that mean?"

My eyes narrowed as I caught the two glancing at each other, that twin bullshit coming into play, but Hunter just shrugged.

"Hayden and me, we've worked out a way to share real well."

"What…?"

Why the hell did I ask them that when their smug smiles told me everything? I could see it clearly then. My girl, naked and shining in the moonlight as they moved around her, converging— Suddenly, I was standing in front of Hunter, my hands wrapped around the collar of his t-shirt before I tugged him closer.

"What did you do to Jamie?"

"Everything she wanted." His cocky reply was ruined by the fact that the neckline of his shirt was cutting into his throat, but he didn't back down for a second.

"We did everything she wanted." My eyes jerked sideways to see Hayden standing there, fists balled. "And that's what we'll continue to do going forward."

"Is this some sort of kink for you two?" I snapped. They were my brothers and I loved them, but right now I was ready to bite both of their fucking heads off. "You thought it'd be hot to have a threesome with Jamie?"

"It was us acknowledging a reality." Hunter took me by surprise, putting his hands on my chest and shoving me away. I rallied fast, ready to leave him in the gutter with his teeth lying on the concrete beside him, but his words stopped me in my tracks. "Each one of us wants to make her his…"

That hug today. I could feel Jamie in my arms as I held her close, her heart beating so hard and fast it drowned out the sound of traffic, and with it came a feeling of complete rightness. That this was where she was supposed to be, right there with me. But as I stared at the twins, I saw similarly serious expressions. No smirk from Hunter, no sarcastic remark from Hayden, just the two of them waiting for me to see it.

That they'd experienced something just like what I had, but together.

"So we can fight this out," Hayden said, stepping closer, "see who Jamie chooses."

"Or we can find a way for everyone to get what they need."

Hunter's words rang in my ears with a faint whine, but right as I was about to say something, Millie came stumbling down the stairs.

"Oi, you lot coming or what?" We all moved towards the entrance on automatic. "Welcome to Thunderdome, bitch." She grinned as she threw her arms wide. "Three men enter, one man becomes Jamie's date. Only time will tell which one it will be."

I stared at my brothers, frowning so hard my face ached, but I didn't reply. Instead, I climbed the stairs, entering the expansive studio to find a woman with steel-grey, cropped hair having a drink with my girl. I couldn't process what the twins had said, what Millie was twittering on about right now. My brain felt like it was churning so fast I could almost smell the stink of gears grinding, but all of that stopped when Jamie looked up at me when I drew close.

"Ready to get suited up?" she asked with a grin. "I asked Mac if she had any plaid flannelette fabric, but she said no."

"It's an intriguing idea, though. Kinda giving me edgy couture vibes." The tailor thrust her hand out. "I'm Mac."

"Brock."

"And here's Tweedledee and Tweedlebum," Mac said, turning around to take in the twins. "You're damn lucky the two of you are pretty close to sample size, wanting a suit this close to the party." She looked me up and down. "I'm going to have my work cut out for me with lumbersnack here."

"Lumbersnack…" Millie cackled, setting out food and drinks on a large table that dominated the room.

"And as for you." Mac gripped the tailor's measuring tape hanging around her neck and inspected Jamie closely. "Nice tits, small waist, and you've got good, solid hips, which will make these boys happy and my job difficult." She glanced at Hunter. "Suits were traditionally designed for men. I can make your girl look amazing, but it's a whole lot of darts and structuring to stop her from looking like a shapeless lump."

"Oh, well, maybe we shouldn't—" Jamie started to say.

"I'll pay it," Hunter said, reaching for his wallet.

"I can." Hayden looked like he was just about to shove his twin out of the way, which meant I had to step in again.

"Are Mum and Dad coming as well?" I asked Hunter.

"No, why?—"

"Then as the eldest, I'm in charge." I pulled out my wallet and slapped my credit card down on the table. "Whatever it takes to get Jamie looking amazing." Her eyes widened as she stared at me then, as if she couldn't believe that I was doing this. I wanted to erase that expression, right as a selfish part of myself gloried in it. Jamie needed to expect, no, take for granted we'd always step up for her, and that's when my eyes met Hunter's. He gave me a tiny nod, as if he'd been waiting for me to understand. "Happy, feeling comfortable in her own skin, and amazing. You tell me how much that will cost, and I'll pay it."

"Alright." Mac nodded and then turned to Jamie. "I'm thinking blue for you. Close to navy but a little lighter than that if you're saying this isn't black tie. Maybe a fabric with a little linen in it, to give it a slight texture." Her eyes roamed over my girl's form and I understood that instinct well. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but a three piece suit with no shirt. I'll cut the waistcoat so it becomes a top in itself. Nice big V, it'll show the girls off." She gestured to Jamie's breasts.

I was warming to this idea already.

"A jacket that nips in at the waist and looser cut trousers but not wide leg, to give you a bit of room. What do you think?"

Jamie just blinked as if trying to process everything that had been said, so I moved in closer, taking her hand.

"Only if you're comfortable with this idea."

"You'll look amazing, babes," Millie said, reaching over and topping up Jamie's drink. "Down that and let's get the ball rolling."

A sharp nod, that's what Jamie gave us before she did exactly that. She swallowed down her rum and Coke and then turned to Mac.

"OK, let's do this."

As we watched Jamie be led away to a change room, the twins came and sidled up to me.

"This was supposed to be my thing," Hunter bitched. "I was going to pay for her to get suited up."

"On a carpenter's wage?" I shook my head. "And anyway…" I stared at him, then Hayden. "You think the best way forward is to share Jamie?"

"Share Jamie?" Millie shoved drinks into our hands as she studied the lot of us closely. "I said one of you would prove yourself worthy of becoming her boyfriend, not all of you."

"It's the only way we can move forward without anyone getting hurt," Hayden replied.

"Probably shouldn't have involved your older brother in your little plan then." I put my drink down before crossing my arms, staring at the wall between us and the change room, knowing my girl was in there being measured, trying on new clothes.

"What did you think was going to happen?" Mille said with a shake of her head. "Big brother always takes over everything."

"Yeah, I do." I looked the twins square in the eye. "We do this? We do it right."

I expected Hunter to bristle, argue, push back, but not to suddenly start grinning.

"Well, cheers to that."

When he raised his glass, so did the lot of us.

"Here's to the McDonalds looking after Jamie."

"Here's to making Jamie a McDonald."

We all stared at Hayden as he made his correction, then clinked glasses.

"I'll drink to that," I said.
