Chapter 25
Lorenzo
As soon as Luna pulls out of the driveway, we get to work on the rest of the plan. Alaric and Karrion should be pulling up any minute now to help us. Since we don't know exactly how many rats are among us, Mateo has come up with an easy solution to weed them out before we leave. He calls the meeting and every security guard we have enters the basement of the sawmill.
We had Owen and Brad moved until we have the time to deal with them properly. Once the last guard walks down the stairs, Mateo speaks. "We're just waiting for two more people to join us momentarily, then we'll get started."
"Awe, you waited for us to start the party? You're too good to us!" Karrion has a goofy smile plastered on his face as he walks down.
"Everyone is here, boss." Gordon calls from the top step.
"Okay. Pull the door shut and come on down." Mateo nods to him. We stand together with Alaric and Karrion by our sides, staring out at twenty four of our security guards. " Paghi come giochi. Occhio per occhio, dente per dente. " He crosses his arms over his chest, watching for any reaction from the guards.
I lean closer to Mateo, whispering in his ear, "Oliver, James and Tom." Now we know for sure that those three are helping Mathias' and I have to take a step back before I lose my shit.
"He's at an abandoned warehouse off route two-eighty-six," Tom blurts out, stepping forward. "He threatened our wives and families. What were we supposed to do?"
Mateo pulls his gun from his holster, aiming it right at Tom. "You should have spoken to me. We would have kept them safe. He has my woman now."
Stepping around him, I draw my weapon, aim at Tom and squeeze the trigger. "You're talking to fucking much, Mateo." Setting my sights on Oliver next, I squeeze the trigger again. Mateo aims his gun at James and shoots him in the forehead.
Sliding my gun back in the holster, I look around at the other guards. "Anybody else have anything to tell us?"
They all shake their heads, or mumble their responses, but nobody comes forward. "Luna's tracker shows us exactly where she's at. We're going to make our way toward her, so when she stops, we can be there sooner rather than later." Mateo informs them, putting his gun away.
"Mikey, Jason and Brent; you'll be staying here with Aurora. I want her safely locked in the basement ALONE! Nobody goes in or out until I get home."
"You got it, boss." Brent nods before the three of them head back to the house.
"The rest of you are with us." I announce, turning to walk up the stairs. Five minutes later, all six vehicles are loaded and headed toward Luna's location. She's stopped a few miles outside of Blairsville, so we're only about ten minutes away from her.
When we reach the dirt road of the warehouse, we pull off the side of the road and climb out. We're going to need to be quick and quiet if we want to stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting everyone out of here safely.
