Chapter 10
Chapter Ten
Grayson
I can already tell she is overthinking our kissing marathon. But is that going to stop me? Not at all. If I have to give her a little more time to be comfortable with all of this and all that I want with her then so be it.
"How about you let me take you guys home tonight?"
"Oh, um, no, but thank you. I have to be up way early tomorrow and wouldn't feel right about having to make Candy or Lolly come go out of their way just to pick me up."
"I can take you to work tomorrow too."
"But…," I watch as she searches around for something to say that will get her out of this. "It's very early and it wouldn't be fair to you since tomorrow is one of your days off. You should really rest and, um, sleep in?"
The last part comes out as a question more than a statement.
"It would make me feel better if you let me take you. I wouldn't have to worry about you and Tandy getting home safely. The two of you already fell asleep once tonight and I can tell you guys are still tired."
"I wouldn't want you to go out of your way…,"
I cut her off, "But you are still tired. And you wouldn't want me to worry about you, right?"
"Well, no. But…"
"Great. I'll grab my keys and carry Tandy out if you want me to."
"I don't… the car seat…"
"You're right, we'll have to switch that over first. Come and help me… if it's alright to leave Tandy here."
By the time I carry Tandy out to the car and buckle her into her car seat which I switched over from Bonny's car to mine my sweet little bunny is in full flight mode.
She looks back at where Tandy is still sleeping. She briefly woke up for about a second while I was scooping her up but then snuggled up against me and went back out of it. "We, um… we probably shouldn't do that again."
"What again?" I fight the smile that wants to tug at my lips. She's a worrier, my little bunny.
"The, um," another glance behind her, "the kiss." She whispers it but she's loud enough I can hear her.
"You don't want to kiss me again. Is it because I wasn't good at it?"
"What? No! That's not it at all. I… just think maybe we shouldn't, um, do it again."
"Did you like it?"
"Yes, but that's the problem." I like how she didn't hesitate on the yes. "We… I don't know what I'm doing, and I don't think I'm alright with being... I mean, you must have a lot of girls to kiss and I don't think..."
"I've not kissed a girl in a long time… years actually." She frowns over at me and I can't imagine what is going through that beautiful brain of hers. I don't have to wait long to find out though.
"Then why did you kiss me if you don't kiss the women you, um, have an affair with?"
I pull into their driveway before I turn to her and explain because I want to make sure we can look one another in the eye.
"Bonny, I don't have affairs. When I kissed you, that was the first time I've done anything with anyone in years. I don't go out trolling for young women who are sweet and innocent. And I don't just fuck because that's my hobby."
When I cuss her head snaps to the back to make sure Tandy is still asleep and I make a mental note to cut down on the naughty words while Tandy is around.
"Sorry for the F-bomb. I just want you to understand this isn't something I do all the time; it's not a game I'm playing. I want you and I intend to have you. But Bonny, when we make love," I mouth the last two words so if Tandy is awake, she won't hear anything, "I plan to keep you."
"But why would you want me? You have women throwing themselves at you all the time. There isn't a woman in town that wouldn't want to… you know. Well, except for Candy and Lolly, but they still think you're hot."
"That's because they know I only have eyes for you. What do you think? Do you think I'm hot?"
Her cheeks turn a pretty shade of pink and her eyes flutter around the cab of the car. "Well, um, yeah. You…you know you're hot. I… yeah."
I lean over and watch as her eyes get bigger and bigger before I gently drop a kiss on her flushed cheek.
"I'll see you tomorrow morning, bunny. Do you need help carrying Tandy in?"
"No! I got her. I…I'm good."
"You sure are, bunny. Good and tasty."
Her eyes widen again before her cheeks go from pink to bright red as she fumbles for her seatbelt. I wait until the two of them are in the house before I pull out. I don't even try to pretend the smile stretching across my face isn't there. I hated to let her go, but one day - one day very soon - she won't be leaving me. But she needs to get comfortable with the idea first. I understand that. I would never try to rush her but at the same time… I'm completely aware of what my end game is, and I don't mind putting in the work to get my perfect outcome… her.
